vacillate
(v.) waver between different opinions or actions; be indecisive.

I pout, and take the dark path anyways. I have my phone right here, so there's no way I'll get lost. I'm surprised that Logan doesn't follow me.

Why? Were you expecting him to?

Boys are just confusing. And don't get me started with testosterone, it's the worst thing ever created.

I walk straight, ignoring the many stones that are increasing with every step. I lead to a two separate roads, two which are both dark. There isn't a sign saying which is the right way, so I guess that any of them will do.

I hear something behind me, and turn my head around, scanning the area. I'm far from the zip line area, I can hardly see it.

Keep your cool, Cass. You'll be fine.

I continue my walk, humming a tune of One Direction's "History". But my attention is bothered some more when I hear another rustle, just beneath the leaves. My eyes widen in panic, as I speed walk as quickly as I can.

I wind up the path, ignoring the sounds and thoughts haunting me. But the path is getting steeper and steeper, and I can hardly walk straight. That's when my foot manages to slip from a rock, making my whole body stumble down. I feel my knees hurt, and my right palm starts to heat up.

My eyes water up as I curse again and again. Great. Just great. I take a break on a near log and check my hand. Crap. My hand is grazed and it hurts. My knee doesn't have any injuries, but I'm pretty sure there's a bruise froming in there.

I close my eyes, trying to calm myself down as I slowly start to hyperventialte again. I count, trying to get rid of my problems.

One, you aren't in a dark forest with no one near you.

Two, everything will be alright.

Three, Logan will eventually apologize.

I flinch as I feel something familliar tickle my waist and my eyes open.

"Hello, princess," he says happily. I can't say my anger is gone yet.

I stand up, but fail when another rock manages to mess up my weight and Logan manages to catch me.

I've got one question fro the universe. Why is my life like a movie everytime I don't want it to, and why is it never like a movie when I want it to?

He slowly reaches for my palms, immediately noticing something wrong.

"Fuck. I'm so sorry, Cass. I should've followed you." I'm about to punch him on the shoulder playfully, when I'm reminded of last night. How can he act so damn casual?

I stand up, and brush imaginary dust from my jeans. Insolent little creep.

"Cassidy, come on, you can't just keep on ignoring me like this,"

I ignore him and quicken my pace, but he reaches me just in time.

"I'll just keep on annoying you until you finally notice me," he says.

And I'll just keep on ignoring you until you finally give up.

"Cassy," he says.

"Cassidy Frenchhhh," he repeats.

"Heyyy, princess!"

"You know, most people would be dying to be stuck in a dark forest alone with me,"

Oh, this guy is something else, ladies and gentlemen.

"One Direction is crap,"

I take a tiny stone and throw it at him, still refusing eye contact. He chuckles.

"Cassidyyyy,"

"Frenchhhh,"

"Earth to Cassy, you still alive?"

"Once upon a time there was a stubborn girl who kept on ignoring a hot guy. The girl ended up being eaten by monkeys. The end."

A small smile played on my lips. It was tremendously hard to ignore him.

"Princess, I'm a hundred percent sure you won't like what I'm about to do next. If you don't say something in the next three seconds, I'm gonna do it."

Pfft, try me.

"One."

Logan Chase cannot do anything.

"Two."

Numbers don't intimidate me.

"Three."

But what if Logan DOES do something?

My question is answered once I feel myself being lifted off the ground as Logan slings me over his shoulder.

I hit his back again and again, but of course, he is stronger than me.

"I am going to yell as loud as I can if you don't put me down, Chase." I warn.

"Try screaming in an isolated area where no one can see us, that'd be great."

Ooh, this boy is really getting on my nerve. I let out that girly, high pitched scream and hit him again and again.

Logan groans as he sets me on the ground, trying to figure out how to make me shut up. He sets his palms on my shoulders, as I am forced to look him in the eyes.

I want to close my eyes, and just pretend I'm not right here, right now, in this very moment. But my eyes find it irresistibly hard to do so, when my bland gray eyes are glued to striking blue ones.

"Cassidy, would you say something?" he demands, not letting go of me.

"No," I say softly.

"That doesn't count." he says.

"There is a word called 'no' in the dictionary. You could look it up if you want to."

He sighs, and lets go of my shoulders, but I stay rooted in place, waiting for what he's going to do next. A relieved look washes over his face when he notices I'm still there.

"Look, I'm sorry, okay? I was clearly drunk last night, and I shouldn't have made you do that dare. I didn't read any of your other letters, if that's what you're thinking."

A small smile plays on my lips.

"Okay." I say, returning to my pace and continuing the walk. Logan catches up in no time and questions me further.

"What do you mean, 'okay'? Are we cool?" he asks.

"Nah." I reply, stifling a giggle.

"Cass!" he complains.

"What? You can't force a person to forgive you, they need time!"

He narrows his eyes. I want to forgive Logan. And of course I will. But for now, I just want to see where this is all going. Besides, I'm still kinda annoyed at him and I want my revenge.

After Logan continously whining my name, we finally, finally, rech the end of the path. Surprisingly, all of our friends were already there.

"It's about time! Girl, what took you so long?" Alaine asks, slapping me on the shoulder.

"Took me so long? How did you guys get here so fast?" I question.

"The walk doesn't even take more than five minutes! Did you take the right path or the left?"

"The left one?" I say.

"You!" she screeches, pointing a finger at Logan.

"You said you'd lead her to the right way, because the staff weren't able to tell her the right instructions!" Alaine barks.

"I may or may not have done that on purpose," Logan replies with a smirk. Alaine's mood obviously lightens.

"OH MY GOSH THAT IS SO ROMANTIC!" she says. Like clockwork, my eyes automatically roll on their own.

"I ship you two, but honestly, we cannot go out of the schedule!" she says, lifting her bag and dragging me away from the group so we can speak on our own. They follow along behind us, as we go to the next destination.

"So. . . how'd it go? Did he apologize?" she questions, eyes widening like saucers.

"Yes. And it's oddly strange that you aren't attacking him and going on 'don't you ever hurt my best friend' mode."

"Oh please, I gave him a long lecture this morning and forced him to listen to one direction songs a while ago. I care more for my bestie, duh."

"Great, but I haven't forgiven him," I say.

"Why?"

"Well. . . I just want to make him suffer a little longer until the end of the day. Maybe tomorrow I'll make up with him."

"Ooh, that's amazing! Perfect, sweet revenge done in a mild way. I love it."
