Chapter 14
[Y/N's Pov]
It was early morning it's been close to a week since we fought Torchwick, we've had no luck since then. Even on my independent missions, I'd gotten nothing. Now, at this very moment, I was watching Pyrrha take on Cardin's entire team, the battle was majestic to the eye, she was so nimble, so precise in her movements it was almost inspiring.
Making even me want to change my weapons or adapt them in a way she has. It's near, perfection if I study it, no normal assassin could get the jump on her. Of course, that's in open combat, there are ways to confuse the enemy after all.
Jaune: "Go Pyrrha."
Nora: "Break their legs!!!"
Ren: "You've got this!"
It was honestly cute to see her teammates cheering their friend on, not often do you see this when your training or infighting. Within a few moments Pyrrha had taken out the entire group and I sat there absolutely astonished.
Y/N: 'You make this look so... Easy.'
Glynda Goodwitch appeared on the field, with a pen and paper in hand marking all of the students.
Glynda: "Well done Ms. Nikos, you will certainly have no problem fighting or meeting a standard for the upcoming battle tournament."
Pyrrha: "Thank you, ma'am."
Goodwitch: "Alright, now I know that's a tough act to follow. But we have time for one more sparring match. Any volunteers?"
She turned to look at me, then to Blake who'd been reading her book since the class had begun, her eyes squinted still on edge.
Glynda: "Miss Belladonna?"
Blake finally looked up from her book.
Glynda: "You've been rather docile for the past few classes. Why don't you-"
Mercury: "I'll do it."
I glanced over my shoulder spotting Mercury with his hand up. He's never shown much involvement in the classroom, sometimes even sleeping them through.
Glynda: "Mercury is it... Very well. Let's find you an opponent."
Mercury walked past me, tapping my shoulder as he reached my seat.
Mercury: "Actually, I wanna fight... Him."
He pointed towards me and for the briefest of moments genuinely shocked. He's never acted out or said anything to me.
Glynda: "Well we need to ask Mr. Auditore first."
Everyone looked at me and I stood up, ready to shake his hand and he accepted. As he whispered to me making sure no one else could hear him.
Mercury: "May the best man win."
I didn't answer, I could just tell that he knew my face from before when I stole his money and he was looking for revenge, give me some public humiliation or something. But why now.
Glynda: "I'm glad to see you're both on good terms, now let us get on to the spar."
We stepped down from the stands, given our weapons and I focused on Mercury as he stood waiting for the match to take place, he wore weapons on his leg. But how or why is beyond me. I went for my sword in its sheath.
Y/N: 'OK... He's a close fighter, should use the short sword.'
Quickly shaping the blade to how I wanted it, both Mercury and I turned to Glynda giving her a quick nod and the match took place, he ran towards me and within a second leaped into the air. I brought my sword up in a defensive position near my chest.
Just in time as his attack strikes the sword and pushed me back, I stopped and chuckled.
Y/N: 'He's trained well, far too well for a normal student.'
He lands on his feet after a quick black flip, then motions for me to come at him with two of his fingers.
Mercury: "Don't tell me I've scared you, now?"
I sheathed my blade and brought up my hands, now ready to battle in hand to hand, this made him smirk.
Mercury: "You're not stupid. At least."
He charged again and I took on a defensive stance, he swung his leg wide and I leaped into the air just in time noticing the dummy allowing him to skid past me, he bounces to his feet with little effort. But just time to block with his arms and he smiles.
Y/N: "So, you can use your hands too. Here I thought you were just a one-trick pony!"
Mercury: "You talk some real shit for a guy that's going to lose his teeth in a minute."
He raises his leg trying to strike my ribs, but I brought my knee up stopping the attack. Then we moved together. Me throwing punches while he threw kids, it was a proper battle one that I was happy to be in, we struck each other several times over. But Mercury dodged and weaved our way out of each other's grasp.
He leaps and I take his leg strike to the ribs, it would've made me scream in pain if it weren't for aura and training of year taking a hit like that. Stepping in he brought his arm up expecting a punch in the face instead I toppled him over, making him hit the floor as my fist connected with the stomach.
Mercury: "Ah!"
Y/N: "Now bow."
I leaped on top of him already in a grapple position, holding his left arm. I pulled it back as he screams in pain, his leg strength was impressive. But I had techniques to choke him out and if nothing else rip the arm clean off.
Y/N: "Yield!"
His feet pointed to the floor, then he shot us both up into the air I moved to his neck now, I could hear him being chocked out. Everything told me, any more pressure and I'd snap his neck. I watched his hand reach for one of my throwing knives going for the left eye.
Instinct took over as I pushed myself off him, landing on the floor with my back hitting first. I screamed and looked up to see him racing towards me. I rolled, just in time to miss his attack, and got to one knee as he smiled with vicious intent, but the blade wasn't in his hand anymore.
Y/N: 'What the-'
Glynda: "That's enough, both of you!"
I turned to Glynda and nodded, noticing how out of breath I was from this battle. We only fought for a few minutes. But what was that, he's coming at me like he wants to kill me. It's not that I didn't notice it.
Glynda: "Mercury you win."
Mercury: "Of course."
I studied my scroll noticing that my supposed near limitless amount of aura was gone. I shook my head; I'd barely even used it.
Mercury walked past me tapping my shoulder.
Mercury: "Maybe next... Buddy."
I didn't turn or stare at him, instead, I focused on the battle ahead. We were going to toe to toe, neither of us got a damaging hit in. Nothing serious at least, I barely felt that attack. So why did it go down by that much?
Glynda: "Alright class is over and I'll see you all tomorrow."
I walked off and honestly looked to the floor suspicious of that whole fight. We were going at it. But, Mercury wasn't showing off all his moves. It's like it was almost a game to him.
Ruby: "Better luck next time."
I looked up and found Ruby and her team, along with everyone else staring at me.
Yang: "Yeah it happens, well not to me."
Pyrrha: "Yang?"
Yang: "It's true."
Ren: "What's wrong, you seem disturbed?"
Y/N: "It's nothing... Just mean's I have to train a lot more."
Mercury: "Yeah, a lot more."
He sniggered as he walked off with Emerald, she turned back and with her mouth, she said 'Sorry...' and followed her teammate. I clenched my hand up and growled. Quickly I shook my head as I felt this connection with another Faunus connection coming on.
Jaune: "Sorry man."
Y/N: "Don't worry about it, it... happens. Remember that."
He nods, we walked out of the class all heading back to our dorms. But as we started walking Neptune and Sun appeared around the corner also finishing their class. Sun walked over to Blake who was lagging.
Sun: "Hey Blake you uh, doing okay?"
Blake: "I'm fine..."
Sun: "So I hear there's this dance going on this weekend. Ah, that sounds pretty lame. But, you and me thinking not as lame. Huh?"
I raised an eyebrow at that.
Y/N: 'A dance... Completely forgot about.'
Blake: "What?"
Sun: "The dance, this weekend, you wanna go or what?"
Blake: "I don't have time for a stupid dance. I thought you of all people would get that."
She stormed off and I looked to Ruby for a moment. She was just as concerned.
Y/N: "Ah, what's going on?"
Ruby shrugged her shoulders just as confused. Our little group finally made it to our dorm room, I was about to open my door when Jaune spoke up behind me.
Jaune: "Hey um, Y/N. By any chance can you play the guitar... Would you?"
I raised an eyebrow, never once mentioning that yes. Technically I did, but it wasn't exactly something I brought up in any conversation.
Y/N: "Yes... Why?"
Jaune: "Perfect, you've got to help me out."
[Time Skip]
Y/N: "Jaune..."
Jaune: "Yes?"
I look at him with a guitar in my hand as he goes over his notes to ask out Weiss, I rolled my eyes as we stood in the hallway. I caught only a glimpse of Blake walking off in a fit, making this all the worse I suppose.
Y/N: "You're my friend right?"
Jaune: "Oh, completely I consider you a great friend."
Y/N: "Good, we shall never speak of this to anyone or anything. Not even in casual conversations. Am I clear?"
Jaune: "O...K. Ready?"
I pluck all the strings and nod, taking note they were all in the right key.
Jaune: "Let's do this!"
Jaune knocks on the door and Weiss was the one to answer, one cue I play a quick melody with his voice and started to hum along, trying my best to help him.
https://youtu.be/n5gOqo1o7M8
Jaune: "Weiss Schnee, will you accompany me, to the dance on... Sunday~"
No offense to Jaune, but he's not exactly a singer.
Weiss: "Are you done?"
Jaune: "Yes?"
With that, the door is slammed shut and I groan, watching Jaune walk off in a bitter mood than even I was. I knocked on the door myself and spoke up.
Y/N: "May I come in?"
Weiss: "Depends... Do you still have the guitar?"
I looked down at the instrument and groan.
Y/N: "Yes..."
Weiss: "No."
Y/N: "I won't play it anymore."
Weiss opens the door and smiles.
Weiss: "That's fair."
I handed her the instrument and walked in, noticing the sower mood in the place.
Y/N: "Let me guess, Blake?"
Yang: "That easy huh?"
I nodded and took a seat beside Ruby on one of the beds, as they did the same. We sat there in a moment of silence. Forcing Ruby to speak up.
Ruby: "I ah... didn't know you could play?"
I shrugged my shoulders.
Y/N: "Not something that I like to mention about me. But, thanks it's the first time I've played for an audience besides my family. So how's Blake doing?"
Yang: "Terribly."
Ruby: "She doesn't want to eat, barely sleeps, and doesn't even want to talk."
I nodded and looked at my gauntlet, pulling out one of the darts.
Y/N: "I could always use one of these to make her sleep?"
Weiss: "I don't think that's going to help."
I nod and place it back in my gauntlet, then look to the girls.
Y/N: "Let me talk with her, where did she go anyway?"
Ruby: "The library... I think."
Yang: "Hey, I'll come with you two."
As we're about to walk out Weiss coughs in her hand and I turn to see her pointing to the guitar and take it. Knowing I'll have to keep it for the day anyway, since Jaune is in one of his moods, maybe after practice.
After ten or so minutes we found Blake in the library, reading a book. Her eyes barely even registering what is going on or what she is ready for. I chuckled and looked to Yang, we were the only students in the library and no teacher was in here.
Y/N: "Want to do something fun?"
She looked at me while I lifted the guitar. Yang gave me a sassy grin and nodded, I plucked a few strings making Blake twitch and turn towards us. She stormed over in a fuss but soon stopped when she noticed it was us.
Y/N: "Hey kitty cat..."
Blake shook her head and stared at me.
Blake: "Stop calling me that! Why are you two even here!?"
Yang: "We're worried about you. "
Blake: "Well, you don't need to be. I'm fine!"
Y/N: "And the screaming clearly shows that?"
She stared at me for a moment, this entire time I'd been playing along with her scream and didn't even notice. A habit I picked up when Leonardo wanted me to practice for a few hours.
I placed the instrument leaning against a bookcase and chuckle.
Y/N: "Heh heh, sorry. Force of habit."
Blake: "Guys I'm fine!"
Yang: "Blake just talk to us, you promised you would be more open."
Blake looked at me and I shrugged my shoulders.
Y/N: "I'm here, because of you. Nothing else, I don't want to see you like this. Sleepless nights and barely even registering our conversations, you're a smart beautiful girl. So please, just listen to us. We want to help you."
Blake looked to the floor for the briefest of moments.
Blake: "Can... We please talk. Somewhere else?"
We walked to the nearest open classroom, Yang looking towards me and I could tell by the look in her eyes she had something to say.
Yang: "Can you... Um, just give us a moment, please. A girl talk... Yeah, girl talk."
It sounded confident. But wasn't the same thing leaving her mouth, I looked at her and nodded.
Y/N: "Sure, I can wait outside if you need me."
I shut the door behind me and leaned against the wall, closing my eyes for a moment as I focused on the world around me. Dipping into that Grimm like power from before and listened in, I cared for the two of them. But that didn't mean I didn't want to know what is going on.
Blake: "Alright we're all alone what is it. Are you going to tell me to stop searching, to stop trying to do my best?"
Yang: "Of course not. I just want to slow down."
Blake: "We don't have the luxury to slow down."
Yang: "It's not a luxury. It's a necessity."
Blake: "The necessity is stopping Torchwick."
Yang: "And we're going to. But first, you have to sit down and listen to what I have to say."
Blake: "Fine..."
For the next few moments, Yang starts to open up and mentions her family along with the life she had growing up, losing her mom. Her dad... Just stopping, how he lost two lovers and Yang's will and want for answers from her mother.
I looked to the floor, not sure what to say, and closed my eyes once again, listening in. Hearing about how Yang put Ruby in danger, how Qrow saved them. Some odd way I could relate to my brashness for answers when I was young.
Yang and Blake opened up, it made me smile and bad for listening in. I rolled down the wall and sat on the floor feeling a bit of exhaustion and emotions coming on, missing a bit of home and everything. I punched the bridge of my nose and sighed.
Trying my best to hold myself together.
Y/N: "Focus... Just focus."
As I said those words, I felt something move over to my side. My eyes shot open to find a Grimm laying beside me in a ball like state, it had the whiskers of a cat and could be considered a medium-sized jungle cat. I chuckled and covered my mouth in shock.
Y/N: "Emotions... Great..."
The cat purred out and made me smile, make want to stroke the large animal that was nearly size in height. My mind focused on the Grimm that this one could be... He looked just like the cat I fought with Winter, in our little jungle trip.
Y/N: "Huh, I'm not handling this as well as I thought."
Yang: "Hey, you alright?"
Yang was stood in the doorway watching me and I shrugged my shoulders not sure how to answer it. I'm sad, but it's not haunting or painful. It's just the truth, I miss my folks.
Y/N: "Yeah... I'm good aren't we?"
"Raaar."
Yang offered her hand and helped me up, I looked towards Blake and then to Yang.
Y/N: "Guess I wasn't needed."
Yang: "Oh, I don't know. I mean, she seems happy to see you."
We both looked to Blake and I shrugged.
Y/N: "Sure."
Yang: "Hey"
I turned to her and watched her wink at me, as she walked off down the hall.
Yang: "I get the first dance with her, deal."
Y/N: "Sure, go crazy"
She fist-pumped the air, allowing me to face Blake who was walking up the steps. Her one arm hug the other as she stared at me.
Blake: "Hey..."
I reached around and hugged her, catching her off guard.
Y/N: "Hey... Glad to see your better."
Blake: "O-Of course. So were you going to ask me anything?"
She said that in an almost curious tone. I've noticed a few things when we spoke. We opened up and had this ability to talk for hours. It seems I got a few hints that she wanted me to take her to the dance by Nora and Pyrrha, along with team RWBY.
Y/N: "Yeah... Um, give me a moment. I've, never said this before."
Blake: "It can't be that bad."
Y/N: "It's not that it's bad, it's just. I'm not used to being open. You've brought that out of me."
She blushes and I looked at her hand wanting to hold it, I honestly didn't know why. I wanted to all of sudden.
Y/N: "So, I think you know the dance is coming up."
She smiles and nods in between, making me blush a bit.
Y/N: "I'm going to phrase this terribly wrong... But, I'm hoping we could go together. I mean, if you wanted to. Because Sun did ask before me so-hmm."
My lips were suddenly met with hers, making my heart honestly skip a beat. When our lips parted I stepped back. Shocked and honestly surprised by that.
Blake: "I'd love to..."
Y/N: "Uh... OK. I mean. I'll... You-"
Blake simply walked past, giving me a quick peck on the cheek, and out reflex, I held my cheek and smiled. Smiling and looked back at her.
Y/N: "Wow..."
[Time Skip]
Y/N: "Why am I here again?"
I looked to Yang picking up one of the few heavy speakers, doing the same, and groan. This had been going on for the past fifteen minutes, with Weiss telling me to move it from one side of the room to the next.
Yang: "Cause we needed the help."
Weiss: "Also Blake is sleeping and can't help us, lover boy."
Y/N: "Oh, Haha."
Quickly placing the speaker down once more, I sigh feeling out of breath, and turn to Ruby who's dealing with interior designer Weiss. I was more grateful to not have that job, than anything else.
Never had an eye for the interior or design.
Weiss: "No, move it again."
Y/N: "Mother of... Where?"
She points further to the corner and picked it up again. Then finally sit down on top of the speaker.
Y/N: "This is where it shall stay for the remainder of this event. Anyone says otherwise. Fight me!"
Weiss: "Actually it's perfect."
Y/N: "Hooray..."
Ruby: "Something wrong Y/N, worried about the dance?"
Dropping down from the speaker, I walked over to Ruby shaking my head.
Y/N: "Believe it or not, I'm not worried about that. More worried about how Sun is going to handle the news about Blake-"
Sun: "What news?"
We all turned to see Neptune and Sun entering the room, they wore their normal attire. However, the two were more stunned by the decorations than anything else. In a few hours, the party would begin.
Neptune: "Man this party's going to be great."
Sun: "Not for me, I have to wear a damn tie."
Y/N: "No you don't."
Neptune: "Dude it's a ball, you've got to look presentable."
Y/N: "I swear if I heard that for every party member my father held. It wouldn't be a party."
Sun: "So...Where's Blake?"
Yang: "Resting... Yeah, she's exhausted."
Sun: "Cool, so anyone asks you, girls, to the dance yet?"
They all shook their heads and for the briefest of the moment, I watched Weiss look to Neptune with longing eyes. Making me cough into my hand.
Y/N: "Well, be that as it may. You guys willing to help set up the place?"
Neptune: "And look at the-"
Sun: "We'd love to."
[Time Skip]
It's been a few hours after setting up the party, after putting on my suit and such. I walked outside to Blake's room to see her in a beautiful purple dress with dark black heels. I smiled catching her off guard.
Blake: "Do I look good?"
I went for her right hand and squeezed it making her look at me.
Y/N: "You look beautiful."
Blake: "You look the same... Except."
She went for the tie on my neck, and carefully pulled it off. Fixing my collar and pushing back my hair so it's now got a wave in it.
Blake: "So much better."
Y/N: "Thank god you did that, it felt like I was being strangled. "
She giggled and held my cheek with her right hand. I step closer about to kiss her when I hear an.
"AWWWW~"
Blake turned to see Yang staring at us in her white dress for the ball. With Ruby and Weiss following closely behind.
Ruby: "Yang can I please change these shoes."
Yang: "No way, it's a dance and you look good in those heels."
Ruby is about a fall, but Weiss catches her at the last moment. Giving a groan defeated.
Weiss: "Try to control yourself... Focus on the steps. Heel, toe. Heel-toe."
Ruby beings to chant these words, but with every few steps. She nearly trips. Forcing me to grab her arm and made me lead her down the hall of the campus, while Blake does the same.
As we reached the door we were the first ones here, acting as the host. Inviting the students in while Blake and Weiss, along with Blake going inside setting things, revealing punch, snacks, and so on.
While Yang and I act as a bouncer each near the entrance, soon enough most of the students had made their way in allowing us to finally join the party, I watched Blake and Yang dance for a bit. Finally, being allowed to dance with my girlfriend.
She knew the basics of the waltz, some of the few students who knew how to dance followed our suit. However, none of them were as good as they thought and now and again you'd hear either a man or a woman screaming as their foot was stepped on.
When we walked off, Blake heading off to see Sun and Neptune. I strolled over to Weiss who sat alone in the corner of the room, bringing over a glass of punch for her.
Y/N: "Why so glum Weiss? Your party is a major success everyone is enjoying the food, drink. Some are even trying to dance."
I handed her a glass of punch, while I take the open seat beside her. I watched Weiss take a large gulp of the drink finishing it in one go, then turns her head to the dance floor.
Weiss: "Yeah dancing... The party is a total failure. I wanted it to be magnificent... Instead i've got... This."
I looked at the dance floor and listened to the music being played. A lot of the kids didn't seem to know where to stand and the few that did. Didn't do the dancing justice. True there were a few that knew the basic steps and were better than most. But it seemed more like people weren't sure of themselves, that was the problem.
Glancing over to the DJ, I watched his head swing up and down like a rock star. Clearly not listening to the same music we were. I sucked on my front tooth and downed my drink turning quickly to Weiss
Y/N: "Weiss... You can dance right?"
She scoffed at that comment.
Weiss: "Of course I can. I'm formally trained in ballroom dancing and-"
Y/N: "Yeah, yeah... How about the Walts or Tango or Flamenco?"
Weiss stared at me for a very long time, clearly confused by my question.
Weiss: "I mean... Yeah but- Hey where are you going?"
Y/N: "Be back in a minute."
I walked over to the DJ, pulling out my wallet catching his eye. He looked at me taking out one of his earbuds, so he could hear me.
DJ: "What's up... What would you-"
Y/N: "Tango music, give me Astor Piazzolla."
DJ: "Umm... What?"
I grabbed a pen from his desk and write out the name of the song, handing it to him along with the money and for a moment watched the room become silent as most of the dancers look at each other, unsure how to dance to this type of music.
Strolling over to Weiss, I push my hair back and fix my suit. My hand was the first thing to reach her and she looked up at me confused.
Y/N: "May I have this dance ma 'dam?"
Weiss: "You can't be serious, but... Ok."
I walk her onto the dance floor, making everyone turn to us even the teachers and such. I place my arm on Weiss's back, while her left hand rested on my shoulder.
Weiss: "Huh, you know what you're doing. I'm genuinely impressed."
I looked at the crowd as they slowly turn to the dance floor, my voice came slow and deep making sure Weiss would listen in.
Y/N: "You know how Tango works... The point of this dance is to show off the female dancer and make her the most desirable woman in this entire room."
She locked onto my eyes, while I dipped her down closer to the floor.
Y/N: "They must... Feel jealously boiling up inside them. Because they could only dream of dancing like you will tonight."
Weiss: "Are you... Hitting on me~"
I pulled her up to my level and walked her around the room, making our steps quick-paced, everyone's eyes were focused on us. We turned and I lifted Weiss into the air for the briefest of moments.
Meanwhile, this is happening I'm counting and taking note of the steps.
'Tap, tap. Lead... And back.'
I spun her and looked away, making her stare up at me. She'd done this a few times and knew how to step. Letting go of my hands and trying to walk away, and before they could see it. I've placed my right arm on her waist as I rest my head on her shoulder.
She pushes me back, and carefully and seductively steps toward me, places her arms around my neck, as we step to the right, and leans on me.
Weiss whispers ever so slightly.
Weiss: "There watching..."
Y/N: "Don't focus on them... Focus on me."
She turns back to me, as my hand reaches hers. Spinning her around as we started once again in this little dance of power and beauty. Using the dance floor as our playground. Her hand hugged my cheek as I focused on her face, her left leg moving up my own.
I move back and she leans onto me. With a quick step, Weiss is once more in the air and on the ground in a manner of seconds. We end where we started once more. My arms around her waist as she stands so close we could lock lips.
The music stops.
The room was silent; the ambiance was haunting... But very quickly, out of nowhere, almost all the students of Beacon started clapping profusely as we did a slight bow, leading Weiss off the dance floor towards Ruby and Yang. With Blake waiting for both of us.
However, before Blake couldn't speak as Ruby runs over to us finally out of her heels.
Ruby: "That. Was. Amazing!!!"
Ruby hugged both Weiss and me, making a move even closer than before. Then lets us go allowing some room to breathe.
Ruby: "What was that move when you were in the air and what about the-"
Weiss: "I thought you didn't like dancing Ruby?"
Ruby: "That was before I saw that!"
Yang punches my arm and chuckles.
Yang: "Who knew you could dance like that!?"
Y/N: "It's... Common where I'm located to learn this type of stuff when your young."
Blake stepped closer to Y/N and stares up at him, with a slightly jealous and amused smile on her face.
Blake: "It was amazing... Thank goodness that wasn't me. I wouldn't have known what to do."
She pushed back a strand of her black hair, making me look back at the dance floor one more time.
Y/N: "I can teach you the steps when we're alone-"
Yang: "Not until you dance with me, lover boy."
Yang drags me onto the floor making the remaining RWBY team let out a giggle or two, with the magic turning back to normal waltz music once more. But halfway through the music changes to the modern genre. Making me chuckle as Yang takes over the dancing technique.
Yang: "Yeah, like that loosen up."
I shook my head, knowing what my old dancing teacher would say.
Y/N: 'You are no good at this... You should donate your two left feet to someone that needs it... I'll dance on your fucking grave-'
Yang: "Are you alright, you look kind of angry."
I looked down and noticed had moved closer to me now dancing like a proper nightclub dancer, making me stop and shake my head.
Y/N: "Yeah... Just remembering something."
Yang: "Loosen up and feel the music."
She grabbed my arms making me with her, making me honestly chuckle in between movements.
Y/N: "Believe it or not... I'm not used to this kind of dancing."
Yang: "Stop thinking and just dance."
Blake: "Here just-"
I looked over to Blake who's made her way towards me, along with Sun. For the next few minutes, Sun and I looked like complete fools, learning whatever dance move we could from the girls. I finally sat down and sighed, turning to our friends as we search for Team JNPR.
But as we found Jaune walking into the room with a white dress on, dancing with Pyrrha make me chuckle and give the man a hand for what he's done. The two have an amazing time. Blake leaned against my arm as we watched the people crowd around them.
Blake: "This was fun... I needed this."
Y/N: "Me too. We need to have days like these... When everyone is happy."
Blake: "Exactly, shame it can't last."
Y/N: "I think that's a good thing."
Blake: "Why?"
I smiled and kissed her cheek.
Y/N: "You start to appreciate things a lot more, when there rare and in-between. When you look on these days with a smile and hope."
Blake kissed my cheek and smiled as we watched the teams dance on into the night. However, something happened. I watched Ironwood leave the ball making me glance around the room for team RWBY.
Y/N: "Um, Blake... Where's Ruby?"
[Time Skip]
Ironwood: "Why weren't you focused on anything strange, if you're supposed to be one of the best. Why didn't you see it coming!"
I turned to Ironwood, my arms crossed over my chest. As I turned to Ozpin, we were in the headmaster's room, I'd only learned later on that someone had sneaked in, taking down a few guards along the way.
Gathering information on something that no one knew right now. Ruby had somehow been caught following the intruder before she could strike though. The person vanished, leading me to skip class and make my way to Ozpin's office.
Y/N: "I'm not your soldier, I wasn't positioned anywhere near that part of the school and for the record. I was playing my part of the student. Why wouldn't I be focusing on the dance on an important evening like this."
Ironwood: "You no longer have any leeway on this... You should've noticed something."
Y/N: "All I noticed was just that... Nothing. Whoever did this, clearly had this planned the moment we held the event. They probably used it as a cover, I would've."
Ozpin: "That's enough... Both of you. There's no need for anyone to die this morning. But Ironwood, have you found out anything as of yet?"
Ironwood: "No... We have not, whatever they were searching for, they did it in silence. Deleting any records of it."
I spun around turning to the glass window and scratched the back of my head for a brief moment.
Y/N: "So... We know nothing... That doesn't make sense. If it were the White Fang, we'd seen it coming."
Ironwood: "That's what I believe too..."
Ozpin: "So, you both believe there is a mole in Beacon."
I shrugged my shoulders.
Y/N: "I made it here."
Ironwood: "Yes, but that was via different means."
Ozpin: "Y/N, who do you believe stands out?"
Y/N: "I don't know... Let's think about it, you've got students being trained to kill Grimm for god's sake. If anyone stood out, I'd tell you. Because it's all of them. You're training students to hunt creatures down, that are the size of lions, elephants, and so on. Who sticks out... Hmm, any that could kill anything."
This made ironwood chuckle while Ozpin stroked his stubble on his chin for a moment. But I turned to Ironwood once again.
Y/N: "There must be something that Ruby said?"
Ozpin: "All that Ms. Rose saw, was a young woman. With a mask on, dressed in all black and used these as weapons."
Ozpin brought out these black glass fragments, I picked one up and turned to him.
Y/N: "Glass... She used. Glass?"
Ironwood: "Indeed, it's rare. But it's not uncommon either."
Ozpin: "You've never seen this have you Y/N?"
I shook my head, focusing on the glass for a moment. Noting the cracks and odd dark color that these little pieces gave off.
Y/N: "No... How would one use this?"
Ironwood: "It's created via dust and then can be manipulated into a weapon. The glass weapon could be as strong as metal and can manipulate to a finite degree."
Y/N: "Manipulative... There's more of this isn't there?"
Ozpin: "Larger than one would usually have."
Ironwood: "If my men couldn't find this person. Then our best guess is she used the glass as a disguise, to hide or something or the other."
Quickly placing the glass down, I crossed my arms over my chest and groaned.
Y/N: "Would you like me to look into this."
Ironwood: "There's no-"
Ozpin: "If you wouldn't mind. But might I suggest keeping your eyes on the students and the few who seem... Off."
Ironwood: "Ozpin!"
Y/N: "Understood. I'll be off to class, don't want me standing out too much now. General."
With that, I walked past Ironwood, already in the elevator and taking a deep breath and sigh. Knowing, I should've seen this coming, but things were on the mind that day. With Blake along with me doing my best to be a boyfriend now. New steps and boundaries I must take.
However, as much as I tried my best to talk myself up and stay focused. My mind was focused on Blake that night after the party and how we walked back to our room. Unknown to Weiss, Yang had spiked the punch bowl.
With most of the students passing out after a while. Leading me to walk Blake back to her room and within opening the door and placing her on the bed, already hearing Ruby softly snoring on the other side. While Weiss brushes her teeth before bed.
Yang was the only one sleeping on the floor as we stepped in. Blake clips her heels off and pulls me onto the bed, I watched her ears bend down as she snuggled up into my chest making me smile before I could stop myself. My arm had wrapped around her waist as I lay my head on her pillow.
Taking a moment to let this all... Sink in.
Blake: "This was a great night."
Y/N: "Best I've had in a long time."
Blake looked up at me as my index fingers booped her nose. Making her swat my hand aside.
Y/N: "Thank you for making it better beautiful."
Blake: "Stop it~"
I kissed her forehead, then turned to Weiss who was tapping her foot on the floor as she focused on me. Already knowing what she's going to say, I get up from Blake's bed. I place Yang on her bed and say goodnight. Blake blowing me a kiss, before she simply blushes realizing how embarrassing it was.
I felt a jolt and was knocked out of my thought, realizing the elevator had finally reached the ground floor. I shook my head and walked off.
Y/N: 'Focus... Focus... Blake will be there when I get back. Like Ezio, say's 'Don't be clingy, be open and honest.'
With that I walked over to my classroom, being already kicked out because of my late state, and stood in the hallway for a moment or two, staring at the ceiling then notice a semi-young girl. Walking out of one of the classrooms, she had dark black hair draped over her shoulder. She smiled as she walked past.
Y/N: 'Do I know here...'
Sun: "Hey buddy."
I turned to find Sun walking in behind me taking his stance as we waited outside for the class to end.
Y/N: "So you slept in."
Sun: "Well... Kind of."
My eyebrow slowly raised as I stared at his unkempt clothes.
Y/N: "Late to class?"
Sun: "Dude you need to stop worrying, besides it the first time in... A few weeks that I was late."
I nodded, knowing it wasn't the first time I'd been kicked out of a class either. Didn't mind considering I often listened in during the classes learning on my own was simple enough. But being in class was more advantageous because the teachers would often mention things not located in the books.
Sun: "So... Blake and you are dating..."
I turned to Sun and stroked my chin not sure what to say.
Y/N: "Well-"
Sun: "Good for you too."
I turned to Sun, studying him for a moment. My shoulders lowered and eyes now watching him, he stood still and had a smile on his face that seemed so effortless. He showed no defense or stance.
Y/N: "I can't tell if your lying or not?"
Sun: "What are you on about?"
Y/N: "I mean, aren't you kind of annoyed by me or angry in some way because... Blake and I are, together?"
Sun without even missing a beat says no. Making my eyebrow raise. I knew what a woman could do to men fight amongst themselves, I'd seen first-hand. So what was he doing?
Y/N: "Explain?"
Sun: "Well, the two of you like each other and... I don't know. So long as the two of you are happy and no one is getting hurt. Then, what's the point of holding a grudge?"
Y/N: "That is very... Adult of you Sun."
Sun: "It's all cool. Besides Blake just needs help you know."
I nodded as a faint smile made its way across my face. I honestly didn't know what to do and turned back to the class, spotting the same girl from before, entering another class.
Sun: "What? What's wrong?"
Y/N: "Nothing. But, do you know that student?"
Sun: "Not really. Ruby might. Why?"
Y/N: "Just asking..."
