Chapter 3
It was an early morning for you, after the little discussion you had with Ozpin. Made you wonder about a few things, mainly this continent and where is this Templar.
Your job mission was to confirm that an immigrant is working with Roman, after last night. You can say for certain yes that's true... But who is the question? and where are they?
No doubt about though, a Templar is more often than not the cause, but why here, why now.
These were questions you puzzled over, as you prepared for the day ahead.
Cleaning, preparing your weapons was one of the few things you did often. After that, you created some extra bombs in case of something happening. Some of them being poison, or something for distraction purposes.
Finally finishing your last project. You took notice of your stock on hand.
Y/N: 'That's not a lot...'
You grabbed the most basic of equipment, before leaving Italy. But since being here. It seemed common for a lot of people to carry weapons.
Y/N: 'There's got to be a blacksmith or someone i can talk to about getting some extra weapons.'
Ramaru: "HEY SHUT UP!!!"
You peered out of your bedroom door to see your informant. He's been screaming for the last few minutes on his phone. The man was a slob and personally bothersome.
He often of times had nothing good to say and had little to no information about Vail or your target.
The reason he requested the creed, was because some of his money had gotten stolen. You often paid him no mind.
After all, he's a thief a very poor one at that too.
Ramaru: "Listen all i'm saying is give me another shot."
He walks off.
Ramaru: "Yes i know what happened last time, but it's not my fault."
Ramaru start walking around in circles in thought while you finally take get ready to leave.
Ramaru: "But i have the money, i swear... Yes for you to, along with Harry, yes, now let me have a-"
The phone dies and the man screams.
Ramaru: "Why I ought ta. When I get my hands on you i will-"
You closed your door and lock the door, as your about to leave the XXX turns to you confused.
Ramaru: "Where are you going quello piccolo [Small one] the sun's still up."
You turn to him.
Y/N: "We also work during the day, i have a meeting i need to get to is all."
Ramaru: "A meeting? With you? What did you do boy!"
The man grabbed your shoulder, but you swung around grabbing his arm, swinging him around then pin him to the floor.
Y/N: "Do that again, and i'm taking your fingers... Also, I'm not doing any of your jobs."
He grunts.
Ramaru: "Ma ho bisogno di te, l'uomo è davvero il tuo obiettivo!" [But i need you, the man is really your target.]
Y/N: "Il tuo obiettivo è un uomo che ha vinto i tuoi soldi, non è un templare, inoltre ... Non hai fatto nulla per aiutarmi a trovare Roman Torchwick." [Your target is a man that won your money, he's no Templar, Plus, You've done nothing in aiding me find Roman Torchwick.]
You release his arm from your hold and walk off, but the man speaks up as he holds his arm,
Ramaru: "That man is your reason for being here! He must be the one."
You turn to him.
Y/N: "He's one of the few immigrants in this country that came here legally. What would I want with a bar owner anyway?"
Ramaru: "But, but."
Y/N: "Riposa in pace, all'inferno che hai fatto." [Rest in peace, in the hell you've made.]
With that, you slammed the door behind you and walked off to Beacon.
[Time Skip brought you by Y/N strolling the streets in day light]
You stood in the square of Beacon, your eyes scanned the beautiful school. From its large elegant buildings to the school grounds where well kept and maintained. This school in all its design was a breath-taking display. In a way, it reminded you of some of the Castles in Europe. Still, you had to admit there was a sense of worry that hung in the air.
As you waited for Ozpin and Glynda to arrive, you've been eyeing the attire of the school students and they've been doing the same with you.
After all, you'll never forget someone that wears your clothing. Now and again a few students observing your attire rather perplexed, while some stared at you wondering what hood underneath your hood, but as you turned to them, they started to run.
It was mediocre at best, their stares were a common thing, especially during the daylight.
Good Witch "Good morning, I see you arrived ahead of schedule."
You peered up looking at Glynda.
Y/N: "Good morning."
She nods, however her eyes start to wonder, glancing over the few weapons that hung on your belt.
Glynda: "At least you haven't killed anyone yet." She said with a grin. "Come with me... There is much to discuss."
She motioned for you to follow and you did.
Glynda: "The founding of beacon was during the end of the Great War, 80 years ago, it was founded to train young men, women. Who wished to become huntsmen or huntresses."
She prattles on and you slowly scan the area. it was interesting walking around the area. But, this tour was a bit dull for your taste.
Without her known, you step out of sight and decided to have a birds-eye view of the place.
You glanced up at the large building.
Y/N: 'Perfect.'
[Third Pov]
I had just finished explaining the rules and regulations of Beacon. I smacked my cane into my open hand smiling pleased.
Glynda: 'I'll teach this child the meaning of respect.'
I turned around with my eyes closed, pleased with my actions.
Glynda: "If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask?"
???: "I have one?"
I turn to the voice, knowing straight away it was Ozpin.
Glynda: "Yes, what is it Ozpin?"
Ozpin: "Who are talking to?"
Glynda: "To the-"
I turned around shocked.
Glynda:"Where is he?"
I glanced back and forth wondering where he had gone to, i felt my pulse rising.
However, Ozpin merely tilts his head up and I follow suit, there at the top of a nearby building was Y/N, he seemed to be looking down at us.
Glynda: "YOUNG MAN GE-"
I was stopped and turned to Ozpin, who merely tells me to be silent for a moment. A few seconds pass and Y/N leaps off the building.
[Y/N's Pov]
You cherished the view for a moment, this was so different from what you've seen over the past few days.
Living in the pigsty of an apartment, to even the brick walls of the city. You wanted a bit of open air. To relax.
But it was short-lived, you felt a few stares from so high up and noticed Ozpin and Glynda staring at you from down below.
With a sigh letting out whatever little joy you felt moments ago race away. You stood up and leaped.
It wasn't a bad height you were jumping from, it should be at least what eight stories high or so. However, as you fell, you landed into a pile of leaves.
You jumped out unharmed, then made your way to Ozpin and Glynda's side.
Y/N: "I'm sorry for all that, i just need a birds-eye view is all, sorry for keeping you waiting."
Ozpin: "No harm done."
You bowed thanking him for understanding. Yet, that didn't seem to float with Glynda.
Glynda: "Do you have any idea how many school rules you broke!"
Y/N: "Ahh-"
Glynda: "At least five of them. I'm not even going to mention how reckless and dangerous that stunt you pulled off a moment ago."
Glynda stepped closer to you know staring you down, you were at least her height, but it didn't matter, she was furious.
Glynda: "Why I have half a mind to suspended you for what you just did."
Ozpin: "Yet Glynda, you're not the principle are you. Merely the vice principal."
The two of them stared each other down and you merely looked the other way.
Y/N: 'This is going nowhere.'
Ozpin: "Let's not fight in front of the new student Glynda. Mr. L/N, I would be so kind and follow me, I'll show your living quarters and classes."
You remained silent and followed closely behind, while Glynda merely looked the other way.
Ozpin: "Now we'll need to work on your room requirements and a few other things. Is this all that you have on hand."
Y/N: "Yes this is all I have."
Ozpin: "Interesting, now if Glynda will soon take you to the initiation field and the-"
Y/N: "Wow, wow, what's this about initiation?"
Glynda merely rolled her eyes annoyed.
Glynda: "All new students must take the initiation to go to school here."
You shrugged your shoulder.
Y/N: "Can't I just... Skip it?"
Ozpin fixes his glasses.
Ozpin: "Well your an exception to the rule, most of the students arrived a month or so ago, which is why it's a little-"
Glynda: "We can not compromise our moral and traditions for this boy."
You sighed annoyed but what your hearing, but know this is the best course of action.
Y/N: "Alright, what do I need to do?"
Ozpin and Glynda stare at each other for a moment.
Ozpin: "You must bring back a relic."
Y/N: "A relic of what?"
Glynda: "I shall explain, follow me."
[Time Skip brought you by Y/N being dragged along by Ruby]
You were standing just outside of the academy, you followed Ozpin and Glynda to the entrance exam area. It's a very important spot apparently. Yet to you, it's just a side of a cliff.
You were handed a piece of equipment, it looked like a phone of some kind.

Glynda: "That is your 'scroll' it will be tracking your every movement, just in case something happens."
You nodded and turned back to Ozpin.
Y/N: "Just so I understand... You want me to- what again?"
Ozpin: "Go to the Emerald forest, which holds a good deal of Grimm in all manner of shapes and sizes. After which make your way to the northern fork of the forest, you will meet with opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path or you will die...."
You chuckled.
Y/N: "You make it sound dangerous. Why is that?"
Glynda: "You'll be facing Grimm, don't underestimate them."
You nod, but the word Grimm seemed odd to you.
Y/N: "Ahh, what's a Grimm?"
They didn't answer as Ozpin speaks up.
Ozpin: "We'll be monitoring you for the period of the exam... But we will not interfere with you in any way possible, understood."
You shrugged your shoulder.
Y/N: "Yes, I understand. But what is a Grimm?"
He pushes it aside again.
Ozpin: "Good, there is an abandoned temple near the North. It holds several relics pick one and from there head back to Beacon."
Y/N: "OK." You shrugged your shoulder 'I guess Grimm must be some form of animal or something.'
Glynda begins to count down from five. Ozpin looks to you and remembers something.
Ozpin"Mr. L/N remember to have a landing strategy before you take off?"
You stared at him confused and spoke up,
Y/N: "What do you mean landing strategy-"
Without a warning, Glynda pressed a button the button and you're flung through the air.
The wind runs past your body at such a speed, you were able to keep your eye's open. You would be freaking out if you hadn't practiced the leap of faith so many times, that you enjoyed being in the air. However, there is no water around or underneath you to break your fall. Nothing that can save you from this type of height.
You took note of your slow and sure decent, as it becomes more noticeable.
As miss or tap the branches of a nearby tree.
Without a second thought, you aim with your right hand and fire at one of the trees.
Your grappling hook sinks in, holding firmly to the tree, but the momentum was still too strong, forcing you to swings you to the right and in mid-air.
Pulling your legs in and pulling yourself up, you miss a trunk of a tree. Sending you hurtling into the air. High above the tree line.
Clipping the line and somersault in the air. You leap once more and grab a branch.
CRACK
You turned back to see the branch you just landed on break and fall to the floor.
You let our a huff of air, trapped in your lungs. In those few seconds, you must've stopped breathing.
Quickly thrusting your legs up in the air, you spun and landed on the branch you clung on only moments ago. You land one of the tree's branches. It cracks and you leap again.
You crouched down on your knees, take a moment to think.
Y/N: 'It's official, these people are crazy!'
You glanced down at the forest floor and when your strength finally came back, you made your way down, finally to solid earth, you noticed bear prints.
Y/N: 'A bear... But why-'
RRRRA
You glance back and notice this creature. It seemed like a bear, but it had armor?

The bear charges for you. But as it jaws open hoping to bite down on you. You've spun and stepped to the side. The creature stands up on its hind legs as it uses its front paws to strike at you.
But you've rolled backward grabbing one of your rope darts hoping to subdue it.
Y/N: "Alright little one, there's no need for anyone to killed each other."
You spun the weapon and around, as the creature launches its self in your direction. You spun around again missing it and threw your dart, but it missed him entirely. However, that was the plan, you slowly danced around the large creature. When you were finally done you've tied the bear's paws and with a quick pull knocked it to the floor.
Y/N: "There we go... No need to kill you, if i don't have to."
As the creature growls at you. You hear a branch break behind and are slammed against a tree. As you turn around you spot two of the bears.
You bounced to your feet and stared the creatures down.
Y/N: "What are these things?"
As if on cue, your scroll receives a message.
Y/N: "Hello?"
Glynda: "What are you doing!"
You turn to the creatures, they were biting the ropes, hoping to break there alley out.
Y/N: "Um, looking after gods creatures."
You didn't know about these creatures, but still. You haven't gotten an explanation for them as a whole.
Glydna: "Are you aware what, HEY-"
The phone changes partners and you hear Ozpin now.
Ozpin: "Mr. L/N i hope you're not going easy on these creatures, just because they look animal-like?"
Another growl and you catch the Grimm finally released its friend from its bond.
Y/N: "These grimm, what are they?"
Ozpin: "Grimm are creatures that hold no soul, they do not wish to live among us humans, they show no kindness towards humans, they only show malice towards us. Always going for the kill. They are the darkness, so to speak."
You turned to the three creatures. As they slowly make their way towards.
Y/N: "So kill on sight."
Ozpin: "Yes, kill on sight."
You ended the call and with a quick shot of your grappling hook. Then land on a nearby branch.
The creatures growl while you stare them down.
Y/N: "But, you came to your friend's aid meaning."
You used Eagle vision catching sight of the creatures. You scan the area and spot three more Grimm, they were watching from a distance.
Y/N: 'You can use tactics... I can see now, why you're dangerous.'
Your left hand reached for the knife on your sheath.
Y/N: "Very well."
As the one creature leaped forward hoping to reach the branch, you fell on top of it with your blade digging through the top half of its skull.
As you hit the floor, you dive between the two and just like you planned your grenade went off. sending the Grimm flying. Killing both in an instant.
On cue, the three Grimm watching before decided to charge. You sprint towards heading for the one the middle as the creature tries to lock its jaws around you slide between its legs, but before you fire your pistol located in your hidden. The bullet went through its eye. As you bounce up to your feet the two remaining Grimm slowly start circling you.
You hand reaches for one of your throwing knives.
Y/N: "Come on."
You whistle and the creature to your back charges, you step around missing it by an inch. You blade travels it's fur as the creature passes, you spin around and throw your hidden blade into its neck.
The creature's neck starts to ooze this odd black liquid. The other charges and you decide to do something differently, you fire your grappling hook into one of its arms and jump up into a nearby tree. As you hang the creatures arm dangling above its head. Along with its neck. You throw your knife and its plunges into its attire, forcing it bleed out.
Cutting the cord you turn to the creatures.
Y/N: "I'm starting to understand why people stay away from this continent."
With that, you head for the relics.
[Third POV]
On the cliff, the two teachers were staring at there scrolls as they watch the fight as just took place.
Glynda was silent, her breath was taken away after she watched the battle. She was sure, she would have to come and save the boy. But what he did... In under a few seconds. Was... Terrifying.
Glynda; "He took out six Ursa in a few seconds. Not even that he tried to capture one of the Grimm. What? Who trained him Ozpin?"
Ozpin merely studied his scroll as he watched the young man take on a few wolf Grimm now.
Glynda: "Who was his mentor? And why did you want him to come to Beacon?"
Ozpin finally looks up from his screen.
Ozpin "His mentor i can not mention, but the young man is considered by his organization one of brightest and strongest fighters among them. Joining their ranks at the age of fourteen... while most join not at the age of twenty and above onwards, he has proven to beat multiple members on his own and proven to be one of the most capable members that they have produced since forty years ago and then some... He has been on countless missions and has done many things, even they consider... Impossible"
Glynda simply looks down at the screen of the young man fighting off a few beowolfs.
Glynda: "I had no idea."
She peers up looking at Ozpin, who was still watching her.
Glynda: "I'm sorry for forcing him to take the initiation. I was wrong... You had your reason's for bringing him in, I should've listened."
Ozpin nods and chuckles
Ozpin: "It's alright Glynda it was my fault too. After all, you don't bring a random stranger to Beacon for no reason."
As the two nodded looking better than ever, they turned to there scrolls watching the fight.
[Y/N's Pov]
For the past few minutes now, you've been watching, the temple a head.
You've been taking mental notes of all the creatures you fought thus far, and although you've won. It's better to be prepared than sorry. After all, in the past thirty minutes or so.
You've fought Grimm that look like werewolf 'looking Grimm. That's not even taking into account the giant two-headed snake. Or the giant scorpion.
You sighed and thought back to those fights.
The werewolf-like Grimm were easy to kill lacking any real armour. So it was simple. The two-headed snake. Well, you sacrificed a few bombs. But you killed it in the end, that's what counts. That left the scorpion and that one was difficult. The entire body was made of armor. You lucky enough to remember scorpions have a weak underbelly.
After those instances, you've learned something.
You are sadly lacking the supplies. Only a having a few of everything. If you're lucky you'll have something after the fight.
What irritates you the most is the darts you use don't seem to affect the creatures.
Y/N: 'Seems clear... But should probably be on guard.'
Quickly leaping out of the tree, you make your way across the open area. You spotted a few buildings something you could take cover under.
However, as you sprinted across the open field, a large shadow flew over. You spun around and caught the sight of a huge monster.

The creature squeal and spots you.
Y/N: 'Oh shit.'
Next thing you see the creature fires off around its feathers acting as throwing knives. You were fortunate to dodge most of them before they implanted themselves into the ground.
Y/N: "The feathers are larger than me... How big is this thing?"
The creature screams again and dives. However, you're not in the mood to fight it and throw your last smoke bomb down. As the field is littered with smoke. You run for a nearby building and watch the creature as it lands.
It looked back and forth, wondering where you have gone. Then takes to the sky.
You take a moment to catch your breath and think about this.
Y/N "That thing has got the advantage of the sky. He can spot me a mile away."
You turn back to the ruins.
It was located near the gorge. You spotted the cliffs and part of the building falling had already collapsed down below. The place was falling apart. If you weren't careful, your pretty sure it would fallen on top of you.
As you thought about the Grimm, your eyes wide and you chuckled under your breath.
Y/N: 'Holy shit... This might just work.'
You had a plan.
Now to set it into motion.
You instantly run over to the crumbling building making sure you didn't get detected by the Nevermore again. You'll need time to set this up. Quickly gigging through your rations of rope darts and grappling hooks. Any spare length of rope you had on hand, you slowly started to making this giant rope. Slowly tying it around the building. Then start placing any, if not all your bombs on to building walls.
When you're finally done, you catch sight of the Grimm flying above your head it was, it was still searching for you.
Y/N: 'Alright...' You place your grappling hook into your gauntlet.
Y/N: "Now to piss the creature off."
You whistled out for the creature and it turns its attention towards you.
With a quick prayer and your hand going for your dagger on your belt. You stared the creature down as it glides down into the gorge.
Then leap.
A few seconds pass and nothing happens then you land right on top of the Nevermore and dig your dagger into the Nevermore's back. He begins to scream and fly out of the valley, while also trying to bite you in the process, but you're too far on his back, for him to bite you... your finding it hard to hold on while the bird rises. Then all of a sudden you see you're above the valley, just passing the temple and place your gauntlet on the birds back and fire the grappling hooking into its back. It begins to scream again. Yet, it didn't stop the creature as it soon does death roll in the air. The force of the spin snaps your dagger at the hilt. Your falling off its back, the never more notices this and dives hoping to snatch you in the air.
For the next few seconds it was a matter of being faster than the Nevermore, you dived straight down into the valley, soon you pass the temple you press a button on your gauntlet and the temple blows up and starts to fall into the valley, the Nevermore tries to open it wings, but the rope held caught its wings and tied them down.
As you see the ground getting closer, you pull out the last parachute that Leonard made for you before you left. Just missing the nevermore and the temple's debris by only a few centimeters...
You landed on the valley floor...
You spot the Nevermore, he had both his wings crushed by the temple's stone, his beak was wrapped with the rope, he couldn't even scream.
As you walked over to the beast, staring into it's red. You knelt beside it, your left hand was calming the creature.
Y/N: "I'm sorry.... It was a good hunt, you may have even killed me. Given the chance."
The creature tries to open its mouth, but the rope held firm. Your left hand found his arteries. Then with a flick of your wrist, the blade punctured his neck. Killing him on the spot.
Y.N: "Sleep well, and may you hunt more pray in the next life."
The creature's eyes stared at you for a moment, then... Closed. The creature had leaned into you as it passed on, it was some form of embrace you have never felt before, especially with a creature like this.
As you stroke it's head full of feathers, saying one last goodbye. You take one of its black feathers.
Y/N: "Riposare in pace [Rest in peace]"
You turn to the valley and start to ascend back. Ready to finally finish this trial.
[Time skip by five minutes]
You kind of laughed you couldn't believe you walked past the temple, but you were standing right in front of it now, you had to be honest, you wanted to know what these artifacts were, considering you had to fight so many enemies to get here.... When you entered the destroyed temple, you noticed the artifacts and groaned.
Y/N: "Of course, he would choose chess pieces." You said to yourself with a sigh.... You start walking into the temple, standing dead center looking at all the artifacts calling out their names.
"The Knight"
"The Rook"
"The King"
"The Queen"
"The Bishop"
You move from your spot and walk up to the last piece looking at it very carefully.
Y/N: "The Pawn"
You begin looking around the temple again. All the chess pieces were here and there wasn't one color but two colors, black and white.... You begin to think.
Y/N:'What would be the point of leaving out all these chess pieces if only one person would be becoming to this temple.'
All of a sudden you had thought. You walk back to the center of the room and use your Eagle Vision.
To your surprise, nothing happened all these chess pieces were the same, there was nothing different about them.
Y/N: "No, I'm missing something here. I just don't know what?"
As you opened your eyes circling the room, you caught sight of something, a bright blue item appears underneath your foot. You move to the side and flick your wrist, your hidden blade pops out, you dig through the earth as the stone underneath your foot moments ago gives way. An item was wrapped in a cloth.
You unwrap the object to see a blue King piece from another chess set, it was as if it were made out of Topaz... You smiled
Y/N: "So this is what he wanted me to find."
[Third Person POV]
Glynda was speechless, while Ozpin merely started walking back to Beacon. Glynda turned around
Glynda: "When did you leave that their Ozpin?"
Ozpin merely kept walking while answering
Ozpin: "I left it there about thirty years ago... I had left that artifact there, for students that have unnatural talents."
He turns around to Glynda with a big smile.
Ozpin: "I was hoping someone would find it."
Ozpin begins to walk back to Beacon.
Ozpin: "Glynda can you be so kind and bring Mr. L/N to the school hall when he arrives back."
[Time skip brought to you by Glynda waiting for Y/N]
[Y/N Pov]
You had just entered the school grounds, it was about midday and to your surprise no one was outside you couldn't see anyone, it was as if Beacon had become a ghost town, but there in the distance stood Glynda all by herself waiting for you at the water fountain, she seemed a little uneasy so rushed to the spot.
Y/N: "Excuse me Miss Good Witch, where are the students..."
Glynda: "I'm afraid I don't know myself?" Looking around as well "But that does not matter now you and I will need to head to the hall, Professor Ozpin is waiting for us. "
You both quickly walk to the hall with nothing said between you two. You had just arrived outside of the hall you asked Glynda a question.
Y/N:"Is Ozpin not happy with my results."
she didn't answer... you took a deep breath and started again
Y/N: "Miss Good Witch, I would like to just say I'm very sorry about what happened earlier today... I should have listened to you and not done my own thing... So, I'm just trying to say sorry for my actions "
She turns to you and nods
Glynda: "It's alright everything has been forgiven and I hope from now on you will respect the school... Understood"
Y/N: "Yes ma'am."
You enter the hall and you see all the students standing in the hall all slightly confused and then you see Miss Good Witch point for you to go to the stand... When you reach the stand you then see Ozpin standing in front of the microphone...
Ozpin "Ladies, Gentlemen and students it has been roughly a month since our first years have arrived at Beacon and I had a feeling this year would be a memorable one... and I was right. As you all may or may not know. Beacon prides its self on finding unique individuals that have talent and nurses said individuals into becoming either Huntsmen or Huntressses.... but I digress... It is not often that we have students that arrive at Beacon after the entrance exams. However, I believe this individual has proven himself more than worthy to come to Beacon. Mr (Y/N) can you step forward for the students."
You step forward, your hood still covering your face. You stepped into the light and everyone looked at you a little confused, then Ozpin begins to speak again.
Ozpin: "Mr. L/N would you please hand me your artifact."
You pull out the blue chess piece and give it to Ozpin
Ozpin: "For all of those that did not know, for the last thirty years, I have hidden an artifact among the others, this artifact had a very simple purpose... It was for individuals that wished to be on a team of their own...."
Everyone gasped, all turning to you in astonishment.
Ozpin: "However"
Everyone turns back to Ozpin
Ozipin: "This will only be granted to an individual, who passes my exam and has been approved by me, only then could they form a single team... or be placed into a team of their choosing."
He points to a descending screen. Then it begins to play your entire initiation, from every single moment you were there... To every fight.
When the movie finally ended... you could hear some of the students murmur under their breath some were in awe, while others couldn't help but speculate. All you could do was stare at the students in amazement, you didn't think this would be such a large amount of chaos because of your initiation... when they started to hush Ozpin turned to you
Ozpin: "Mr (L/N), would you please remove your hood to show your face to the students of Beacon academy."
You remove you're hood and show your face.
