Chapter 4: Progress
Second Person P.O.V
"Cobra," you call from your normal place on the couch as your feet dangle off the side. Cobra ignores you as he leans against the wall and flips through a magazine. "Sorcerer Weekly? Really?"
"Yup," he shortly replies.
"What type of magic do you use?" your next question comes but he says nothing. "Snake boy, have I lost you again?"
Cobra growls and finally makes eye-contact with you, although his eyes are narrowed and screaming with annoyance. "Be quiet."
"Cubellios!" you shout. Moments later, the violet snake slithers inside the cave and straight to you. "Cobra's being mean to me."
Cubellios turns and hisses at Cobra to which he rolls his eyes at. "So childish."
"You're the ignorant asshat," you retort, resisting the urge to laugh. "Are you ever going to tell me why I'm here?"
"Nope."
"Do you get tired of babysitting me? You must have better things to do," you say.
"Not really." Cobra turns a page in the magazine.
"Well, then tell me something about yourself. I think I should get to know my kidnapper," you suggest.
"I'd like for you to shut up," he replies.
And I'd like for you to jump off a bridge, you say, momentarily opening up your mind to him.
For a split second, you detect amusement in Cobra's eyes and you nearly fall off the couch. A part of you would do it for dramatic effect, but your hands are chained together, so it wouldn't be safe. Cobra just as quickly morphs his expression back to a neutral face.
"It's not fair that you seem to know everything about me but I know nothing about you. I thought we were finally becoming friends," you say sarcastically.
"I don't need friends," Cobra insists as Cubellios makes herself at home on the floor of the cave.
"Don't buy in to his tough-guy act, (Y/N). He's actually quite shy," Angel claims, entering the cave and Cobra scoffs while going back to read his magazine.
"Yeah, I can see that." You smirk at the angered look that crosses Cobra's face, but otherwise, he doesn't say anything.
Suddenly, you feel the darkness hit your mind harder than it ever has before and you gasp before squeezing your eyes shut and letting out harsh breaths. A sharp pain taps the back of your head as if you've just been hit with a rock and you feel a tear slip from your eye.
"(Y/N), what's wrong?!" Angel asks frantically but you barely can register her voice through the screeching noises in your mind.
"What's happening?" Cobra's voice comes next and you can detect a hint of worry in his tone.
The darkness intensifies and you curl your toes and grit your teeth together to stop yourself from screaming in pain. Eventually, you feel the pain reach an unbearable peek and you immediately pass out.

"Damn," you mutter as you begin regaining consciousness with a pounding headache. You feel a cold, wet cloth touch your forehead and your eyes snap open to be greeted with the person you least expected to see.
Cobra.
"Where's Sorano?" you ask and Cobra stands up, leaving the cloth on your forehead.
"Brain needed her for something. What happened?" he asks, keeping his stern face plastered on but you can sense his blatant curiosity.
You reach a hand up to the cloth and you see your hands are no longer bound together. "I figured you would know."
"Angel and I tried to figure it out, but we came up empty handed. We thought you would know."
"It's basically this weird pain I get every once in a while, but it's never been this bad. Those magic-cancelling cuffs are probably messing up the flow of particles in my body," you say while staring at the ceiling.
"So you do know some of what the magic you hold is?" Cobra questions.
"I'm not sure what it is at all, just that it's annoying and unpredictable."
"I guess that sums it up," he mumbles.
"Why the hell do you know what it is and I don't?" you inquire irritatingly.
"Classified."
You groan and throw an arm over your eyes in exhaustion. You've been trying to be patient until you find out what they want, but your patience is running thin. You don't necessarily want to go back to your drab life, but you're getting fed up with staying in this cave.
You must admit, though, Cobra's behavior surprised you. He doesn't seem as hostile and agitated as when you first met him and he seems to actually... care? Maybe he only cares that you'll be okay to fulfill the Oracion Seis's needs, but, hey, at least it's something.
"Thanks, Cobra," you murmur, knowing he's still within hearing range. He does hear everything, after all.
You hear some shuffling but ignore it as you let your mind and body relax in to the sofa. A few minutes later, you hear feet running across the floor and the tapping of heels.
"(Y/N)," Angel says and you remove your arm and open your eyes to see her relieved face. "Cobra told me you were awake."
You look around to see him standing at the entrance of the cave with his back turned to the two of you. Your heart softens at the act of kindness he's just shown. Cobra left you alone, giving you the opportunity to get away but trusted you not to just so he could get the only person who could possibly make you feel better.
You're not that big of a douche after all, you think, watching as Cobra tenses.
You turn back to see Angel's tiny smirk but ignore it. "Are you okay? What happened?" she asks.
"Yeah, I think so," you reply, then go on to explain why it happened and Angel bites her lip to stop herself from telling you what she knows.
"Let's go to my room. You need a shower and change of clothes," she says, helping you get to your feet. Angel turns to Cobra. "Take a break. I got this."
Cobra easily agrees and Angel guides you farthur in to the cave where you haven't been, yet. It's dark at first before you see the light fixtures and enter the opening where there are eight doors lining the walls, four on each side.
Angel turns to the first door and gestures her head to the one across from it. "That's Cobra's room." You raise an eyebrow before nodding, not sure why she's telling you this information.
Angel grins before opening the door and leading you inside. You look around to see a simple bed, nightstand, closet, another door, and one light hanging from the ceiling. You close the door behind you as Angel goes over to her closet, picks out a pair of casual clothes, and hands them to you.
"Bathroom is right over there." She points to the door on the other side of the room and you wordlessly head in that direction.
You take a slow shower to unwind your muscles and let your headache fade away. You dry off and slip on the clothes that Angel gave you and you towel dry your hair as much as possible before going back in to her bedroom.
You notice Angel nowhere in sight and shrug it off as you scan her room again. You waltz over to the nightstand where you see a picture you hadn't before and gently pick up the frame.
"That's me and my sister Yukino. I kept that picture with me all throughout my time in the Tower of Heaven. It was the only thing that kept me going," Angel says, entering the room.
You look at the old and tattered photograph of two young, white-haired children laughing with their arms slung over each other's shoulders before setting it back onto the nightstand.
"You know, sometimes I forget that you're my kidnapper and not my friend," you say, turning toward her.
"I wish it could be different. I really do," she says miserably.
You close your eyes for a moment, then whisper, "So do I."
