Unfinished Games
If we had persevered perhaps,
Not leaving ourselves to guess,
At what, and if's, and possibilities,
We'd play that game of chess.
We gave up on the game of love,
That game of give and take,
A world of opportunity,
Of happiness did wait,
We could have moved our King and Queen
To rule upon the throne,
Instead I'm staring at the board
And playing chess alone.
