Okay so snow_n_stars asked how I do ombres and patterns on drawings without going outside the lines.

Imma show you how I do it!

First of all you have to get your drawing or base into the drawing app, I use IbisPaintX

Choose the selection layer

Once there choose the bucket tool and select the layer around the character

Click that thing, it basically reverses what you've selected. So now only the character is highlighted.

So now if you scribble everywhere-

Once you pick your finger or stylus up everything not selected will disappear

You can also do this by choosing just the wing or another part of the body that you want to seclude the pattern to

Color on it-

And once you pick your drawing tool up it disappears from everywhere but the wing!
