"Move faster!" Something pushed against my back, making me stumble a few steps.
Not wanting to anger my captors, I obeyed and walked faster.
I knew if I disobeyed he would have punished me in the most painful way possible. Because that's how he is. That's how they all are.
As I walked along the long bland corridor, with my hands cuffed, I let my eyes roam around and take things in.
There wasn't really much to see. It was just white walls, white tiles, white ceiling, white lights and metal doors, leading to small rooms, on both sides
The holding cells.
This is where they kept us the night before they experiment on us.
Right now they will lock us in one of these and tomorrow morning someone will let us out and take us to the lab.
Us being me and my five other fellow group memebers.
Yes, we have our own groups.
There are hundreds of us teenagers and children in this facility and we are all divided up in groups of five to six. Each group member has their own unique qualities. Although when the groups are made, they look for a common quality, other than the one that distinguishes them from others. Ours is that we all can fight.
Anyway, our group consists of me- the brain, Zen- the speed, Britt- the brawn, Carly- the technology master, Jaxon- the ninja, assassin type something and Rosalina- the mind controller.
We are diverse and that's what I love about our group.
"Ouch! It hurts." A soft voice whined behind me. I looked around and realised I was so lost in my thoughts, I didn't realise we were finally where we wanted to be.
Now the game begins.
As everyone turned around to see Rosa falling in one of the guard's arms for some reason, I moved towards the far corner and brought the replica key out of my mouth.
I managed to make one after memorising the key design. I already had the stuff saved up thanks to a friend.
While Rosa tried to convince the two guards to take us in the computer room because she might have sprained her ankle and maybe 'to have some fun', I managed to unlock my cuffs but did not remove them.
I looked up at the comotion again and found Rosa winking at me as she dragged a guard behind her with his hand. The rest of us followed.
Now you see, these people are really cruel and they really really need us to test their cruelty on. So for our sanity they let the groups hang out once a week.
Hanging out meaning letting everyone stand in a hall without food or anything and letting them talk for half an hour.
I don't know about others but we certainly did not spend our time talking or catching up. No, we utilised our time by plotting and planning for an escape.
This has been going on since past four months. Four months that I spent observing this hellhole for an escape. Four months for me to learn the night shifts of every single guard in the premises.
I figured out that every month most of the guards get a holiday on first sunday of the week. I then realised that the least security, at any place in our way on sunday, was in and outside the computer room. Plus, this was the only place with an escape route.
So here we are now. In the computer room on first Sunday of the month.
First there were ten long rows of desks filled with eleven computers on each. We were at the back, in the middle of ninth and tenth row, by second last computers. Our target was the main computer far ahead in front of the room. Then there were a total of seven guards in here, including the two that brought us here.
Seven of them, armed but normal. Six of us, unarmed but extraordinary.
We could do this.
As soon as the door shut behind us, I swung my handcuffs at the nearest guard, who so happened to be the one eating Rosa's face.
"Oh thank God! This jerk was disgusting." She muttered while whiping her mouth off.
The said jerk clutched his head and groaned. Just as he turned around, I hit him with my cuffs again in his face. I then kicked him in his stomach and when he bent down clutching it, I grabbed his head with both hands and slammed my knee in his face. He fell down on his knees which I took to my advantage by knocking him out with a kick to his head.
Behind me I could see Rosa fighting off the other guard. We two were the first ones to get ourselves uncuffed. Me because I had the key and Rosa because... because this girl really does get what she wants.
Now we needed to get Carly to the main computer. Shouldn't be much of a problem because Britt broke hers and everyone else's handcuffs. Yes, she's that strong. And while she fought off two burly looking guards, Zen ran around another one, hitting him whenever he could.
But where the hell was Jaxon when we needed him? Oh yeah, the idiot was busy finding a gun instead of actually using his fists.
Rolling my eyes at him, I took out the gun from the holster, that the guy I knocked out was wearing.
"Hey Jaxon! Catch!" I threw the gun at him which he caught easily because of his ninja reflexes shit.
After that all the guards were pretty much dead since Jax shot them all with his perfect aim.
Path was cleared but not for long. Before Jax shot them all, one of them called for backup which would arrive in five minutes.
Five minutes is all we have. Five minutes is all we get, to decide whether to escape or to die.
"Carly! Five minutes! Lock the doors first then do as planned. Hurry!" I stressed out to her while blocking the door with tables and chairs until I finally heard the lock click.
Now comes the guns.
All of ICE facilities have installed huge machine guns on top of their main entrance metallic doors and the stone walls surrounding the building.
The guns can be both hand and machine operated. These cowards had their guns connected to the machines so that they can fight while still staying safe inside the building.
Well the joke's on them cause these guns will not save them anymore. In fact, the guns are what they will need saving from.
We were on the seventh floor of the building and there was a pool right below the window.
You can guess our next move. We really had it all planned out.
Jax, Zen, Britt, Rosa and I all stood waiting and watching Carly change the directions of the two guns on main entrance so that they point at each other.
The rest of the guns, instead of pointing outside, turned inside.
It was funny how confused the guards look.
My amusement did not last long though because then it happened.
Boom!
The two guns on the door, firing at each other, exploded on the spot, bringing the door and the surrounding guards down.
Well now we don't have to worry about methods of unlocking these doors.
The other guns on the walls started firing at their own guards. We let that happen until there weren't many left and until we heard someone trying to break the door to the computer room.
Well that's our cue to leave.
I nodded at Carly who let go of the guns and unlocked the windows with a single button.
After that we all rushed towards the windows.
"Okay guys, it's now or never. We have seen people do this in movies. We can do it too. Hopefully. We can jump out of this window, fall in the pool and not die. We're extraordinary. We can do this. Come on!" I gave the shitty pep talk more to myself then them.
After all they were not the ones afraid of heights. I was.
"On the count of three. One!" Rosa announced.
I could hear the men shouting and metal smashing against metal, behind the door.
"Two!" Jax continued.
The metal clanging got louder and the hinges broke loose.
"Three." I whispered and we all jumped just as the door burst open and men came rushing in.
Shit. Shit I am gonna die. This was a bad idea. Fuck!
For a moment I was falling with my heart in my throat. It was beating so fast that I thought it would burst.
But then my body smacked against something. Real hard. And then I was drowning.
The force of the hit hurt a lot. It made it difficult for me to swim with an aching body but somehow I managed to push myself up until I broke the surface.
The others were already out. Jax was helping out Rosa, who can't swim. Zen and Carly seemed to be dragging themselves away from the pool while Britt came out two seconds after I did. She was the only one who did not seem hurt from the impact.
There were sounds of people running and gunshots firing behind us. They were not close enough to make a proper aim but they were definitely catching up.
Jax helped me out next and then we all grabbed a gun from the dead guards who were killed when we opened fire.
With precise aim Jax and I shot anyone who came in our way while we all ran. The others tried their best to shoot as many as they could too. Although we have to give Jax some credit for being the best.
Zen ran ahead before everyone else, towards the parking lot, to get something to drive away from this hellhole.
While the rest of us were running just to get away from the guards until Zen comes back.
We all ran as fast as physically possible for each of us and saw the doors getting closer.
Just a little more.
We are nearly there.
And just a few more steps...
Bang!
A gunshot sounded, followed by a thumping body and some groans.
I turned around to find Carly on the ground with a bullet in her leg.
Behind her a whole army of guards followed.
"I'll bring her." Britt grumbled after picking her up. We let Britt run ahead while Rosa, Jax and I slowed down a bit to give the two girls some cover.
Picking up the bulletproof glass shields lying on the ground belonging to already dead guards, we actually did manage to create some kind of cover.
It was not enough though. It would not hold them back for long. And Zen still was not in sight.
We passed through the door onto the empty street, desperately looking around for Zen.
The guards were closing in on us and were continuously firing, which started damaging the shields at one point.
Come on Zen! Where the hell are you!?
The glass of my shield, although supposed to be bulletproof, could not last a full storm of a thousand bullets and started breaking.
"Hey you! Stop right there!" The first guard came running out of the door and stood in front of us. The others stopped firing at his signal. "You have nowhere to go now, so I suggest you drop your weapons."
I was actually going to comply since we really could not get away from this now but before I could, an ICE Workers van came rushing towards us and hit the guard, making him fly and fall back a little distance away.
"Or how about you drop dead." Jax questioned the unconscious body, rhetorically.
The guards again started running towards us so we all loaded up in the van in an inhuman speed and just as the first few bullets hit the back of the van, Zen started driving. And he drove like a madman.
I don't know how fast we were going but I knew it was faster than a normal car because these vans were made like that for on time deliveries.
And I also knew that the guards will not bother following us because I gave Zen a few time-bombs, that I got my hands on thanks to an old friend, and asked him to plant them in the parking lot with a five minute timer.
Now as I heard some distant explosions, I knew they wouldn't have any vehicles to follow us in.
"Holy shit! We escaped! We actually managed to escape! We managed to escape with the shittiest plan in the world!" Rosa exclaimed in disbelief.
While Jax and Britt shared her enthusiasm, I heard Carly speak lowly to Zen.
"Where the hell were you?" She hissed at him from the passenger seat. She looked dizzy to me. Must be losing her blood.
"I had something to take care of bu- Oh shit!" He exclaimed suddenly when he turned to Carly and saw the bullet wound. "What the fuck happened to you!?" He whisper-yelled at her, not wanting to disturb others from getting happy.
"Well I obviously got shot." She replied tiredly.
"Shit. Shit. Shit. Don't worry, Carly. You'll be okay. Did you tie something to stop the blood? Oh good you did. Don't worry girl, I will get us there in time. I won't let anything happen to you. I promise!" Zen panicked while driving even faster if that was possible.
Carly just gave him a small smile before almost falling asleep. Of course Zen didn't let that happen and kept talking to her as long as he could. And I decided not to eavesdrop and turned towards the window.
As I saw the trees and houses passing by in a blur, I realised this is the first time I am seeing all this again after ten years. I also realised how lucky we were today to escape that place alive with a plan so amateur that it almost got us killed so many times. Rosa was right, it really was a shitty plan. And we needed to work on that.
Luck did it's thing today. It got us through. And I hope it stays this way because I plan to do a lot more than this.
If they think they got rid of me just like that then they are mistaken.
I will go back for them. And when I do I won't be weak like I was today.
Oh no, I am gonna be so strong that they will regret enhancing my abilities and every other thing they did.
