Chapter 3
Ah the computer room. Brings back old memories.
Kicking away the grill, Jax jumped down before raising up his hands to help me.
Ignoring his help, I jumped out, landing perfectly beside him.
He just raised an eyebrow but did not say anything about it.
There was no one in here since Carly locked down this room right after everyone stepped out for a break.
This time they would not be able to break the doors either because last time when they saw how easily this door was broken, they decided to install stronger ones.
Ha! Jokes on you bitches. You plant unbreakable doors but still don't change your computer system's security. How intelligent.
"Come on, we don't have much time. They might know their way around the vents. We need to be fast." Jax said worriedly, while moving forward towards the main computer.
"Loosen up Jax. The staff did not install these vents, the vents were already here when they joined. And I am pretty sure they never had the need to use them either. So trust me when I say these dumbfucks are not like you and will take forever to find their way through. That is after they find a way to get pass through the grills." I rambled on to calm him down.
"You wasted two minutes of your life telling me something I did not need to know. Two minutes you could have used to do what we came here to do." He informed me in an emotionless voice.
Rolling my eyes at him, I went forward and thrusted my hand out expectantly.
For a second he look confused but then he remembered what I am asking for and pulled out the usb from his pocket, handing it over to me.
I plugged the usb in the main computer before opening the usb folders and activating the virus Carly had installed in it.
This was an important thing to do because although we planned on bringing down this building, it still did not mean that we stopped them.
The main problem was their data. Every facility had its own data, containing sets of equations on how to make their chemicals and drugs, what to do with it, on whom to use, how to use and other stuff like that. They had so many experiments to perform that they made sure no facility receives any similar data.
We could not just leave all that.
Because if we did then they will just buy another building, hire other workers, kidnap more children and pass on the data, continuing their work.
The only problem was that the data was directly protected by the main ICE base. And although this facility might be shitty because it's the fifth one, but their base was a totally different story.
Carly might be a great hacker but she is still too young. The girl has a lot more to learn before she can break into a government owned and controlled computer which is protected by advanced security from international professionals.
That is why we have to go down in every facility ourself and install the viruses that destroys everything on the computer.
Hence, why Jax and I are here, risking our lives for this shit.
Just a few more seconds.
Just a little more.
Two more... aaand... done!
Jax pulled out the usb and kept it back in his pocket, while I waved my hands at the camera in the corner of the room.
With a click the windows opened automatically.
Thank God for Carly.
Standing at the edge of the window I felt a sense of deja vu wash over me.
I have done this before. And I am doing it again. Only this time I will not drown but instead I am going to fly.
I was not even half out of the window and I could already feel my heart running a marathon.
Jax must have seen the nervous expression on my face because he wrapped an arm around me and pulled me in a side hug. This turned out to be a wrong move because my short self ended up in his armpit.
I pushed him away with my nose scrunched up, while he just laughed at me.
"I am sorry, Shortcake. This went wrong." He chuckled a bit more then sobered up. "Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that it's okay, Allie. You will be okay. You can do this. We can do this. We practiced, remember? And what got you through it every time we practiced? Your courage and determination! Now get yourself together and nail this shit. Show them who they messed with." Jax tried to encourage me, which definitely worked.
Nodding my head in determination, I tied the straps on the edges of my cloak to my wrists.
While I did this, Jax covered my torso with a bulletproof vest and tied bulletproof pads on my arms and legs.
I swear the amount of time I spent making this shit was more than the amount of time I spent practicing flying.
When everything was in place, I stepped back until I was farthest away from the window.
"You ready?" He asked.
I just nodded in return.
"Okay, remember you distract them and I will hide. When the guards are in here I will step out and Carly will lock them in. After that we will meet you outside."
I knew Jax would be able to slip out without getting noticed and I also knew that he will manage to help Rosa and Britt get the kids out of here unnoticed too.
Nodding my head again, I took a deep breath to calm down my racing heart. Then I put on my smart glasses and tied them at the back of my head with ribbons so they don't fall off. When I go up too high to see properly, these will give me an architectural structure of the buildings and show the faculty members as red dots. My friends would be green dots and any other random person would be a blue dot. They will also protect my eyes from the wind.
After that came the last part of my gear. The ear piece. So that everyone can talk to me.
I closed my eyes, took a deep breath while reminding myself of the times I practiced.
I can do this.
I can do this. No, I will do this. For him. For them.
Opening my eyes, I took deep breath and then broke into a small sprint.
Then I lept through the window.
Once again for a moment I thought I was going to die.
I was not flying. I was falling! I closed my eyes in fear.
But then I heard something. Something like a soft whisper.
I heard Rosa whispering in my ear piece, "Bitch you can do this. You are a Phoenix after all."
Somehow her words opened up my eyes. I thrust my arms out, spreading them like a bird's wings.
The fire red inside of my cloak fluttered loosely with the wind looking like a certain fire bird's wings.
Then the cloak straightened out and stiffened.
And suddenly I was flying moments before I could hit the concrete.
I went over the pool real fast causing huge waves to form and just as the pool ended, I was flying upwards.
A whirlwind of emotions rushed through me. From disbelief, to fright, then nervousness which finally turned into excitement.
"There you go. See? I told you!" She talked to me through my earphone again. Looking around I tried to find her but was interrupted by something.
"Hey look! Is that a Phoenix!?" Someone shouted below me as I circled the pool area. I was reaching about somewhere between sixth and seventh floor.
"Oh no, no, no, no! It can't be. It's not an actual Phoenix, it's the Phoenix!" Someone else screamed.
"Holy shit, she is flying! The witch is flying! Like Batman!"
Batman? Really? Out of all the cool characters he just had to choose a traumatised, halloween costume wearing guy who has a sore throat.
A crowd of guards gathered below me. I could see the whole staff watching me from the windows as well. Disbelief clearly written on their faces.
"Alice? They will try to shoot you now so snap out of it and do something." Carly scolded me through my ear piece.
Muttering an 'aye, aye captain' I further flew upwards until I reached the top tenth floor of the building. Then I tried to fly in a changing pattern so that it will be harder for them to shoot me down.
"Carly, turn on the glasses now. I cannot see much from here." I asked, to which she instantly answered by turning them on.
I roamed my eyes around the whole outside area until I found my first green mark. It seemed to be hiding beside the small space between the building's left side and the outer wall. Then another dot appeared beside him. And another and another and more until there were about like a hundred something people there.
They can't hide for long. Even if everyone has their attention on me someone still might find them. They are packed there, almost falling out.
Turning my ear piece on I connected to Zen.
"Zen, it's your turn now. Put the bomb in place and do as you were told."
"Yes, ma'am." He muttered back.
After that I waited a few minutes. And then there was a blast. In the parking lot. Again.
I almost laughed at everything that has happened all over again.
Asking Carly to turn my glasses off, I went down a bit to see everything.
Everyone turned around to see the whole parking lot on fire and a small kid standing outside it with a ski mask and all leather.
"Ha. Ha! I got you again suckers!" Zen laughed which angered the guards. They all pointed their guns at him to shoot but he started running around. He was too fast for them to catch.
Flying over to the other side I saw Jax peeking out from beside the building. The path was still not totally cleared.
"Zen, move to the next part of the plan." I had to tell him.
He just looked up and nodded then signalled Jax to come over.
The guards were all turned away from where Jax was hiding so it was easy for Jax to attack them from behind.
To help him I went down a bit until I could kick some of the assholes. I mean I can't use my hands but my legs are free.
I kicked one guard on the back of his head. He turned around and his eyes eyes widened when he saw me.
"Hey! She's here! She's down here!" He shouted while loading his gun.
I kicked it out of his hand and flew up.
Great now everyone's attention was on me and Jax. No one noticed Zen running around them in a circle while drenching the whole ground with petrol.
"I will kill you, you psycho witch!" The man I kicked shouted below.
"Really? We will see about that when you are dead." I shouted back.
For a moment he looked confused then he realised I was up to something. But he realised to late because then I flew back, Jax ran away and Zen threw a lighter on the ground.
A huge circle of fire formed around the guards, trapping them in.
When this happened, Rosa and Britt, along with a hundred something kids, came rushing out heading towards the gate.
The guards tried to shoot them but I went over and turned my back on them with my cloak spread out to block the bullets. Jax, Zen and Rosa joined me with bulletproof shields.
Britt, on the other hand, smashed everyone and everything that came in their way to get the children outside in the five buses Zen brought over while we were in the building.
After everyone was loaded up, all of my friends ran outside to drive them away.
Before I could follow them I heard a static voice in my ear piece which turned into Jax's voice calling me out.
"Now listen to me Allie. You cannot come with us. They know we escaped but you are still there. You are still our distraction. Just stay there for a minute or two until we are out. Then you fly behind Skyton and enter the open window you find on some higher floor. Stay there until you hear things go down. Then you can come back home to us." He explained the change of plans to me.
"Oh and this place blows up in next two minutes so you better fly away fast. We want you alive, birdie. You better not die." Carly spoke out of nowhere.
"Don't call me that." I muttered back but obeyed what she said and tried to fly over to Skyton as fast as I could.
Upon reaching the building, I did find an open window on fifteenth floor.
Huh? Carly couldn't have opened it. And if she didn't then who did? How did Carly even know about it?
Wanting to overcome my curiosity, I asked Carly about it. But all I got from her was that it was already open when we came here. She had given Zen a camera to record our surrondings and send the tape to her. According to her, the opening was there in the camera. Someone must have forgotten to close it.
Not dwelling on it much longer, I entered an office like room through that window. After that I waited for half a minute. I waited until I heard it. I heard the blasts, all thanks to Zen.
The bombs were planted in the lower floors because time was less and we had to bring everything down. This was the only way. If there is no base supporting the building then it goes down.
And I made sure those asshole went along with it.
Now I know killing people is wrong but these were not just any people they were psychotic torturers who would have moved on to torturing other people if set free. Plus they deserve it after everything they did.
Convincing myself that these bastards had it coming, I leapt through the window, flying through the city, leaving the crumbling building behind.
Although just before I left I saw someone in the room right beside mine in Skyton.
He did nothing. Just watched me. Because I know that he's observing and planning for now so he will just watch me. And when he's ready then he will attack. He does things like me.
I know he will be coming after me but I will be ready.
I will be ready when you come, Luciano.
