Chapter Six
Coach Blue Whistle looked at his clip board. "Abby Abernathy." It would suck to be that kid. Bet she's always first.
A small fare-skinned blondy steps up front. She doesn't look a bit nervous. She stands still for a moment and then- she's not there.
Of course. Invisibility.
Oh, right. Your probably wondering what in the world was happening. So basically, whenever a super enrolls in a middle school they haven't been to before, we have to be tested for our 'special' abilities. For whatever reason it's only middle school, not high school or elementary or anything.
Coach calls up the next person, and the next.
Super speed, laser eyes, shape-shifting, the usual.
"Raymond Brown."
I looked up as my best friend walked up to center-stage.
He was prepared of course. There were some 300 pound weights near by and Ray picked them up with ease.
Some were surprised, Ray didn't look all that stronger then most 7th grade boys, and he was also pretty short (about 5'3" or 5'4") and a little bit on the skinny side. Though there he was, holding four 300 pound weights. Then, he started juggling.
Yes, you read that right. Ray was juggling the weights. Why? I don't know, trying to add a little clown twist on his 'performance,' I guess.
When students started laughing, Coach seemed to get a bit annoyed because he told him to stop immediately, and Ray did.
"So I'm guessing your ability is super strength?" Coach asked writing something down on his clipboard.
"Well yeah," Ray responded, a joking look in his eyes, "and fabulous hand-eye coordination." People laughed again while I rolled my eyes. Classic Ray, always trying to please others.
Ray is friends with, like, everyone, because his charm and friendliness. Mean or shy, rich or poor, Ray's your bud. Which kind of makes it weird actually, now that I had thought about, that Ray and I have been really close, since kindergarten. Ray may have many friends, but not many of them he is all that close with.
At lunch time, Ray never really sits down permanently, he just walks around table to table being happy with everyone. I have absolutely no idea how he does it.
And then there's me. The one person who doesn't reach out for Ray; doesn't wait for Ray; doesn't always be the best I can when I'm around Ray. In fact, I'm not all that friendly to him all the time. Unlike others. But I'm the one he reaches out for, I'm the one he waits for, I'm the one he's his true self for.
But, for what?

It's my spring break so I thought I'd give you an extra update to celebrate! Again, I'm not the best editor for my own stories so if you see any grammatical/spelling errors please inform me. Thanks for everything!
