Chapter 8: The Plan

Let's time skip to about one year later since I've been training to find my special power and the others gather stealth forces to sneak into the land of darkness and save me. They failed once, so they're trying hard to succeed the next time. I hope they take their time because I'm close to gaining my power! Exciting huh?

Vincent fell back on his bed. Cassidy looked down at him, her arms crossed. "You okay?" she asked.
"Yeah," he replied with his eyes now closed. Csikos...where are you? I'm already seven now and you're still not back...I've already gotten some control over my magic orbs. he thought. Have you discovered your power yet? That is if he isn't keeping you cooped up in a cell or something.
Cassidy sat on the bed beside him.  She had started training to master a bow made by Perna the fire phoenix. The bow had a bit of her red aura emitting from it. Fire arrows are summoned to fire with while they explode into bits of fire around the area it hits. Vincent looked at her with his ice blue eyes and tight frown. "Let's give Alyvia a little visit to veer our thoughts from Csikos for a bit, okay? It's not good for the mind to form a rescue plan while worrying a lot," he finally spoke. Cassidy sighed and nodded in agreement. They went to Cassidy's Dad and had him walk them over to her home.
When they got to their doorstep, Luer rang the doorbell. Her father, Verdehile, answered. "Yes? What are you doing here, Luer?" he grumbled, noticing Vincent and Cassidy peeked from either side of him.
"What's wrong with a little visit, my dear friend?" Luer joked. Verdehile huffed and showed them inside. Wendy and Alyvia were playing a board game with Rica, Alyvia's mother, watching them with interest. Kai was also there to Vincent's surprise. Usually he never comes over here.
Cassidy sat down beside Wendy and cheered her on softly. While they were playing, Vincent decided to go over to Kai, who was reading a book silently at the dining room table, and sit in a chair next to him.
"What's up?" he tried to say, only to be silenced by Kai's glare. Kai then went back to reading his book silently.
"You know, the only reason we can't penetrate their defenses is because there's too many trying at once," he said suddenly after a long few moments of silence. Vincent cocked his head at him, now curious at what he has to say. "I made a new invention. It's a camera that's the size of a sphere- at the moment. It shapeshifts to fit into certain places and such," Kai continued, not pulling his eyes away from his book. "I've made a remote to control it therefore I won't have to follow it."
Vincent now had his full attention toward his recently-made friend. A controlled camera? Dang, he really is a genius...he pondered on the thought. "So..." he started concluding. "What you're saying is, we can figure out where Csikos is with that camera of yours by...ourselves?" Vincent finished with a surprised look on his face as he stared at Kai. Kai's nod confirmed Vincent's statement. "But...but we're only children...and that's an adults' work-"
"And you think they'll be able to do a thing when they're trying to bombard the place? I don't think so," Kai growled. Vincent sighed, realizing Kai is right.
"Well, even if we do manage to get Csikos back, what are we going to tell everyone? It's kind of suspicious having a couple of kids having the kidnapped child with them when he's been missing for what? A year," he replied, frustration growing inside him. Kai was silent after he finished. Vincent could tell he was thinking. I wonder what his plans are...Vincent thought. It really would be suspicious to bring Csikos through the portal and back home. So of course, it'd be way too dangerous.
Kai finally stood up and walked away toward the living room. "We'll speak of this later," he called back before vanishing from sight. Vincent sighed and looked back at the book Kai had left on the table. It read, "Monsters and their Powers." Vincent thought for a moment before picking it up and flipping through the pages ever so gently. He stopped when it landed on a certain monster. The dark archangel.
"Fermion..." Vincent read aloud quietly, barely a whisper. He saw the page marked up with circles and underlining everywhere. He read some of the markings which explained how to counter the certain attacks and side-effects. "So his attack power is increased by 50% either way huh?" he mumbled to himself. Closing the book, Vincent took a deep breath, then sat the book back in its original place. He got up and walking silently into the living room, where Wendy and Alyvia were now playing with cards, Solitaire it looked like.
Wendy placed a card down and abruptly pointed to Alyvia. "Hah! I win once again!" she declared triumphantly. Alyvia merely grumbled and scratched her head.
"You're known to excel at these games, so it's no wonder you won this time," she groaned.
"Hehe, you're funny!" Wendy giggled. "Huh?" She turned her head to look at Luer who got up and walked over to Vincent.
"You alright?" he asked after placing his hand gently on the child's shoulder.
"Yeah," Vincent replied, half-lost in thought. Luer sighed and closed his eyes to think for a moment. He opened them after a few moments and got in front of Vincent and crouched down so he was eyelevel with the boy.
"Look," he began. "I know you're still upset about Csikos being gone, but you have to be strong and stand your ground. And another thing..." he stood up again and placed his hand underneath the back of Vincent's neck as he gazed up at the phantom thief. "Let's go outside to talk. I have something important to tell you that I don't want anyone else knowing, okay?" Vincent nodded before he was led out the front door. They both sat on the front porch with Vincent propped up against one of the two wooden posts that held up the roof. Luer was positioned so that he was facing him and had a soft but intent expression on his face.
"So what do you want to tell me?" Vincent began before the water monster could speak. Luer merely shook his head, eyes closed. Then he opened them again and stared at Vincent before replying.
"I know what you and Kai plan on doing. I overheard everything," he said, his voice being surprisingly calm. Vincent's eyes widened at that. Luer smiled gently and added, "and I grant you permission. Under my supervision of course, but we have to keep this thing secret, okay?" Vincent nodded, his eyes starting to produce some tears, though very slightly. He rubbed his eyes vigorously. Luer sighed once more and hugged him tightly. "Don't worry," he whispered. "We'll pull through. I promise." Vincent started crying into his shoulder, eventually falling asleep in his arms.
