Chapter 14
The most beautiful thing about life is that, sometimes it just fucks you up when you don't need it to.
I sat still in a chair, staring at Lucca but not really looking at him. This all felt so surreal and fantasy-like, something a woman as rational as me would never have believed. But that itself was the most unexpected and scariest part, I believed him. Each and every word of the impossible situation he threw at me, I believed him.
Not because of some voodoo magic that had me instantly falling in love with him, hell no.
But because I did remember that night.
I remember waking up the next morning with the most horrible hangover; I remember deciding not to go into work as I tried recalling anything that had happened the previous night. The only thing that I did manage to recall was the weird dream that my drunken mind had managed to conjure up- me dancing and talking away my sorrows with a sexy as sin stranger in a black mask.
And now I realize that it was in fact not some bizarre dream but a reality. A reality that was more unsettling than dreaming about a stranger, the very same stranger who was right now sitting right in front of me, looking at me with trepidation.
Once I had come to terms with the fact that that dream was in fact not a dream but reality, I finally regained the ability to speak.
"Why...why didn't Chris say anything about this to me? Not even once." I asked finding myself to be quiet surprised. And a little vexed too, to be honest.
"Because I told him not to, tesoro. When we met I had barely been the Godfather for a little over a month. In my world, people tend to challenge the new godfather, hoping to kill him in the process and usurp the title for themselves. And you being anywhere near me in that...volatile time period wouldn't have ended well. For you. So I told him to keep his mouth shut." He said leaning back in his chair.
The man looked positively exhausted and drained, well too bad; I had a load of questions to ask.
"If it was so bad me for me to be seen with you then, is it safer now? Or is it just a matter of convenience to you now?"I asked, getting angrier by the minute.
"No, it is not about my comfort, tesoro. It's still dangerous for you to be seen with me." he gritted out, this was the first time I saw him directing is anger at me. I was surprisingly a bit intimidated.
"Then why show yourself to me now?" I asked, hoping that my voice didn't sound weak.
"First, I can protect you properly now, no one in my world would consider harming what is mine and secondly, two days before we met at the firm in Christopher's office, Renaldo, my third in command called me. He had news, Alexei; the Russian Mafia leader was murdered in cold blood.
Normally I wouldn't give two fucks about his death, because honestly that guy was a textbook prude and a total buzz kill, very uptight and all business. But one good thing about him was that he was not crazy, well not as crazy as his brother Ivan who has taken over the Russian Mafia now. He is the one who murdered Alexei. And he is the one who wants you." He completed looking at me straight in the eye.
"Why the fuck does he want me? How do you know that he wants me?" I asked more pissed than scared.
"To answer your second question, I had my men infiltrate Alexei's business, to keep an eye on his crazy brother. Danny was on one of the details and saw Ivan's plan to kidnap you and freaked out. When I saw your picture I knew I had to show myself, because I'll be damned if he even touched you." His calm and collected voice turned to hiss by the end of the sentence.
"And as for your first question, I was hoping you would enlighten me." he said looking at me expectantly.
He reached for his drawer and pulled out yet another picture. I was still reeling from the shock that the first picture had brought. Could I handle more before I finally broke?
He slid the picture across the table towards me.
It was the picture of a man. He had black hair that was slicked back; he wore a sweatshirt with skinny jeans. He looked dangerous and dapper with a sharp jawline and rosy plump lips. And if you saw closely, you could see that the brown irises held deep danger and the smile curving his lips was pure sinister.
"That's Alexei. I don't have a picture of Ivan on me, but he looks almost the same, just a little shorted and way blonder." Lucca clarified.
"Never seen him." I said giving the picture another once over. He nodded, sliding the picture back in the drawer.
It was silent for a while before I decided to break it.
"That still doesn't explain your sick infatuation with keeping me hostage." I said, my voice as emotionless and hard as it could get.
"I don't think you understand this Violet," He started to say as he got up from his chair and walked towards me.
But I didn't register any of these movements as my mind was just fixated on the fact that he called me by my name, for the first time. It was like my brain refused to function and only concentrate on the fact that just how ridiculously delicious my name sounded on his lips.
"You had me...intrigued since the first moment I laid my eyes on you. And slowly, over time this intrigue has developed into an obsession. An obsession I don't intend on letting go anytime soon.
You are mine. I don't care if I sound like one of those cheesy romance novels, but it's true. You are mine and there is nothing you can do about it."
By the end of his baffling monologue he was right in front of me squatting down so he was eye level with me. I didn't dare move, as I stared at those fixating green irises.
In my head I was throwing all the profanities I knew at him just because he assumed that I would agree to be his. I wanted to verbally abuse him for assuming such ludicrous things but my tongue won't cooperate. My mouth felt dry as I felt my tongue dart out to lick my lips. His eyes darted towards my lips as I saw his irises darken.
"And there is one thing you need to know about me," he whispered, his voice low and husky, his lips inches from mine as he stared deep into my eyes.
"I always protect what's mine." With that he closed the space between us. Cupping the back of my neck he pulled me in for a searing hot kiss.
It scares me how you are destroying the part of my soul that used to be uncaring and hard to love, the random thought added on to the shock of the kiss.
And I couldn't help but kiss back. My hands had a mind of their own as they snaked around his broad shoulders to his hair gripping them tightly and pulling him in even more. My lips moved fervently against his and would've continued to move had the door not opened with a huge bang.
***
"Where the hell have you been?" I looked at the person in front of me with an irritated expression.
"Duty calls, got a lead on a big drug cartel deal, had to check it out." Lia said looking around the room I had been living at Lucca's mansion.
Turns out Lucca had Christopher call Lia for me.
For moral support.
The whole flashback episode was well planned and to make sure I don't freak out in the worst possible way, Lucca thought it would be best if I had Lia near me.
What a pussy.
He says he called Lia for my moral support, I say he didn't want to deal with the gasket he thought I would have blown.
But the thing with Lia was that she didn't have a clue why she was here, so sooner or later I would have to have the honor of explaining her just why and I was dreading that.
"And?" I asked stalling a bit more.
She turned to me with a smirk, she knew I was stalling.
"The lead I got back in Chicago lead me back here, turns out that Chicago is their place for meeting and deciding, not dealing. Can't do much about it when you can't see the actual drugs, can you? Plus they usually talk in code, so no point recording their conversations as evidence." She said with a shrug.
"But enough of that, now it's my turn to ask questions." She said flopping herself down on my bed, making herself at home.
I sighed taking a seat down on the comfortable sofa chair and waiting for the dreadful Spanish Inquisition that was about to follow. She took this as a sign to continue.
"How is it that every time I walk in a room with you two in it, you are always sucking faces?" she asked sounding genuinely curious.
"Honestly? I am asking myself the same fucking question right now." I said sighing in exasperation and finding myself getting comfortable on a nearby sofa.
She raised an eyebrow at me.
"What I am trying to say is that, Lucca is not dating material and no one in their right mind would consider him to be a one night stand material too. I mean, look at him!" I said throwing my hands up in exasperation.
"You'll have to be a bit more specific, I've had at least four cosmos before I came here. Extra dirty ones." She told me, her smile sad.
I got up to go sit next to her where I hugged her sideways; Lia only ever drank cosmos when she is very sad.
"I'll tell you all about it I promise. You first, one boy trouble at a time." She said with a slight giggle.
"Ok...it's just that, I know there is something between me and Lucca, I am not that oblivious." I started only to be cut off by Lia.
"Yeah there is, all of us know it. It's this thing called sexual tension." She said laughing at me when I shoved at her.
"Ok, ok. Sorry, continue please." She said still laughing. I just scowled at her.
"As I was saying, I know there is something going on between me and Lucca, that is not sexual tension, but I am not going to act on it. He is way out of my league!" I exclaimed throwing my hands up in exasperation.
"Out of your league? Pray tell, just how is he out of your league?" she asked completely bewildered.
We both talked for what seemed like hours. I poured my heart out to her and she did the same. Turns out Danny is being a complete asshole to her to get her to stop pursuing him. Where on one hand I know Lia won't stop that easily, I also know that his actions are hurting her.
"Do you want me to beat him up?" I asked, completely serious.
"No, no! At least not yet. Though it would be funny seeing you kick his ass." She laughed as I smirked at the satisfying mental image.
"Speaking of, I have never seen you fight. I need to see you fight, Vi!" she demanded as I rolled my eyes at her petulant behavior.
"Next time I go to Vertigo, I am dragging you with me." I promised as she looked at me in confusion.
"Vertigo?" she asked.
"The fight bar I go to, to let off steam from time to time." I explained to her, surprised that there is something that this woman doesn't know.
That was the first time, and hopefully last, I heard Natalia Petrov squeal.
After that we talked some more before Lia had to leave. As soon as she left I started to mentally prepare myself for the first dinner I was going to have with Lucca Santos.
***
It turns out that dinner was rather a dull affair that day and all the mental preparation I did was for nothing.
Lucca was nowhere to be seen, Danny disappearing to the same place where he was. The only company I had on the dinner table was Renaldo and Christian whom I completely ignored and rather preferred to concentrate on my email interaction with Clark. This same patterned continued for the next two nights.
It was the second night of a still Lucca-less dinner and I was busy on the phone with my assistant. The Nolans had rescheduled on me two days ago and were supposed to come tomorrow.
We were deciding on when and how to proceed with the Nolans. Jenny and Ethan were scheduled to meet me at my office at 10 in the morning.
***
I was brought back from my train of thought when I heard a knock on my door. I looked up from the file to see Clark enter my office. Renaldo who had been sitting on the sofa by the coffee table gave him a brief glance before going back to playing whatever game he had been playing since the second we entered my office.
Now any sane person would wonder what Renaldo was doing in my office. There was only one very infuriating answer to that.
Lucca fucking Santos, that little piece of shit had asked Renaldo to trail me just because he and Danny couldn't accompany me to the office today. And like the little bitch he was, he agreed. So just because of that I had that fucking Ogre trail me everywhere since morning.
"The Nolans are here, on their way up." Clark told me eyeing Renaldo cautiously. He looked scared as he should, Renaldo looked pretty darn intimidating.
"Send them in immediately, then." I told Clark. He nodded.
I looked up at Renaldo with a pointed glare only to see him looking at me passively already. I intensified my glare just a bit to send a clear message: get out.
"Before you start arguing and bitching about me staying put, shut up. The Boss has ordered me to not let you out of my sight, so don't bother arguing." He said with calm, no non sense tone.
I could see Mr. Nolan come towards my office with his brat trailing right behind him. Not wanting to create a scene in front of him I resigned to the much irate situation.
"Fine." I said through gritted teeth and waited for Mr. Nolan to finally make an appearance.
***
I had expected Jenny to be a nutshell brat, a spoilt little girl that was all bark and no bite. But, boy was I wrong; this bitch would bite without hesitation. I was sure of it.
Mr. Nolan looked both exasperated and tired as he sat down in chair in front of me.
Before he spoke anything, he looked t Renaldo warily and then back at me.
"Don't worry about him Ethan; he won't say a word out of this office." I reassured him as he nodded.
It was like that one sentence did it, the floodgates had opened.
"I don't know what to do with her Violet! I gave her everything. I know that legally there is nothing you can do, but the thing is I don't want your legal advice. I just sprung her out of jail about an hour ago!" He looked up at me, an image of a desperate man.
Ethan didn't have many friends in the society after the passing of his wife some odd seven years ago. He isolated himself and became a total recluse. So the fact that he had very few friends was not that surprising. I was one of them, so it was natural he would come to me.
"Give me a minute alone with her." I asked him politely.
He nodded getting up immediately and left my office.
I turned to look at the dull blue eyes that had red rims around them that just noticed. She was high.
Opening the small cooler next to my desk I passed her a chilled bottle of water. She rolled her eyes at me but took it nonetheless.
"You know how many of these I drank in the last hour?" she asked me snarkily, clearly a rhetoric.
I just glared at her, clearly not amused.
"Sooo, what is the scary guy back there doing here?" she asked eying Renaldo sitting at the back. He looked up at her and then at me raising a brow at me. Clearly amused.
"None of your business, now is it?" I snapped, waiting for her to finish the bottle.
"Down, girl. I ain't want nothing to do with your boy toy." She said giggling.
I heard Renaldo hide his laugh behind an uncomfortable cough.
"Want to tell me why you were arrested?" I asked her back instead.
"Now how is that any of your business?" she had the audacity to roll her eyes at me.
"Your father made it my business the second you walked in." I replied casually trying to control my breathing. This girl was pissing me off; I had a lot of work to do than to listen to her whining.
"You want to know what I think? I think you have a stick so far-" she starte saying but I cut her off. Her opinions on my every comment were irritating.
"Jenny let's get one thing very clear, opinions are like assholes. Everybody has them, not necessary that I need to know what yours looks like, is it?"I snapped at her. I could see her about to retort.
Before she could give me one more snarky reply, I snapped at her.
"Listen here and listen good. I am a busy woman who couldn't be bothered to give a single fuck about your miserable life. The only reason I am interfering is because your father is a friend." I snapped.
"Then go fuck him and stop getting in my shit. God knows he needs to get laid." She snapped back.
I got up from my seat immediately, my hands fisting at my sides. I could feel my facial muscles contorting into a scary look.
"Ok, ok, chill. I was joking, I'll tell ya'! I was just hanging around with a bunch of my friends. They were dealing and had a shipment coming in. Never seen drugs deal in my life before so I thought that what the hell, I could tag along. And the next thing we know there's sirens and cops everywhere!" she let out in one breathe.
"That's all?" I asked, feeling that she was still hiding something.
"I may or may not have been stoned myself at the time of arrest." She mumbled almost inaudibly but I caught it.
"You still are, aren't you?" I asked, my disappointment and premonition clear in my tone.
I knew she was.
"Yeah, I'm still baked. Jovie was passing around pretty hardcore shit." She giggled like a complete moron.
"Did this Jovie force you to come with him or you went willingly?" I asked, interested in the way she spoke about this Jovie guy.
"He may have told me that it would be pretty cool if I was there with him, but going with him was completely my decision!" he replied immediately, becoming completely defensive.
She liked Jovie.
"Listen Jenny, I know you are not going to listen to me, but this is just free advice, so take it, yeah? Don't ruin your future just to fit in a clique, that's just stupid. Be your own self, be someone your father could be proud of and surround yourself with people that make you a better you. Boys like Jovie, they come and go, but if you think that he really likes you, he'll accept you in whichever way he gets you. Don't change for him, don't change for anybody. If you want to change, change for yourself." I told her, recalling my father's words.
"Why do you think my father brought me to you specifically?" she asked after some amount of contemplation.
"Because I am his friend and he knows for him I would talk to you." I answered her, humoring her.
Her reaction to my answer was unexpected.
She snorted.
"No. He brought me here because I would listen to you." Her statement shocked me. she saw the shock on my face.
"I start my pre-law this fall at Columbia. Ever since I saw you fight my father's case some 5 years ago. I wanted to be like you. So when he told me that he is bringing me here, I was mortified and excited both, to be honest." She admitted, her chocolate brown skin of her cheeks gaining a bit pinkish hue.
I was shocked.
"Oh."
"Well yeah." The cocky little brat attitude had left her and was replaced with a much milder version of herself.
Inspiration struck me.
"Say what, you stop doing drugs and getting jail time and put in hard work for your law school and I will make sure to take you as my associate as soon as you graduate, given you are qualified enough." I made her a deal, a deal I was sure that I was going to regret.
"B-but you haven't had an associate since Edward Edenbrooke." She murmured shocked, just loud enough for me to hear.
It was downright creepy how she knew that, but I let it go. I just gave her a simple shrug in return.
She got up from her chair, nodded enthusiastically and extended her hand for a handshake which I returned briefly. She left my office without a word and shortly after her exit her father and my assistant came in.
I looked up at Nolan with a small smirk.
"It's done. She knows that she fucks up one time and she is in trouble with me. Don't worry about her Ethan." I told him to which he smiled back at me and nodded. Thanking me he exited my office.
"Keep an eye on that girl. I need her progress report of each semester." I told Clark who simply nodded and left the office.
***
The rest of the day passed by quiet slowly and true to his word I didn't hear a single peep from Renaldo. Between the paperwork that Chris was making me do and the progress reports that I had to review of my grandfather's company I skipped lunch and was practically dying of hunger by the time I was ready to leave the office.
On the way to Lucca's mansion, I relented at letting Renaldo driving my baby. I was more than surprised when I heard him compliment my car but thanked him with a shocked expression nonetheless.
"The Boss is here." Renaldo said as he parked the car in the garage.
Fuck me.
Before I could reel back from the shock and open my door, I was greeted by a sexy yet angry Lucca talking to some poor bastard in gibberish, which I presume was Italian, on the phone.
I opened my door and stepped out, enjoying the view in front of me.
Lucca Santos in his white dress shirt, black trousers and blazer was a sight to behold. He looked deliciously sinful and my mind was conjuring up different ways I could help him out of his custom made suit.
My thoughts at this point had ceased to surprise me. I had accepted the fact that around Lucca I became a hormonal, sex starved teenager. But although I let my eyes undress him unashamedly, I didn't miss his doing the same to me.
I could feel his eyes traveling all the way from my slightly parted lips, down my breasts and resting a little longer on my legs. Those green orbs undressing me almost felt tangible. It left me hot and slightly breathless.
But the thing that made me loose all my breath was the utter look of complete and unadulterated fury etched onto his features. Warning bells were going off in my head this time, because this time it was different, this time that look was directed at me and I had no clue what I did to deserve it.
He offered me his hand, an action quiet unlikely for him. Whatever had gotten into him was scaring the crap out of me. Without giving it a second thought, I took his hand and got out of the car.
"Damanio will get someone to get your things to the room, come let's have dinner." His voice was a chilling monotone that caused shivers to run down my spine. I chose not to argue with him and followed behind him.
As we entered the dining room, I could see the table was already prepared. Angela had prepared Indian today. Fantastic, adding spice to an already dramatic day.
She had gone all out. She had prepared white rice, chicken curry, an assortment of breads, a wholesome salad, a bucket of ice with two wine bottle in it and four glasses of wine.
No sooner than I and Lucca took our places, him at the head of the table and me on his left side across the two plate arrangements, did Danny and Renaldo join us. The dinner was tense but went smoothly. Danny couldn't stop yammering about some movie he couldn't wait to see and from time to time I would catch Lucca smirking, smiling or rolling his eyes at Danny.
Dinner went on like that, with only Lucca and Danny talking. Renaldo and I kept quiet. I was busy eating and Renaldo was too, with the occasional glares he threw my way. What had gotten up his ass?
Before I knew, two girls wearing identical uniforms had cleared our plates and only left the wine glasses behind, one of them returned to refill all of them before leaving for good.
After I took a generous sip of my wine, I turned to Lucca, deciding to acknowledge the elephant in the room.
"What did you want to tell me?" I asked, all humor in his eyes vanished as the rage from before entered them.
"Not here, in my office." Lucca almost snapped.
I was shocked, almost outraged at his behavior and was about to give him a piece of my mind when I caught the look Danny gave me that clearly told me to do just the opposite.
Danny was a friend I trusted him and his judgment. So I decided to keep my ire to myself, for now.
All four of us reached is office and seated ourselves there. Lucca who had taken a seat behind his desk sat there, glaring back at me. I decided to give as good as I was getting and glared.
The tension thickened and I more felt than saw him clenching his fists.
Danny broke the silence.
"Fratello, attento. Potrebbe non essere come sembra." He whispered to Lucca, looking as bit alarmed as he sounded. (Brother, careful. It may not be as it seems.)
"Zitto." Lucca snarled without breaking eye contact. (Shut up)
Then he addressed me directly, his voice chilly and menacing.
"I don't like liars' tesoro. In my family liars are like vermins, and vermins don't get to live." He snarled both of his hands on the desk as he leaned over the desk towards me.
I felt terrified. I had never seen him like this; so full of hatred and anger. I was terrified for my life. In this moment I was a hundred percent sure that of whatever he was accusing me of, if it somehow was proven true, he would kill me.
"So tell me tesoro, when I showed you Alexei's picture and asked you if you knew him, did you lie to me?" he questioned, the snarl still very much evident in his voice.
I shook my head too terrified that my voice would be shaky.
"Words." He spat out the word caus9ing me to gasp out loudly. "Use your words." He whispered. His face a hard mask of no emotions but his eyes looked conflicted. They looked desperate and angered.
"No, I didn't. I told you I didn't know him." I managed to sound angry despite my sheer terror.
"Then...what...is...this?" he said slamming four different pictures with each word he spat out.
I looked at the pictures to see they were of me and Lia. But we were very young, fifteen to be exact. These pictures were taken a decade ago.
The first picture was of me kissing my then boyfriend's cheek while he threw back a shot of tequila, well I wouldn't call him boyfriend, he was just a fling. The second picture was of me and Lia doing body shots off of him, third was of me and Lia kissing each other whilst my boyfriend smiled like a complete buffon from underneath us, still half naked and the last was me being lifted up on my boyfriend's shoulder and Lia on some other random guy's while we shouted like complete idiots.
And it was then I saw it in the third picture, in the background, along with the rest of the crowd was Alexei, a very younger version of the picture Lucca showed me, a happier version too. He was pissed drunk like the rest of us and cheering on me and Lia while we made out. And in the last picture Lia was perched on Alexei's shoulders.
"You better have a fucking fantastic explain for this, tesoro." He sneered the last word at me.
"I-I was fifteen and Lia was too. We had gone to London for a foreign exchange programme for a month and met these two hot guys. One was in our year and the other was a senior, Alex and Demi, as far as I can remember. That 's how they had introduced themselves." I said, as I recalled that one odd month that happened some 10 to 11 years ago.
"D-demi and I, we instantly clicked." I took a deep breath trying my hardest to keep the tears at bay. I felt a hand on my shoulders and instantly knew it was Danny.
"W-we started dating after knowing each other for only a few days. But we kept things casual, we were not exclusive because we knew that I was leaving to come back in a month and I was no way in hell ready for a long distance relationship. These pictures were from the night of my 16th birthday, a day before we were leaving back for New York. Alex and Demi took us out to the club and somehow got us in. The whole night is still a blur but from whatever videos Lia had on her phone, it was wild.
The next morning I woke up, in the bed with Demi. I felt sad, not because I was leaving him but because it was my f-first time and I didn't remember a single thing from the night. I left with a note as I had to board a plane shortly. Lia met me outside the club, she was a mess too. On our flight back we cried our eyes out, deleted the videos on her phone and decided to never speak of it again." I finished, surprised at the word vomit that just happened.
"Ok, I believe you." Lucca sighed sitting back on his chair and staring at the pictures.
Had I not been so emotionally drained I would have given it to him good for assuming heaven knows what.
"I am going to leave now." I said as I made my way towards the office door.
As soon as I closed it, I could hear angry voices of Lucca and Danny almost shouting at one another in Italian.
Huh, guess they were waiting for me to fuck off then.
I headed to my room, decided not to do any of the work I had planned and catching up on some Netflix, I needed me some Harvey Specter.
***
After all the tension and the consecutive revelations, I was more than happy to be back in my room. I had just made myself comfortable on the bed and for once was not going to work but catch up on some series when my mobile rang.
Dammit.
Christopher was face timing me. Normally I would have ignored this but then I remembered, Caley was living with him for the time being, maybe she wanted to talk.
I accepted the call to see Chris and Caley's faces squished in the screen together.
"Don't go crazy on me, the little bugger wanted to talk." Chris greeted me, making no effort to move from his place.
Okay, then,
I rolled my eyes and allowed my lips to curve into a small smile.
"Hey baby. Are you alright?" I asked looking at her. She looked too excited for some reason.
I had a very bad feeling about this call.
"Hey, Vi. Everything's just fine, peachy in fact. What were you doing?" She stalled, that was never good.
I decided to humor her.
"Nothing much baby. I decided to play hooky from my work for a while and relax, maybe catch up a bit on some Netflix. What about you?" I asked her, keeping my voice level and completely free of the anxiety I was feeling.
"Oh you know..." she trailed off.
I was a ticking bomb by this point. What had she done? Caley was never like this with me, she was always so forthcoming about everything.
"Ok, Caley. Let's cut to the chase, okay? What's the matter, you know you can tell me anything, right?" I asked, my voice a bit more stern than what I had intended.
"AboyaskedmeoutandIwaswonderingifIcouldgo" Honestly? I didn't get a word.
"Ok, that was a good start; now speak at a speed I can understand." I patronized her.
She gulped loudly, closed her eyes took and deep breath before she spoke.
"Today I had an inter-collegiate programme at the school; it's only meant for really smart students. So you know I had to go in today despite the fact that I start school day after. It was actually really fun and so many different colleges had come from all over to talk about the courses and everything." She began her voice still full of nervousness but still a bit excited.
"So after the programme was over we were encouraged to go talk to the ambassadors of the colleges that interested us. So I of course chose New York School of Fine Arts, you know it's my dream to get in that college, right. I went up to talk to the ambassador who was doing fashion designing with honors in quantum thermodynamics. And you know how controversial the recent take on open quantum systems has been, right?" She paused, expecting me to give her an answer.
"You know baby, if you want me to understand your problem here, you'll have to keep your talking to English." I said my voice not betraying any kind of confusion of whatever gibberish she had been yammering about.
Beside her I could see Chris sitting with a totally dumbstruck face.
"About physics. We were talking about Physics." She clarified with a before continuing.
"So then one thing led to another and we started talking about the Planetarium down at the First Avenue where they will be showing how the change in the planetary position has caused a shift in the laws of open quantum systems, at the end of this month. So he asked me to go with him, there just the two of us." She finished, her voice getting softer and softer at the end.
This was too much. May be I was reading too much into it?
"Baby, how old is this guy?" I asked hoping to god he wasn't some old pedo, so help me god if he was, I was going to fuck him up.
"Dylan. His name is Dylan and he is thirteen, Vi. Only a year older to me." she almost whined knowing exactly where my thoughts were running off of to.
Thirteen and in college, wow. Must be a smart kid like my Caley.
But thirteen? Isn't that too young? Well she is also twelve, well almost anyway.
On the side I noted throughout this whole conversation Chris hadn't moved a inch and was listening on with rapt attention. I could tell, he was ready to rip this Dylan kid's head off.
"So what are his intentions with you, young lady?" I asked with a sad smile. This was the same line my father had used on me when I told him about my first date.
She sighed slowly, gathering all her courage.
"Vi, Dylan asked me out on a date." She cut to the chase.
"WHAT?!" Chris and I shouted at once.
I knew this was coming but I was not prepared for this, not in the least.
I could feel chaos rising; now I just needed to learn how to find comfort in it.
A/N:
Uff, can we just talk about the level of drama in this chapter? To be honest, I loved writing it. Drama is my life, seriously, my real life is so dramatic right now, no wonder this chapter turned out like that.
So what do you think about Jenny, bratty or just a kiss ass opportunist or something totally different?
What do you think about Violet's raunchy teen years? I made Lia and her kiss, say whaaat?
Caley got a date?! *gasps* Say whaaaat now? ( Don't hate on me for that, in my defence Dylan is 13)
What do you think about Lucca being all domineering and demanding? Mean or just sexy?
Now as usual I don't really know when I am going to update next, but I am hoping sooner than this time.
Wish me luck, my finals start in a week! Dear God, save me.
Until next time, my beautiful sexy readers!
