*Ninja (the Author)'s pov...*

CRASH!

I awoke with a start. It was the middle of the night and I was starting to worry. Hesitantly, I grabbed the flashlight on my nightstand and slowly headed towards the hallway.

I heard footsteps creeping nearby, so I summoned one of my golden katanas just in case. I saw the shadow of a figure for just a moment, so I swung my katana just so it was right against their neck and slowly backed them up against the wall.

"Nice try, but you aren't going to steal anything that easily- oh!" the awkward moment when I realized it was only Oddles and not some weird burglar.

"I heard footsteps and a crash and thought that some person was trying to steal something. Sorry Oddles." I said making my katana vanish and giving Oddles a quick hug.

"I just got up to get some water." Oddles replied, "Maybe I accidentally knocked over a vase without knowing it."

"Hmmm. Could be. Well, we can take a look in the morning when there is light." I said, "Good night Oddles."

"Night Ninja." Oddles replied.

The two of us headed back to bed.

*The next morning*

"Hmmm. We looked everywhere! Not a broken thing in sight!" I said.

Everyone had just finished searching the place for what caused the crash last night. So far, we had no luck.

"Did you check your safe?" Starry asked.

Oh yeah! I remembered that I have a safe in my closet. I put my magatama in a glass case and set it in the safe so that it doesn't get stolen and so I don't lay on it in my sleep.

A magatama is a crystal that serves as our key between the Author's realm and our book worlds. Each Author has one and only that specific magatama can access their worlds. I really hope it didn't go missing. Remember what happened to Starry...........

I opened my safe, hoping everything would be alright and that I was just hearing things.

AHHHHHHHHHH!
