chapter 13
Stergis paced through the streets hoping that he was right about the voices. He couldn't help being drawn to this mystery. The voice had given him all he needed to find her. What did he have to lose anyway? He hoped to find it soon. He wanted to know who could call to him from a different realm. That was some potent magical skill. He was lost in his own thoughts. He turned a big corner and headed up a hill.
Once he hoofed up the gigantic steep hill he saw a large white structure. It was fenced in with a perfect green lawn. There were humans walking around in little white coats. He wasn't entirely sure this was it, but he thought it was worth a try. He walked through the glass double doors and noticed there were a lot of people in this place. He roamed through the building, unnoticed. For him that was a good thing. While he was roaming the halls, not far from him Ravenessa felt the most bewildering impression.
She had a feeling of a dark stranger crossing her path. She was puzzled by the experience, it had been months since she'd received any thing of that nature. It had been so long that it seemed a different way of life to her now. The only thing she looked forward to was seeing George during the social hour. While she waited in her room a stranger opened the door. She just stared at him for a long intense moment.
"Hello there miss." The stranger spoke, it felt as if he knew her.
"Hello, excuse me but who are you?" She asked puzzled by this first meeting.
"My name is Stergis, are you Ravenessa?" He answered her with a kindness he hadn't felt before this moment in time. He hoped that it was her, she seemed very interesting not to mention a dark beauty he hadn't seen in decades.
"Yes I'm her, but I'm sorry I don't think we've met before." She replied.
"Where are you from?" He asked in a rather charming manner.
She invited him to sit down with her for a moment, as she went into depth of where she had been from, the incantation and how she ended up in this strange place. When she had finished telling the story, again he smiled at her.
"Are you pleased that I had to go through all of this?" She asked in a fierce tone, assuming he was enjoying her miserable state.
"No that's not it at all."
"What is it then?" She demanded to know.
"I'm a dark sorcerer like you, I live in the darker part of the forest." He started to explain, and her fierce eyes softened a little more.
"I'm here to take you and the others home." He told her with an honest look in his gentle eyes. He then held her hand a moment.
"How did you find me?" She asked curious about that fact.
"I have been receiving your astral messages." He replied.
"What do you mean?" She asked a look of bewilderment came across her eyes. She was even more confused.
"Are you telling me that you don't know? That's one heck of an ability." He stated, impressed by her skill.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"It is a rare gift to send astral messages, even more so to not even know you're doing so." He informed her.
"I'd like to see some of the others we must bring back with us." Stergis asked her sweetly.
"We'll ask George he's from our world." She suggested to him.
"Oh, I get it." He spoke as if he were a heart broken child. He felt like a fool. A woman like her, with talent, beauty and spitfire to her, why wouldn't she be spoken for? He felt so stupid but tried not to let it show.
"George is a dwarf from our forest." She explained to him.
"Take me to see him first." Stergis replied in a neutral tone.
"Sure, follow me I'm sure he's in his room." She replied and then led him down a separate hallway.
He followed her in silence, hoping that he could get them all home safely and before much longer. This reality was just too strange for him to deal with. They walked together down a long and narrow hallway scented with floor cleaner and desperation. They walked down the hall until she stopped at the last door on the left. It took him a few minutes, but George got up and moving, shuffling his feet.
"Who's at the door?" An older scruffy sounding voice called.
"It's me and I brought a friend." The dark sorceress replied.
"Come on in." George replied.
The two of them entered a room almost identical to hers. There on the bed sat a short elderly read haired fellow reading a book. Stergis smiled, relieved that he wouldn't need to compete for her affections. He seemed like a nice old man, obviously he had been in this world way too long. The little man looked up from his book to greet his company.
"Ravenessa dear, so good to see you. Who's the tall gentleman?" George asked, he was always direct when he wanted to know something. She smiled at him.
"George it's good to see you as well. This is Stergis a sorcerer from our world. He's come here to take us home. Were going to go home."
