12. Fighting
They were idiots.
That's what Dalton thought at least. The blond was enjoying the mess that was the Hill family trying to train Morales, Vaughns, and Pendery. It wasn't that the three were bad at fighting per say. It was just that Morales was trying to get away from participating, Vaughns kept zoning out, and Pendery was- okay one of them was bad at fighting.
"Cole, that's not how you're supposed to hold them." Hill told the dirty blond, Dalton could hear her holding back her frustration. "Gabe, so help me if you don't stay here I'll punch you in the face."
Dalton laughed, earning himself the girl's angry glare. It was like she was asking him to help. Like Dalton would do that.
"Maybe you can aid my descendant." Dalton was startled by the hologram's voice. Dal looked at the tinted and faded figure.
"If Hill wanted help she wouldn't of let Taylor and Behlendorf go hunting together or Marsh and Scarzone go wandering around." Dalton replied. The dead man frowned before disappearing.
Dalton was about to mentally mark a point for himself in his head but was interrupted by a deadly dagger zooming in right beside his head. He turned to face Hill, dragging Pendery with her.
"Take this one. Train him or whatever, just don't sit there doing nothing. We have a world to save here." The Asian snarled before hurling Pendery at the bleached blond.
Dalton didn't like the dirty blond. He wasn't getting good vibes about him. The boy was hesitant about stopping the Waru and seemed to flinch whenever the rest of them talked bad about them. Dal didn't trust those kinds of people.
"Uh so-" Dalton interrupted the other boy when he saw Behlendorf and Taylor walking in.
The blond made a beeline for them, dragging the younger with him. Unfortunately, when he made eye contact with the Asian boy, the taller practically tugged Taylor with him. Then the swordsman closed the door violently behind them.
Dalton swore under his breath,
"Were you trying to pawn me off?" Dalton swung around to face Pendery, the source of that sentence.
"Uh, no?" Dalton faked a smile while not sounding too convincing.
Pendery rolled his eyes, "You don't have to lie. I know you don't trust me."
"What! When did I say I don't trust you?"
"You didn't say it, but you were thinking it."
"While that is totally possible and could be completely accurate, you have no proof that I think such things. Therefore, you should go to your room and think about what you have accused me of."
Pendery cocked his head to the side and raised an eyebrow. Then he threw the incredibly dangerous sticks at the blond. Thus, almost knocking him in the head.
"Okay you little-" Dalton's profanity had been ceased because Sage slapped him in the back of the head.
"Behave, or so help me, I will stab both of you in the leg!" The short female growled. "Rapattoni, if you don't help train him I'm gonna make Nikki be your instructor."
This struck a chord in Dalton. Angry Nikki terrified him. Reluctantly, he grabbed Cole by the forearm and dragged him somewhere private to teach him, keeping in mind that he didn't want to be instructed to use deadly weapons by a demon spawn.
Dalton bent over to pick the up the tonfa that had fallen on the ground and just ran into the nearest room. He could hear the others fighting when he closed the door. The bleached blond threw Cole's weapon over his shoulder, not really caring whether or not the dirty blond could actually catch it. Although, he mentally cursed when he turned to see that the boy had actually caught them.
"Do you hate me or something? What did I even do?"
"Well Pendery, to be totally honest, I don't trust you. Back at my home there was only one group of people I hated. You fit the persona." Dal admitted.
"The Waru? The ones that take levels?" Pendery asked
"No, the supporters, the ones that didn't do shit." Rapattoni scoffed, turning to draw a target on the wall with the chalk he had placed in his pocket earlier that day before training.
Because of this, he did not see Cole wincing at his words.
"Alright Pendery, it's easy, all you gotta do is beat up this target." Dalton told the dirty blond.
"Call me Cole, please?" Cole asked, in a small voice.
"I'd rather not, thanks." Dalton snorted, proceeding to show Cole how exactly to beat up the target but with nunchucks instead of tonfa.
Cole sighed, doing as he was shown. By the end of the session, the wall was basically destroyed. When the dirty blond asked the bleached blond about what they were supposed to do about it, Dal replied with a snarky answer about how Sage shouldn't of made him train anyone.
They walked out to see the others were having dinner, Nikki's ancestor's hologram was with them, talking to the girls. The two blonds joined them.
"I don't think it matters, he was chosen and we can't change that." Dal overheard Sage say to Alex.
"It's not like he had a choice in that, it's how he was raised." Nikki agreed.
Dalton asked Liam, who was the closest to the conversation, who they were talking about. Liam shrugged and so did Will.
Sage seemed to notice that all the boys were now here so she stood up and made an announcement.
"A couple of people are coming here so I expect good behaviour from everyone." Sage glared towards Dalton. "They're friends, not foes. They need a place to stay for a while so we're letting them stay here."
"Well who are they?" Gabe asked.
"You'll find out soon enough." Nikki answered, then the girls went back to eating, leaving the boys all confused.
