Windkit sat up at the base of Rockpile. Her paws were tingling with excitement. This was the day she and her brothers, Driftkit and Lakekit, would become apprentices. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather at Rockpile for a Clan meeting!," Dawnstar's yowl rang across the clearing. As cats came out of their dens and gathered around Rockpile Dawnstar beckoned then closer with a wave of her tail. Windkit led her littermates closer to Dawnstar. "Driftkit.," mewed Dawnstar. "Do you promise to learn and live with the warrior code and be a loyal member of BreezeClan?," Dawnstar mewed. "I do.," Driftkit squeaked. "Then by the powers of StarClan, until you have earned your warrior name, you shall be known as Driftpaw.," Dawnstar paused. "Woodstep, you will mentor Driftpaw.", Dawnstar mewed. The two toms touched noses. "I promise to teach you well.," Woodstep murmured. Driftpaw's eyes lit up in adnoledgtment. Then they backed into the crowd. "Lakekit.," Dawnstar mewed. "Do you promise to learn the warrior code and to be loyal yo BreezeClan at the cost of your life?.," Dawnstar mewed. "I do!," squeaked Lakekit. "Then by the powers of StarClan, until you have earned your warrior name, you shall be known as Lakepaw. Silkmuzzle, you shall mentor Lakepaw.," Dawnstar mewed. The two touched noses. Then, like the others, walked side-by-side into the crowd. Windkit was the only one left. Her heart was beating like crazy as Dawnstar told her to come over. "Windkit, do you promise to love everyone in your clan and learn the warrior code to protect BreezeClan at the cost of your life?," Dawnstar meowed. "Yes, I do!," Windkit squeaked exitedly. "Then by the powers of StarClan, until you have earned your warrior name, you shall be known as Windpaw. Patchpool, you shall mentor Windpaw. Woah! Patchpool? She's an amazing warrior and she's really nice!
The two she-cats touched noses. "You're amazing!," Windpaw whispered. "I bet you are too!," Patchpool mewed as she drew away.
"Driftpaw! Lakepaw! Windpaw!," the clan yowled.
