A week later...

I woke up to darkness since I woke up before the sun.

That's how early I have to wake up for school--before the sun is even out!

Next week...next week there's no school... You can do it, go! my conscious told me.

I just brought the edge of my quilt and blanket underneath my chin, absorbing in all the warmth I didn't want to leave behind. I'll stay here, thank you very much. It's too cold.

You're gonna start hating it if you get up late! You're gonna be rushing!

Ugh... I just laid there with my eyes closed, envisioning my bed having a control panel in my hand's reach and wheels underneath; with that, I would just roll out of my room without rolling out of comfort and get ready for school in my bed. But my mental video didn't go that far when my bed got stuck in the doorway of my bedroom.

Hello, the time's a-tickin'! You MUST get up! my conscious warned me.

I lolled my head over to the right, looking down at my alarm clock that was showing '5:55' in bright red lights. Minus that by ten...five forty-five. Yeah, I have my clock ten minutes ahead to trick me into thinking I'm running late so that I can get out of bed, but it doesn't help when I know that it's ten minutes ahead. Let me rest for five more minutes, okay? I did not want to get up to go somewhere I didn't want to go to.

Well, um...chemistry is today. Hint, hint.

I frowned at the darkness. I hate you. I then forced myself up, sitting up in the dark morning. The only reason I'll get up for school! Ugh! I then threw my snuggly quilt and blankets off of me and walked out of my room.

Yes, it's official: I have a crush on my Russian table partner.

Okay, so I got of bed for a good reason, I thought to myself as I walked into the chemistry classroom, spotting Alek at his usual place, next to mine.

I put on my 'I-am-cool-and-collected-and-don't-really-care-for-you-on-the-outside-but-freaking-out-because-you-are-so-beautiful-on-the-inside' attitude and strolled into the classroom and to my chair. I plopped my chemistry binder on the desk and dropped my backpack on the tile flooring next to my desk. Trying to not look at Alek, which was very hard to do, I sat down on my chair and pulled out my iPad from my backpack. My iPad has a heavy-duty keyboard case, so it can survive drops and throws and tosses. I tried to look sophisticated as I turned on my iPad's keyboard so that Alek won't notice me going crazy over him.

"Is that flag Norway?" I heard Alek say.

I sat up straight and looked at him. "What was that?"

"Is that flag--" He points to the red flag with a blue cross outlined with white that was stuck on my neon pink iPad cover. "--it's Norway's right?"

My felt my face brighten up a bit. "Yeah, it's the Norwegian flag!" Wow, he's knows his flags!

"Are you Norwegian?" he asked me while looking at me.

Ugh...I wished. "Well, I'm not sure, I think I am, but I don't know, I just want to visit Norway."

"Oh..." He nodded his head. "I have friends in Norway."

My eyes went wide. "Really? That's so cool!" Well, Russia is pretty close to Norway, so I can see how he can have friends from there.

"Yeah, I can count to ten in Norwegian."

"Me too!" I exclaimed. OMG, we can speak Norwegian! My mind began to count in Norwegian, like as if it was proving to him that I actually knew how to count in the foreign language: en, to, tre...

"Okay, class, put your iPads away and backpacks off the desks, we're doing a powerpoint today," Mr. Jekyll announced as he walked to the end of our row to my right and began passing out packets. I received the packets and handed them to Alek after taking one for myself.

After the whole class got their packets, the teacher began talking about significant figures, which I did not get, but still went along with by filling in the blanks. Sig figs, don't understand... Meh... was all my mind was saying as I was filling in the blanks.

I looked up after I was done writing, trying to comprehend as much as I could of his teaching.

After he was done blabbing about how to determine a significant figure, he faced us and stepped forward to get closer to us. "Any questions so far?"

We just stared at him, wanting him to continue on so that we could just fill in the rest of the blanks, turn in the packet, and get on with our homework.

"Are you sure?" He began sauntering back to the screen. "Because this is important for the subject of chemistry." He spun around once he was next to the screen and faced us. "You will be using this--" He then slammed his hand on the screen, which suddenly flickered and turned dark.

All of our eyes went wide, including Mr. Jekyll's. Whoa, that was weird!

Then my class went crazy: With a slap of a hand, the lesson ran away! They were shouting and hooting and practically celebrating that there was a malfunction in the lesson and that meant less time to learn.

I was tempted to see Alek's expression, but it was unnecessary to when I heard him go, "Whoa-ho!" with that accent of his.
Yes, Alek, you just took the words out of my mouth. I was just gawking at the blank screen with raised eyebrows. That's like technokinesis--Technology Manipulation!

Then an idea floated into my mind: What if supernatural powers actually existed? No, what if there are students and teachers here that have powers?

Nah, that can't be true, the super powers are fictional. I shook my head a bit to shake off the thought.

I then spotted Mr. Jekyll serenely tapping his hand on the screen lightly two times; the screen blinked and brought back up the lesson.

Or are they?
