“Hi! Welcome in!” The too-happy-to-be-normal hostess greeted as I walked into the restaurant. I gave her my best smile trying to look pleasant and not like the hungry maniac I currently was.

“Can I get a takeaway menu?” I asked with the smile plastered on my face. The happy girl simply nodded and reached for a plastic menu.

“We have a dinner special running for another twenty minutes” She explained pointing to the back of the menu. “We also have a new dessert special, that you need to try. Fresh baked chocolate cake with walnuts, homemade whipped cream, and vanilla ice cream.”

My mouth watered at the sound of the dessert and my stomach seemed to agree with me because at that moment it stopped trying to fold onto itself and I assumed it was now waiting for the promising treat.

“Forget the dinner. I want the dessert.” I replied without missing a beat. Who needs food when you can have devils chocolate delight. I waited patiently in the lobby for about five whole minutes, spending most of the time fantasizing about chocolate and all the things I could do with it.

------
Sitting on my floral print sofa, I fliped open the lid to reveal a sinful creation of chocolate. I'm about halfway thru when I start to feel a small pain in my chest. I ignore it, simply putting it off as a possible side effect of brain freeze. But then the small tingling in my chest becomes a slight pinch and soon after that it turns into an uncomfortable feeling of pins being pushed into my middle. My vision starts to become blurry and as I stand holding my chest hoping to keep it place the remains of the chocolate cake fall to the ground and seconds later I follow.

I woke up in a dark room, it looked like some old castle room because the walls were made of grey stone and there were old fashioned lanterns hanging every few feet.

“Finally, you are awake!” A deep voice called from somewhere in the room. I turned around and discovered a large throne with an extremely handsome man sitting on it.

Great, I was kidnapped by a hot psychopath who lives in a castle.

However I couldn't help but stare, his blue eyes were so bright they seemed to glow, and his golden hair looked like a halo of light.

“Stop staring, it's rude” The man snapped before clearing his throat and speaking again. “Welcome I have been expecting you! My name is Lu-”

“How the hell did I get here?!” I interrupted, I didn't care much for his speech or the fact that he said he had been waiting for me, he had kidnapped me while I was unconscious.

“I was going to get to that, be patient.” He replied with an annoyed look. “As I was saying before you rudely interrupted me, my name is Lucien. Better known as The Devil, Lucifer, The Morningstar, The Prince of Hell, and whatever other name you people have come up with in the past century.”

I stared at him, with a blank look. Did he seriously think I would believe him? He was for one not evil or scary looking and secondly he seemed to be easily annoyed.

“You don't look like the Devil” I pointed out with a shrug.

Lucien just stared at me his mouth slightly open in shock.

“I'm a fallen angel. Angels are beautiful, hence my devilishly handsome looks.”

Great. A cocky psychopath.

“Stop calling me a psychopath. I'm here because I live here. You on the other hand are here because you lived a life of sin!”  He stated with a matter-of-fact tone that I didn't like.

“Ok, so let me get this straight. I'm dead?” I questioned looking at my surroundings once more.

“Yes. Heart attack, tragic really since that chocolate cake is now laying on the floor of your living room.”Lucien replied while waving his left hand in the air dismissively. I thought he was brushing off my question until a notebook appeared in front of him. He studied it mumbling incoherent words every now and then before turning the page.

“Interesting, very interesting...Ahh this is some juicy stuff...well then, seems like you did live a life full of sin and for that you are damned to hell for all of eternity.” Lucien finally informed me as he stood up from his throne.

“Are you going to read my crimes to me?” I asked him crossing my arms are no shifting my weight to one side trying to look a bit menacing.

“Very well have it your way. Age five, we start keeping track at that age because normally by then you have some sort of moral compass.” He explained holding up the notebook. “ You lied to your mother about eating the candy, you also stole a piece of gum from the grocery store and lied about not having eaten ice cre-”

“Are you seriously holding that against me? I was five! Five. I don't remember doing any of that besides isn't there like a ten year limit on crimes? Why don't you use that?” I interrupted, there was no way he was going to sentence me to a life of hell for something every five year old does.

“ For your crimes at the age of five, you get 10 lashes. At age six you stole the neighbors cat and lied to them about not knowing about its whereabouts. You also took Lisa’s crayons and never returned them and you lied to your teachers, anyways for your crimes at the age of six you get 10 more lashes.”

“Hang on a second. I get 10 lashes for stealing gum and lying about candy, but I also get the same punishment for stealing an animal and some girls crayons? This is ridiculous!” I exclaimed. I was outrages this punishment thing was completely unfair.

“You are right, for your crimes at the age of six you get twenty lash-”

“Oh heeeelll no! I don't even remember these event. You can't put me on trial for that. Pick something else.”  I demanded, there was no way he was going to punish me for something that happened over 15 years ago.

“Fine. Let's see...ahh!” Lucian exclaimed excitedly, his happy grin made me slightly nervous at what he was about to say.

“This one's fairly recent. Age 18, cheated on a chemistry test, had ‘naughty’ thoughts about the boy that sat next to you in English, underage drinking, ohhh” Lucien stopped and looked up at me his smirk great even bigger if that was possible. I gulped I knew exactly what was coming next.

“Age nineteen, adultery!” He yelled, only it sounded more like a victory cry than an accusation.

“Hey, in defence I was nineteen and in college. If that's the case then everyone is going to end up down here and you are going to have to look at expanding the place. Overcrowding is not fun.” I replied shrugging my shoulders like the accusation slipped right off. I could see Lucien getting more agitated with every passing second and hoped he would just get it over with.

“Fine, today you lied to your friends. You clearly told them you were on a strick diet of water and greens after they invited you out to dinner. Then, you left early because you “had somewhere to be” and ended up going to a completely different restaurant ordering a giant chocolate cake. Which in turn led to you death and being here!” Lucien slammed the notebook closed and sat back down on his throne. He was beginning to look more like the red creature I was used to hearing about now that his face was red and he was panting like he had ran a mile.

“In my defense, they took me to a vegan restaurant where everything was bland. You would have done the same thing if you had seen the food, because there was nothing to smell.” I pointed out.

Lucien let out a loud sigh and began banging his head against the backrest of his fancy chair. It was clear he was a sore loser.

“You know what? You are right. None of these sins are your fault. Go to Heaven! Exit, make a left, keep going straight you'll find the Elevator to Heaven. It's gold and shiny you can't miss it.” Lucien’s head dropped in defeat as he mumbled out the instructions for me to follow.

“You have an elevator?” I asked amazed that The Devil had an elevator to Heaven.

Lucien looked up at me, a bored look on his face “Yes. It's right next to the Staircase to Heaven, it saves time and nobody likes going up and down one million glowing steps. Besides Gabriel is a lazy bump.”

I simply nodded and turned to make my way out of the room.

“I would say take the stairs it's not like you didn't die of a heart attack!” Lucien called after me. I ignored him, I had an elevator to catch.
