Fourth Snow
(2020 rewrite)
I woke in a meadow of frozen flowers and sat up looking at Kyle sitting his bare back to me. I walked to him plopping down behind him. My hands sliding down his shoulders onto his chest he was so cold but so warm at the same time. He grabbed my arms and turned to look at me. Our eyes locking. "Wake up Malikai." I looked at him confused by his words.
My eyes shot open and I looked at Kyle who was still sleeping. His arms engulfing me in his sleep. His head on my chest that had his shirt over it. I sat up and looked at the time seeing it was eight in the morning. I laid back down and curled around him. I put my arm on his shoulder and put my hand in his hair smiling wide to myself. He was so calm when he slept. His white hair was so soft to the point I wasn't expecting it to feel like fresh fallen snow. My shoulder soon screamed out in pain making me wince as I reached for it. It was like a signal because Kyle shot up and looked at the clock.
"I thought I over slept." He said and I was still hooked onto him like he was to me. I think it took him a minute because I watched his eyes look at my arm and follow it to my body. "Oh my god are you okay?" Was all he said to me before rushing to a dresser.
"I'm fine Kyle. What kind of good morning is that?" I asked sitting up and moving to where he was laying.
He pushed his shirt over and showed my shoulder. "No you're blee- you're healed?" He asked making me wonder what he meant.
"What are you getting on about I'm fine." I explained and he put the bandages down sitting on the bed.
"My shirt is all red Malikai which isn't from me." He told me but soon looked at my body that was now uncovered. I realized that I had nothing on. I was more nude then that time he was undressing me in his room.
I was about to hide under the covers when he read me like a book. He had me in his lap holding me against him.
"Don't go hiding on me now. I wanna enjoy this." He said making my cheeks flush with warmth. "Malikai I never thought I'd have you this vulnerable in front of me."
"Screw you." I growled and he laughed holding me closer to him. He only smiled down at me and didn't do anything, like this moment was too perfect to mess up. "Kyle I thought humans and wendigos couldn't be together."
He only chuckled. "Malikai if I had any horrid intentions with you don't you think I would've done it already."
"I'm sorry I slapped you that time." I apologized and he just kept laughing.
"Malikai that was five years ago." He smiled at me catching my attention to see his elongated canines. "I was over it awhile ago." Kyle really didn't remind me of Alfred or Beth. He didn't look like either one. Not even like Grey. But I could look at Alfred just to look but I could stare at Kyle for hours just to get something out of it.
"Why don't you look like your parents?" I just blurted my thoughts out and he sighed.
"I really don't know. My father's family constantly said I look like one of our ancestors named Ethan. They still say that people can see him walking around."
"Wendigos are old geezers." I said making him laugh.
"I'm only twenty three don't make me feel so old." He defended.
"With that white hair you could've fooled me." I lied and he tackled me to the pillows. He rested he head on the chest making me put my hands into his hair again.
"Your heart is always so loud. Sometimes it's all I hear. Even when I'm not talking to you it's all I can hear." He admitted making me pull my hands away.
"Does is make you hungry or something?" I asked just looking at him as he squeezed my waist pulling himself closer to my chest.
"All I want to do is listen to it. I always knew when you were around and it would always quicken when you heard me. That's how I knew you were awake that time." He was so honest yet so calm in that moment that I felt so safe in this moment. I was finally content around him. "My father and the owner of this place should be coming back so we can go back to the old house." He explained making me look down at him.
"Why were they gone for so long?" I asked him making him sigh.
"Old people problems." He chuckled making my body shiver at the breath he sent to my stomach.
The door slammed open and we both looked at the man who raised us both. "Good morning you two." He seemed angry about our position so we moved away from each other looking at him then to each other. We looked back at Alfred who looked at me but I watched as his eyes looked away from mine and they widened. "Kyle what did I tell you?" He said coming over to me now helping me to my feet.
"Dad it's not like it wasn't consensual." Kyle said making me nod to Alfred.
"I was completely aware of what happened and wanted it to. I promise Alfred we thought about this since day one." He sighed in front of me and looked at Kyle just shaking his head a little.
"Well you two should pack up I will be taking you home tomorrow and I want to be able to move you both out as early as I can." He fixed his tie signifying that he was stressed. I'd seen him do it enough times to know what it meant.
"Dad we both know you're stressed about this." Kyle knew as well as I did when Alfred was stressed he fixed his tie as if it was out of place.
"It's just hard to take in right now." He said and left closing the door behind him. I watched the door as if it would do something itself with no luck, Kyle was already holding me against him.
"Why don't we go get packed up for tomorrow then?" He suggested and I turned my head nodding to him. I left the room and got dressed in a hoodie and jeans putting things in boxes.
"Did he finally mate so you have to leave?" A wendigo girl laughed at me.
"Yeah he did get mated." I told her before continuing to pack.
"Wow that must hurt. He doesn't need you anymore huh?" She said as if it was gonna sting with the fury of ten thousand bees.
"Actually he does need me. Since I'm the one he's mated to." I lifted the cardboard box with my old pictures and books and put the last one on top of the other four.
"Malikai you done packing? Oh it's Ms. I like to open my legs." He smiled at her o shaped mouth as she couldn't believe what I had just said.
"Yeah that was the last of them. At least unless I forgot anything which I don't think I did. I didn't have much in the first place." I explained looking at the girl then to his ice blue eyes.
"Good I was gonna go talk to mom and dad and figure out when they will be here to get us tomorrow." I nodded and he left going to what I thought to be the study.
I went to the girl who was still frozen in place and smiled at her. "I have to finish up so mind backing up." I closed the door and let out a sigh not liking my fake confidence. It kinda made me feel a little too uneasy.
I went back to the boxes and opened the one with pictures pulling out the one of Alfred, Grey, and I when I had first arrived with the wendigo family. I loved them all like they were my own family but I never saw Beth or Alfred as my parents. Grey I saw more like a friends dad than an uncle and of course Kyle. I would never see him as a brother. I just couldn't no matter how hard I tried. I just couldn't.
Kyle was always more of a brother, more of a friend, more of an enemy. He was someone I always wanted to be beside.
