I say that they were nervous was an understatement.
My eyes were narrowed as I slowly sipped my drink, watching everyone of their moves.
My group had been acting weird ever since they found me. They were silent.
Too silent.
They were tense.
Too tense.
They were plain driving me crazy.
Too crazy.
I watched as they seemed to be communicating through their eyes.
Or.......
I gasped pushing back in my seat. They all looked at me. Only Chance was absent since he was currently talking with an adult about Night Academy.
I knew what these people were hiding.
I looked at Carol accusingly.
"Why didn't you tell me you were all already connected?" I said calmly, like in a second I was about to explode.
They all shrank back a bit.
This whole time they could speak through each other in their mind link and they didn't bother to tell me?
It wasn't they part about they mind link that made me mad, it was that they had seemed to fail to mention it.
I was shaking a bit, really wanting to shift.
Even right now I knew that this was a stupid matter to get mad about, but I guess I was just trying to release my anger about the whole 'my secret is known throughout the whole school because of a certain hated teacher.'
I stood up so quickly, I almost knocked the table over. That got me some unwanted attention.
I looked at all of them in disgust. I'm just mad okay! That's why I'm going to leave and prevent further fighting.
Turning around I began my stomping out of there.
Dramatic? Yes.
Do I care? No.
I could feel my wolf begging to come out. My eyes were slowly shifting colors, from blue to black. I knew this from experience that whenever I got mad, my eyes would turn coal black.
I just wanted to be left alone.
Breaking a wall wasn't enough. I felt the strange need to.......hurt something.
I shook my head.
No, bad Eva!
Don't hurt anything! I chanted in my head knowing that I would regret hurting something later.
Let's just say I was still mad.
Mad at Garson.
Mad at Megan.
Mad at the damn wound in my shoulder that was hurting really bad right right.
Like it was burning. Like someone had put a hot iron on a open wound.
I threw open the door, whispering coming form behind me, and so many eyes piercing through my skull that I had a major headace.
That was around the time when I began sweating, the room becoming hotter and hotter. But I guess it was me since no one else was experiencing this.
My head was acing like a brick was being thrown inside. My shoulder was burning like a hot rock on skin. My temper was increasing really quickly. My insides were ticking. Ready to explode any second.
What was wrong with me? What was with my black eyes that made even me becoming afraid of myself?
I was about to exit, my neck twitching.
I was loosing control. I have never lost control.
Then I felt something small touch my left forearm.
My head snapped to the small hand on my arm, a deep dangerous growl starting from my chest.
My black eyes began following the arm up to Carol's face.
My lip began twitching, some of my teeth barring.
God! I probably looked savage!
"Eva.....please calm down," Carol said looking sadly at me.
The whole lunchroom seemed tense, watching the event unravel.
My right hand shot up, grabbing Carol's hand that was on my left arm and holding her small wrist in my hand.
I pulled her closer, being nose to nose, though she was a lot shorter than me, and looked straight in her eyes.
Her fear was plain to see, her small eyes snapping back and forth to each of mine.
"Do. Not. Tell. Me. To. Calm. Down," I said dangerously low, my voice didn't even sound like mine!
"P....Please E..Eva.....your hurting my hand," Carol whimpered, and I was positive that it wouldn't bruise or be broken.
I let her hand go, she immediately cradled it to her chest looking at my face in fear.
"W....what's wrong Eva?" she said her face full of horror.
I stopped my growling, my lip stopped twitching, and a smile appeared on my face.
I was positive I had gone crazy.
"What's wrong?" I said coming closer to her. She, amazingly, didn't back away though it took a lot because she was shaking in fear.
"What's wrong you ask?" I said again, my voice sound more and more sarcastic.
Why was I doing this?
What was going on!
My wolf can't even speak to me! She's just whimpering!
"Well, my dear Carol," I said smiling. I was most likely scarier than a clown, with my black eyes and shaking form. "I can give you a list of thing wrong with me right now!"
I stated all this considerably calmly, "First of all, this frickin' full moon is driving me crazy! I can't even speak my mind! My wolf is in there somewhere confused as hell! My head hurts, my shoulder burns, it was waaay to hot in here, and you small voice is driving me mad!"
The whole lunchroom was quick listening to me. Carol seemed taken aback, her eyes wide.
I looked at all the people, my eyes narrowed making them quickly look away and quietly whispering.
Satisfied, I smiled once more, meeting Carol face to face.
"And you ask 'what's wrong'," I mocked.
That was it! It was a full moon!
But......why am I acting like this.
I grabbed onto the wall to stop me from falling down. All my pain was coming back, nausea making my head spin like I had just spun in circles.
What I found funny was that I wasn't the only one having an effect.
I saw Will walk in the cafeteria, he had to help with some things Tommy had asked him to do, and he looked just as bad as me.
His eyes were black, his body looked as if it was over heating, and he had a hand on his head.
Though we weren't the only ones. Some people I saw dropped to the floor, moaning in pain, grabbing their heads having the same effects.
I began hyperventilating, my eyes wide as I had no clue what was happening.
My vision was dimming, small black splotchs blocking some things. I saw people getting us, confuse on what was happening, though all of us seemed to have the strength to growl at them.
I kept blinking, trying to keep my breathing straight, even if I was in a lot more pain than a bullet would cause.
I felt someone touch my right hand that was digging slowly into the wall, and I was about to snap. My head was pounding against my skull, like a sub woofer.
Boom. Head pain.
Boom. Shoulder pain.
Boom. Too hot in here.
I looked up at Will, who was trying to make his way to me, grabbing onto the wall.
The room felt like it was spinning, and we were being pushed against the wall.
Will came near me, and I don't know why only some people were affected, but I let Will near me. I didn't know why I didn't snap.
Maybe because he was feeling my pain? Minus the shoulder wound.
He grabbed the back of my neck, my left hand wrapping slowly around his wrist not to push him off though. He pressed our foreheads together, and somehow some of my headache went away but it didn't stop the pain.
He closed his eyes and breathed in out, trying to control his body like me.
I mimicked him, closing my eyes and breathing in and out.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Oh screw this! This isn't working!
I tried to pull away, my voice didn't seem to be working at the moment, but Will's grip on the back on my neck was like iron.
Then an announcement came on.
And to my pleasure the noise increased my pain, and I couldn't help but whimper.
I heard the others who were also affected by whatever whimper in pain too, along with Will. I squeezed his wrist in a comforting manner.
His jaw was clenched, as he nodded, his forehead rubbing against mine as he opened his eyes.
We were currently leaning against the wall, kind of holding each other so we wouldn't fall to the ground like the others which I was grateful for.
He was like my anchor.
"Attention students! This is not a drill! All students currently experiencing pain please exit the building! Meet in the back of the school! All students not experiencing pain please meet in the cafeteria! Again! This is not a drill," the announcement lady said.
Wow! Can she be any more boring?
And I felt a little shock of pain.
I opened my eyes, watching as Will tried to stand his black eyes widening as he grabbed my right hand pulling me along with him.
I noticed that most of the students were in the middle of the cafeteria as all the students 'in pain' were laying on the floor trying to get up to exit the building.
Goo thing I had Will or I would have already passed out.
Will began running, like our lives depended on it, which I guess it did right now.
My wolf began helping me run too, going faster by the second.
In minutes we burst through the exit door in the back of the building, my pain was decreasing but still hurt like hell.
In seconds we fell to the floor, and I saw that we weren't the only ones.
I began breathing like I just came up from water, all signs of pain leaving my body.
I sighed, rolling onto my left side facing Will, both of us breathing like crazy. The slow wind outside was cooling my body, and my headache was leaving.
Thank you God!
"W.....Will," I said breathlessly. My shoulder wound was still hurting, but I felt my eyes slowly change back to normal.
"Yo......you okay?" Will said, running his hand down the side of my face before dropping it.
I nodded and turned to my back looking at the night sky.
All the pain seemed to leave my body like it never came. I didn't even want to think about it anymore.
"I......isn't the sky just....wow,'' Will said his eyes back to there normal color as we both starred at the sky.
I watched the twinkling lights up above, the cool night air blowing my hair a little.
"Yeah," I muttered, taking one last deep breathe.
"What do yo..." Will began to ask but was cut off.
"Everyone, please sit up," Tommy's voice said.
Normally I wouldn't obey, but seeing the dude in the robe next to him made me wonder what was going on.
Will and I sat up, Will's back on the side on the building, and I lay my head against his chest.
Other students taking large breaths slowly got up, leaning against the building. There was about 9 of us, and I was the only girl.
"Wh....what happen to us?" a boy asked breathlessly.
Tommy opened his mouth to talk, but the monk dude cut him off.
"You have been chosen," he stated.
"Chosen?" I muttered under my breathe.
His attention snapped to me as he gasped a little.
"Oh my......she is a female........females are rare..." he said in awe.
God! I just want to know what's happening.
"Do you want to explain what's happening?" a voice that was silky smooth, though it sounded restrained said.
Who was that?
"Oh....oh yes.....you are the chosen.....you were chosen you be great leaders in your pack.....you are meant to protect your 'Night Pack' as warriors and Alpha," he said in awe.
"Why pain?" the voice asked again. It as so husky and smooth though very masculine.
I sat up looking for the speaker, but my vision was still blurred and it was dark outside.
"My brothers and I...," he began, "cast a spell on your school.....all leaders must feel the pain in order to signify your strength......all of you have the chance to become Alpha for your new pack," he looked at everyone in the eyes, his eyes lingering on me, ".....that will be shown after you have completed your training.....tonight you will all be joined as one pack," he said.
That seemed understandable.
Though my brain was begging for the monk to ask a question so the velvet voice could answer at least once more.
"The spell has been undone.....you may go inside," he continued, "I will see you all in a couple hours for the acceptance ceremony."
And with that he left. Everyone got up, it was kind of awkward, and began walking back into the building.
No one said a word as we went to our dorms.
I guess we were all in shock.
