Chapter 20
Chapter 20
I couldn't be positively sure how many days passed by that I only caught small glimpses of Derek's face. Was I a terrible person for saying such cruel words to him?
I tried to see it from his point of view, which seemed to be quite difficult in my case. I didn't know how he felt, other than our long ago severed mate bond.
Why hadn't he gotten another mate? Was he waiting for me this entire time? Was he expecting me to accept him and leave Will?
Me? Hooking up with Will? As if! I would never just sleep with a man, I had a lot more dignity than that. I have my entire being to the love of my life.
We made love, we didn't "hook up"!
I shook my head, repeatedly banging my head on the table in front of me
Life was so frustrating! Why couldn't I just have Will and be thrown into paradise for the rest of my life?
I was thankful Will wasn't present as of right now because the repeated head banging was actually starting to help clear my head.
That had always been one of my stress relievers. Pain canceled out other emotions.
It was quite effective, if I do say so myself.
My mate, as of now, was conducting a quick meeting with some of the scouts and preparing "war" plans.
I was most definitely not interested in mere conversation, for I was only looking forward to battle day.
Stopping my constant banging of my cranium on the tabletop, I slowly rose up and thought I'd take a quick survey of my surroundings.
The forest we were submerged in was, all in all, a very beautiful scene of how mystical nature could be.
The sun was on the horizon, painting the sky in vivid colors and hues of pink, yellow, and blue. It was a magnificent sight to behold, I just wish our world would be as peaceful as the sky one day.
My footsteps led me through camp, the various nature colors of tents on display. Everyone was up and about, some cooking meals on fire and laughing, others just mingling about. Their tones hushed a few notches, and most eyes came to land on me as I walked by.
I didn't like this. The feeling of how they were still confused about my entire situation, but they respected me enough not to utter a word.
I didn't wish for my pack to be terrified of me, but it's not like I could do anything to solve this little dilemma.
"My lady," one of the members greeted me formally.
I cracked a smile, fascinated that someone had the courtesy to speak to me.
"Yo," I greeted him.
The puzzlement on his face made me laugh out loud since he was not expecting that.
The other pack members simply watched in silent curiosity.
"How do you do?" The confused man with a light English accent asked me.
I rolled my eyes, a smile plastered on my face. I wasn't anti-social. I was just hard to get through too.
"I am extremely and for sure bored out of my mind," I told him honestly, "What about you? How goes it, my loyal subject?"
I don't believe he realized that I was pulling his strings.
"OF COURSE HE DOESN'T, YOU FOOL!" My little Brain whisper yelled in my head. "YOU ACT LIKE YOU GOT A LARGE WOODEN PIPE UP YOUR A$$!"
I considered his words with a lot of thought, mentally cringing since he happen to be right.
"I always am sweetcheeks, get used to it," he declared to me once more.
You're going to hell, Brain. Where you will be forever cursed to annoy the Devil himself.
"Then I'mma take my baby g with me. You can meet Satan yourself, Hun. We can set up some dates to have tea and biscuits with him. I heard he is marvelous company," Brain informed me.
I was blown away at this point. Screw the day my mind grew it's own conscience.
"My lady, are you alright?" The man I had been speaking to asked in a whisper as he waved a hand in front of my face.
"I'm fine, I just needed to discuss my flight arrangements to the Devil's house with my Brain. Don't mind me. As you were saying?" I said sweetly, making it no big deal.
Some of the pack members chuckled, while others remained serious, as if I has actual communication with Evil.
As if! Would I be here if I could talk to evil?
No, I don't think so. They would keep me so much more entertained than I was right now.
Hmmm....evil. Dr. Evil.
I had a sudden flashback of the time me and Ethan had sat on the couch and watched Austin Powers do his mojo.
Good times, good times.
I sighed, shaking my head as I had lost track of reality once more.
"My lady, would you care to join my friends and I for some supper?" He tried once more to catch my interest as he pointed to the group that had been laughing earlier.
"Oh! I'd be honored," I walked with him towards the crowd. "What's your name, kind sir who offered me food?"
He let a small smile appear as he answered, "Harry, my lady."
"Yo, Harry. Since we're on first name basis, please refer to me as Eva. Drop the lady, and I promise not to say Potter after your first name," I told him in all seriousness.
"Of course my- I mean, of course Eva," he finally let down his guard and introduced me to his friends.
They all seemed like a happy bunch, and no matter how relaxed they finally felt with me, I couldn't say the same.
I wanted to enjoy myself, and I tried as hard as I could.
They continued on with their bizarre stories and I would zone in and out, still engulfed by my own thoughts.
"Alpha Eva?" One of the girls in the group asked in a small voice. All conversation died down in an instant.
She seemed like a girl a few years older than me, 21ish, with red hair and freckles. She seemed slightly timid when it came to being social, the the muscles in her arms proves otherwise.
"Yes?" I questioned from my position in one of the chairs, my hands folded since I had previously been in deep thought.
I was curious as to what she wanted to ask since everyone was watching us with beading eyes.
"I was just wondering...um...how...you and the Alpha met?!" She went from a whisper to a question, trying to get it out of her system.
Everyone had a expression of horror like, how dare she ask that?
I gave a small sincere smile as I recalled the day Will and I had met.
The sun had gone down, and the only light was from the fire we were all huddled around. The soft glow illuminated everyone's face.
"Well, that little troublemaker, to start off with, was very liked by many people. I don't even know what he saw in me, to be completely honest. He was always sarcastic and played pranks until one day I had decided to join him in his devious acts. We started off well, and over time we had grown closer. He was the most humorous, mischievous, and sweetest guy I had ever met," I told her in complete honesty. Everyone was listening intently, so I didn't want to go too in detail.
"Oh, and not to mention he was a major H.O.T.T.I.E!" I laughed with them at my teenage girl voice impersonation.
"You skipped a lot of the good parts, actually. See she was this hard headed girl, that took no sh!t from a single living soul," Will declared appearing out of nowhere, smiling as he looked down at me.
"Oh please! Don't be such a..," he had already cut me off, lifted me out of my seat, sat in MY seat, then pulled me into his lap in 5 seconds flat.
"You have no idea how hard it was to get this woman to even glance at me," he told the group. They were all clustered together, listening to our love tale.
His arms were wrapped around me, my back against his warm chest as he would kiss the side of my temple.
"She was a strange one, I'll tell you that. Strong, funny, and she was absolutely defiant. Not to mention, beautiful beyond compare," as he spoke, I felt my heart do little backflips in my chest.
It was nice to hear him say these things out loud.
"Really, she is to this day, the same beauty that had robe me of my heart. Everywhere, males laid their eyes on her," he growled the last part," but she didn't even notice. She didn't know of how enchanting she was, how it was impossible not to lust over someone as talented as her. I was glad to at least be able to make her laugh."
He said everything from the heart, and I felt this wasn't just our love story anymore. He was talking to me. His heart was speaking to me.
"He didn't even know how much I actually paid attention to him, I mean he was literally a handsome God, sent to spite all men. I don't think I ever had a thought that didn't involve molesting him somehow," I confused even myself at the end, only to have everyone burst out laughing.
Will chuckled, holding me tighter to him, his rumbling of his chest from his laughter tickled my sides.
"Anyway! You know, I fell for this sucker over here, gave him my heart and all, and bam! Here we are!" I rushed out to say.
"Actually, she let me make love to her under the full moon, when all the stars were shinning. But none of them shown as bright as she did that night," his eyes bore into mine, the dark shade of them causing me to be awed.
As he said his words, I realized that I was actually blushing at his revelation! He told everyone present, a lot more people had came, what we had done, and I never regret what we did, I just found it embarrassing to say it out loud. This was sure to spread by tomorrow.
As the crowds awed and commented on how romantic it was, I couldn't rip my gaze away from Will.
He just starred into my eyes with such intense love, I could help smiling as he pressed his lips softly against mine.
I was puzzled as to why he said the last part when a figure suddenly pulled away from the crowd in a run towards the forest.
I was confused as to why until I saw Will looking at the figure with slight satisfaction.
I felt the tinge of pain in my heart as I recognized that the figure must have been Derek. And he had to hear and see all of that.
Now it all made sense.
Will just used our love to prove a point to his brother.
I quickly rose up, looking at William with terror in my eyes.
How could he?
No! How dare he!
I rushed away from him. From him. The crowd. From everything.
"Sh!t just got serious," muttered Brain.
"Eva! What's wrong, my love?" Will asked alarmed as he chased after me.
Once his arm touched mine, I recoiled back in disgust.
"Don't you dare touch me, William!" I snapped at him, making his eyes go wide.
"Eva, love, what's wro..." I cut him off.
"No, Will! I will not play this game with you!" I yelled at him, rage coming off me in waves. "I can't believe you just did that! Right in front of me, for crying our loud!"
I was frustrated, confused with emotion.
"Did what? Eva, please I beg of you, do not be upset, what is wrong with me talking about our love?" He asked me.
My face drained of emotion as I starred at his face hard.
I am not stupid.
"Don't you dare use me against Derek ever again! You only said that to make him angry! What is wrong with you! Is my undying love not enough for you? You have to stoop to main your own brother jealous? I picked you over him! And yet you play me into a sick game!" I yelled it all, causing attention from everywhere.
His eyes darkened,"Eva it's not like that."
I glared at him hard,"I need a run. Don't make me regret my decision, William. Maybe I was wrong. Maybe you did change."
With that, I turned around and ran towards the direction Derek had ran. Even I would have never used such a devious method to make anyone jealous.
It was too cold.
Maybe I really didn't know Will.
