Chapter 2
"So, you're Papyrus? I'm-"
"Mettaton!" He yelled. I was a bit shocked at the enthusiasm in his voice. "I'm such a big fan! I used to watch your show everday in the Underground! Wowie! I can't believe I, the Great Papyrus, am standing face to face with the fabulous Mettaton!" His words were very rushed. I could tell he meant well, but his excitement was somewhat frightening.
I cleared my throat. "That would be me, darling! I must say, it is so nice to meet a fan up here. Especially one so charming~" It was pretty exciting to meet someone who recognized me, not just a human giving me strange looks. Of course the flirting was just that. I looked over to see Toriel smiling at the smaller skeleton.
"Hey, you guys wanna hear a joke?" Sans asked with a smug look, and Toriel sat up in anticipation.
"Sans, nooooooo!" Papyrus groaned rubbing his forehead.
"Knock knock."
"Who's there?" Toriel continued sweetly.
"A broken pencil."
"A broken pencil who?"
"Nevermind." Toriel and I shared a confused glance before he continued, "It's pointless!" Papyrus groaned, but Toriel erupted with laughter. It was as if it was the best joke she had heard in years. She faded out of the laugh into a bright smile.
"Okay, I got one. Why did the elephant cross the road?"
"Alright, why did the elephant cross the road?"
"It was the chicken's day off!" They both started cracking up, meanwhile Papyrus looked like he was about to explode. It was obvious what I needed to do.
"Oh, Papyrus~" I got the taller one's attention. "May I talk to you? In private?" I pulled him to a separate table, a good distance away.
"So, my dear friend Toriel has been slightly...worked up since we settled down here on the surface. Mostly work, and bills, and such." He nodded in confused agreement. "Well, she seems to be getting along pretty well with your brother-"
"Sans."
"Yes, him. Anyway, I was thinking that we could possibly, maybe, attempt to...um...get them...together." I twiddled my metal fingers together awkwardly. His confused expression changed into a more understanding one.
"Nyeh heh heh! Do not worry! For I, the Great Papyrus, am an expert on matchmaking!" He gave an adorable, confident smile. The plan is in motion...
