Attack!!!
Sorry on short the last chapter was, this one will be longer. Thanks for triple digits reads guys!
----------------------------------------------
I flew under a fat, white dragon with blood-shot eyes and small pupils. It was twice the size of Lake, bulky, and uncoordinated. Ugly and un-majestic, the exact opposite of what a dragon should be. The dragon frantically clawed its small nails in the air to gain height. I dodged the sharp black claws twice, jabbing my swords at his hands and chest in the process.
All around sounds of battle rang out in the air, sword against claw, as the other dragons had no riders, only computer chips in their heads.
I managed to get a clean shot at the white dragons chest. I plunged my sword in, lurching out of the way to avoid being taken down. Just as the white dragon fell into the storm cloud below, another huge, jet black dragon with yellow eyes took his place. This dragon was obviously more advanced. He had an aerodynamic body, but was a lot longer than Lake. His arms were tucked under his chest, the way they taught us in flying school, and his tail was balancing him in the gusty air.
His only weakness was his eyesight. I noticed right away he was squinting and kept taking two seconds too long to dodge my attacks. After a short fight, I flew over to my dad.
"Dad, I think we need to get back to the island, I have a feeling something is happening. I've only fought a fat dragon and a blind dragon. They must have sent their good ones to the mainland." I motioned all around us.
"I mean, look at these so called dragons." He took a second to see what I saw.
"Your right.'' he nodded.
"Everyone to the mainland unless you're almost finished with your fight or can't get out of it!" He yelled, cupping his hands around his mouth.
"We're not retreating, are we?" One of dad's friends asked.
"No, we sense it's a trap," My dad started.
"The sent their good ones to the main land and their cripples to us to separate us from the island." I finished for him.
We were right. Killian Island was under attack, with people and dragons running, flying, and fighting. Anyone whom knew how to fly, even a little, was in the air. After seeing hurt children cowering in the midst of the fight, Pinch and I volunteered to herd all the kids and babies away from the street. Most of the children were already huddled in alley ways, houses, and broken buildings.
I instructed the older kids to take the toddlers to the east side dragon nursery, away from the city. I flew half of the the babies over to the nursery first, staddling them to Lake's back, and Pinch flew the other half, along with an injured toddler.
We dropped them off at the nursery. I left to meet the older kids who were walking. Pinch stayed behind to watch over the babies. I spotted them in the field, smart enough to hide in the shelter of a grove of trees.
"Climb on!" I motioned for them to get on the dragon. Many were scared, for some it was their first time on a dragon. we rushed back to the nursery, luckily we had not spotted any enemy dragons.
The oldest children were 8 and 7. There were five 8 years olds and three 7 year olds. We put them in charge, bandaged up the injured toddler, and flew back to battle. I spotted Ulysses, Flick, and Colin fighting next to the city hall
Flick and Ulysses, being twins, had identical dragons. Both were almost Lake's size, about two feet longer, and were super fast. That's why Flick's was named Bullet and Ulysses was named Bolt They both were silver with black streaks running down their sides and blue eyes.
Colin's, named Kayak, was a dark blue with green streaks, similar to the streaks on Bullet and Bolt. Kayak was even smaller than Lake, and was full grown! She was a type of dragon called "the bee dragon".
"Hey guys." I turned my attention to the fight.
"Need help?" I asked.
"Yeah, sure, the café is under attack." Colin answered as she impaled a dragon. They all were guardians, but had only been promoted after they brought me back. They also were actually 13, not 11. Thats why there were sent, because they looked my age, but were more experienced.
Pinch and I closed in on the café. Boy, it looked rough. The entire roof had been ripped off, the windows were smashed, tables over turned, and glass all over the floor. We flew in just in time to see a huge gold dragon backing a little girl into the corner.
Authors note:
Lake up top! Just imagine that a little smaller! I'll post pictures of the rest of the dragons soon.
