'WATER ISNT ALWAYS GENTLE. IT CAN BE USED TO DROWN PEOPLE IN ITS VICIOUS RAPIDS.'
•
I do not own Legend Of Korra or The Last Airbender, all credit goes to the people who made the two happen. I only own Kanna and the things I happen to make up along the way. Most of the script comes from the person who created it. Descriptions come from the show I've watched and the things I've read.

Kanna Kya
•
A seventeen-year-old Korra, who is wearing red armor with blue eyes, tan skin, and brown hair, quickly kicks two fire blasts toward a man wearing the same armor. The man raises his arms in protection, but he is still sent flying and crashes to the ground. Kanna ooh's and says loudly, "That has got to hurt!"
As Korra lands, two men, wearing the same armor as well, simultaneously shoot fire streams at her. Korra is engulfed in a ball of flames, but she dissipates the fire by moving her hands in a circular motion. As she takes on a fighting stance again, one of the men charges her, shooting three fire blasts at the Avatar, but she dodges the first one, dissipates the second with a grunt, dodges the third, and rushes forward. When the man jumps up and sends two fire arcs in her direction, Korra tumbles underneath the flames, and extends her leg, throwing him off balance.
He flips over several times and crashes to the ground, but manages to stand up right away. Kanna starts to laugh hysterically at this, holding her stomach. "You totally got this, Korra!"
Korra, now in between the two men, catches the fire stream of the man in front of her head-on, while she also kicks back the guy that was charging her from behind, knocking him down. Retaliating with fire blasts of her own, she manages to knock down the fire bender. Quickly turning back and forth to defend herself against incoming fire blasts from both men, she powers up her own attack and fires it at the man in front of her, sending him flying all the way up a nearby triangular roof of a small building near the training grounds, where he slides down unconscious, leaving a trail of smoke.
An elderly Katara and four members of the Order of the White Lotus, one dressed in red, and Kanna are watching the fight happen. Kanna has a huge smirk on her face. She whistles and claps her hands.
"Go Korra! Kick their sorry little butts!" She yells. The other five people send her a look to be quiet. She scratches the back of her head with a sheepish smile. "Sorry?" She says as if she's asking a question. Katara shakes her head, still surprised at how this girl is so much like Sokka and how on earth Sokka actually bedded Suki to have a child at their age. She watches Kanna, an eighteen-year-old girl, who starts to throw a boomerang and catches it when it comes back. Kanna's braided brown hair reaches her waist, brown eyes sparkling in amazement. Her water tribe clothes fit her snugly.
"She's strong," Katara tells the people standing beside her. Pride is clearly in her voice.
"She lacks restraint." The white lotus leader states dismayed. Kanna snorts and gazes at the man.
"What did you expect? She's been this way since she was little." Memories of Korra fighting years ago flashes in her mind. Korra has always been a bit reckless when fighting. "You can try to teach her control, but she'll just go against it."
The last firebender charges towards Korra while showering her with a fire stream. She runs toward the individual, smiling confidently. Kanna smirks and stops playing with her boomerang to watch. Korra runs straight into the fire blast, parts it, and pushes the man's arms apart, effectively stopping his bending. She uses him as a step-up to propel herself into the air. From her elevated position, she kicks a fire arc in the bender's direction and proceeds to shower him with a powerful fire stream as she descends.
The man tries to block but is thrown backward, where he sags down and slowly falls on his back with a light groan in defeat, smoking lightly.
Korra raises her hands in triumph. "Woohoo!" Korra happily runs up to the people that were watching her. Kanna high-fives her as she nears Korra. "Hey, why all the doom and gloom, people?" Korra removes her helmet, noticing the unfazed looks on the spectators.
One of her opponents recovers slowly in the background. Kanna winces while watching him struggle. She finally wonders over, opening a water bottle, and starts to heal his injuries with her water bending. Something Katara taught her to do. "We should be celebrating!" Korra cheers, confidently raise three fingers. "Three elements down," holds one finger up, "one to go!"
"You're getting ahead of yourself, as usual, Korra. We haven't decided if you passed your firebending test yet." The fire bender master scolds her with a serious tone. Kanna finishes healing up the one man and goes to heal the rest of Korra's opponents. Katara watches her slightly impressed that Kanna has been doing so well with water bending. She smiles softly as she sees herself in the young girl.
"Ever since you were a little girl, you've excelled at the physical side of bending, but completely ignored the spiritual side. The Avatar must master both." The white lotus leader hisses. Korra fake yawns already bored out of her mind. Kanna snickers and stops healing to watch the interaction.
"I haven't ignored it, it just doesn't come as easy to me," Korra says a little sadly. A smile suddenly breaks across her face. "But that's why I should start training with Tenzin immediately. He's Mister Spiritual." She emphasizes the last sentence. Kanna ambles towards the group and throws an arm around Korra's shoulder.
"Tenzin is all about spiritual things. He always likes 'meditate and find yourself in your soul.'" Kanna mockingly closes her eyes, pretending to be meditating. "If anyone can make Korra interact with her spiritual side, it's him." Korra nods her head rapidly as to agree. The spectators eye the duo nervously. The white lotus leader glances at Katara.
"Do you believe she's ready, Master Katara?" He inquires. Katara smiles.
"Yes. If anyone can teach her what she needs to learn, it's Tenzin." Katara winks at the duo. Kanna slightly giggles at her aunt.
"Very well, Korra. It's time for you to begin your airbending training." The white lotus leader tells her. Korra jumps around while squealing in happiness and excitement. Kanna grabs her hand and joins in.
"Yes! Finally!" They cheer in unison. They suddenly realize that the elders are watching Korra, some of them with a dismayed expression. Korra's happy look changes to a serious one. Kanna bites her lip to hold in her laughter as she releases Korra's hands.
"I mean," she clears her throat and respectfully clasps her hands together and bows, "thank you all for believing in me." Kanna turns away, placing a hand over her twitching mouth. Korra backs away slowly before bolting to the stables where Naga, her polar bear, is sleeping.
"Kanna." Kanna gives the elders her full attention. The white lotus leader gives her a stern look. "We expect you to be working on your water bending instead of encouraging Korra's behavior." She bows in apology to them.
"I'm very sorry. I'll go work on it now." Kanna spins on her heel and leaves to the inside water lake for her to practice. She sits beside the water, swirling her finger in it. A sigh emits from her mouth. She stands up and gets into a stance, her one leg in front of her and the other behind her as she bends her knees and starts to circle her arms above her head. The water in the lake slowly rises with her movements. She continues to focus on the water before turning and slamming it into a dummy on the sidelines. She watches as the force of the water makes the dummy go flying out of the open window.
She gazes back at the water. She pulls her hand towards her which causes some of the water to follow the movement. She spins with the water surrounding her like a cocoon. She shots her hands up, causing the water to nail the roof. She gently lowers her hands down and begins to wave her hand back and forth like a wave. The water follows her movements. She watches as the water begins to have a white glow to it. She smiles, clenching her fists to form an ice dome around the lake. She melts the ice and turns the dome into a giant bubble.
"You're getting better." Kanna jumps and loses focus on the water. She watches as the water drops still in the lake. Katara places a hand on Kanna's shoulder. "Did you know you were named after mine and Sokka's grandmother?" She asks. Kanna shakes her head no. "Our grandmother was brave, strong, caring, and a leader. She took us in and raised us when our father left and our mother died." Katara smiles softly. "You remind me so much of Sokka." She whispers. Kanna freezes and her hand instinctively goes to the boomerang attached to her hip. She trails her thumb over the smooth surface. "He would've been so proud of you."
"Why did he get you to place me in an iceberg? Why? I could've been with him when he died, I could be Tenzin's age now with children of my own, but instead, I was locked away into an iceberg until Korra was found." Kanna gazes at Katara with tears in her eyes. "My mother left when I was seven because she claimed she taught me everything she knew. Where is she now? Is she still alive or is she dead too? Who the hell knows since she vanished!" Kanna's body trembled with sobs. Katara pulls her in a tight hug.
"Your questions will be answered soon enough. You must be patient." Katara states. Kanna nods her head shakily. They release one another. Kanna breaths in slowly and makes the water form a shield. "I feel that something is going to happen soon and it deals with the avatar. Protect Korra."
"With my life," Kanna vows.
•
Kanna watches Korra leave the gates on Naga's back. She turns and picks up her white arctic fox, Lee. She cuddles him to her chest. Katara stands beside her. The two turn their gazes to the air where a flying bison is seen overhead.
Ikki and Jinora excitedly jump off the bison, riding off its tail on air scooters. Tenzin descends from his bison, as Katara walks up to him with Kanna.
"Hello, Mother. Hello cousin." Tenzin holds his right arm in front of his chest as a way of greeting, with Meelo on his shoulders, pulling his father's ears. His daughters pull up on both his sides, with Ikki jerking his arm. "I can't tell you how happy I am to see you. Please, help me." The last sentence is filled with desperation.
Katara laughs warmly as Tenzin bows to allow her to take Meelo off his shoulders and into her arms. Kanna sets Lee down and hugs Tenzin.
"Don't worry, we'll help with the little ones." Kanna tells him before looking at Ikki and Jinora. The younger girls immediately tackle her in hugs. Ikki bends down and pets Lee. Jinora stares at Katara in awe.
Meelo starts to frantically wave his limbs. "Unhand me, strange woman!" He yells.
"That's your grandmother, Meelo." Tenzin says with a sigh. Having three kids is wearing him down.
Meelo nimbly pushes off on Katara's hand, who looks surprised and somersaults above her head, landing on the ground behind her. He quickly dashes out from behind her, while Katara's expression changes from utter surprise to a loving smile. Kanna stands beside Katara, gazing at her cousins.
"It's so good to see all of you." Katara tells them.
"Gran Gran, I've been reading all about your old adventures. I've been dying to ask you: What happened to Zuko's mom?" Jinora questions with her hands clasped in front of her.
"Well, Jinora, it's an incredible tale--" Katara begins to say. She is interrupted by Ikki, who jumps right in between Katara and Jinora. Kanna shoulders shake slightly from the laughter she holds in.
"Gran Gran, you look old. How old are you? And why is it so cold in the South Pole? Can we make a campfire, and all huddle around it, and tell scary stories, and make snowmen? And then can you make the snowmen move with waterbending and chase us? Wouldn't that be fuuun? Huh?" Ikki talks really fast while jumping up and down in excitement. Katara just stares at the girl, not sure how to deal with her energy. Jinora lowers her head in shame, while Tenzin notices Pema slowly sliding down the bison's tail, and walks over to her. Tenzin catches Pema's hands as she reaches the ground.
"Pema, let me help you. Careful now, careful." Tenzin helps his pregnant wife walk the first few steps, until she retracts her hand with an annoyed look on her face.
"Stop doting on me. I'm not helpless, I'm just pregnant." She hisses. Both Tenzin and Pema lay their hands on her protruding belly. Katara walks up to her, and gives her a hug. She lays her hand in Pema's stomach.
"The baby's strong. I see another airbender in your future." Katara says. Suddenly, Pema's face becomes slightly unhappy.
"All I want is one child like me, a nice non-bender, who doesn't blast wind in my face every five seconds." Pema says gloomy.
Pema darts an irritated look at Meelo as he calls her attention.
"Mommy, look!" Meelo has covered himself completely in snow, before suddenly blasting it off himself using airbending; excitedly. "I'm a snowbender!"
Pema's head becomes covered in snow. Shaking her head rapidly to remove it, leaving her hair in a mess and points at her husband.
"Were Tenzin and his siblings this crazy when they were kids?" She asks.
"Kya and Bumi certainly were, but Tenzin has always been ... rather serious." Katara replies back. Kanna starts to build a snowman with Ikki and Meelo.
"Mother, please." Tenzin states with a slight pout to his face. Katara smiles at her son. Korra stands a few meters behind her, calmly waiting with her hands behind her back. Tenzin finally notices her.
"Korra? Look at you, so big and strong. You've grown into quite the young Avatar." Tenzin praises Korra while his hands lay on her shoulders. Kanna lets out a yelp when Meelo decides to use air bending to make her fly. Ikki waves goodbye to her figure. Jinora face palms and Pema's mouth drops in horror. Kanna quickly turns the snow into water and bends it to catch her, setting her gently down onto the ground. She glares darkly at Meelo who shrieks and bolts away from her. She chases after him, pelting him with snowballs. Ikki claps her hands together in excitement.
"Master Tenzin, I'm so glad you're here. I can't wait to get started." Korra fist bumps the air.
"Yes, well..." He sighs.
"You're going to have to tell her sooner or later." Pema tells Tenzin.
"Tell me what?" Korra's behavior immediately becomes sadden.
"You're not staying, are you?" Katara asks, smile dropping.
"I'm afraid not. We're only visiting for the night. Then I have to return to Republic City." Kanna notices the conversation turning south and takes the three kids inside.
"Kanna! Can you show us some of your water bending?" Ikki and Meelo beg her. Kanna playfully taps her chin.
"Let's see...what can I do?" She thinks aloud before smirking. She waves her hand and three water figures form beside her. Lee rushes towards a radio and puts on some water tribe music. Kanna and the water figures begin to perform a graceful dance, exchanging blows with one another. They shot water back and forth, doing flips and somersaults in the air while creating water balls. Kanna annihilates them just as the music ends. She bows to the clapping children.
"AGAIN AGAIN!" The children squeal. Kanna decides to make a water dragon and makes it fly around the room before 'eating' the children. She laughs wholeheartedly as she sees the soaked kids. Jinora looks annoyed, Ikki is laughing and Meelo is rolling around on the ground. Water drips down their faces while their clothes stick to their bodies.
"THAT WAS SO COOL!" Ikki shouts with her hands in the air.
•
The bison grunts and pushes off, Tenzin and his family leaving. Katara follows its ascent, wiping a tear from her left eye. Korra is perched atop Naga on a mountain top as Oogi flies past them. Kanna and Lee lay beside them. They both follow the bison's path with their gazes, Naga and Lee whimpering softly.
"You have a plan, don't you?" Kanna inquiries, seeing the look in Korra's eyes. "Whatever it is, I'm in." Korra and Kanna clasp hands, smiling at one another.
"I always know I can count on you." Korra says. The two glance behind them to see the white lotus in the tower watching them closely.
•
Korra takes Naga's saddle that hangs on a pole, and starts to saddle up her mount. Kanna wraps Lee in a blanket and tucks him in her bag. As Korra is busy tightening the straps of the saddle, she is startled by a voice behind her.
"Nice night for an escape, isn't it?" Korra turns while standing up to see Katara in the doorway. Kanna gazes away, stroking Lee's head.
"I have to leave. I have to find my own path as the Avatar." Korra tells Katara in a sad voice.
"I know you do." Katara tells Korra with a gentle smile. Korra's look changes from a sad to a grateful one. She tilts her head and closes her eyes as a silent thank you.
"Aang's time has passed. My brother and many of my friends are gone." Kanna closes her eyes at the mention of Sokka. "It's time for you and your generation to take over the responsibility of keeping peace and balance in the world. I think you're going to be a great Avatar and Kanna, you're on your way to becoming a water bending master." Katara tells the two, walking towards them. Korra and Kanna hug her.
"Thank you." Korra mumbles to Katara. Kanna kisses her aunt's cheek.
"Goodbye, Korra. Goodbye, Kanna." Katara releases them. The two jump onto Naga's back, riding away.
•
Kanna waits for Korra to get finished with saying goodbye to her parents. She watches as Korra jumps to sit in front of her, taking hold of Naga reins. Kanna wraps her arms around Korra's waist.
"Are you okay?" Kanna inquiries.
"I'll be fine." Korra replies. "Kanna...are you just here because you were trained to protect me or are you here because you're my friend?" Kanna is taken back at the question.
"I'm here because I'm your friend and because I'm your friend, I'll protect you." Kanna answers. Korra smiles at the response.
•
Naga, Lee, Kanna and Korra are lying behind some crates on a ship that's heading to Republic City. Korra and Kanna both hear the doors opening.
"We're here!" Korra wakes up Naga as Kanna wakes up Lee. The two smile at each other.
Suddenly, Naga runs past the workers, Korra and Kanna mounted on her with Lee on Kanna's shoulder, much to the workers surprise.
"Thanks for the ride!" Korra shouts to worker Naga knocked over. Kanna happily waves to him. "Wow, look at this place. I've never seen so many Satomobiles!" Kanna climbs off with Lee.
"I'm going to go explode the city by myself. Send a fire ball into the sky if you need me." Kanna states and Korra nods. Kanna rushes off with Lee scurrying besides her. People give her funny looks because of her water tribe clothes. A blush creeps onto her face until horror strikes her. She has all the money in her picket which means Korra doesn't have any. She throws her head back and groans. Great, now Korra is going to get herself in trouble when she tries to take something without paying. She shakes her head and gazes at the sky. No fireball so Korra doesn't need her. Lee's nose sniffs the air and then the ground before he bolts in a different direction. Kanna lets out a surprised yelp and takes off after him.
"Lee! Lee! Bad boy! Wait!" She calls after him. Lee ignores her calls, running even faster now. Lee skids to a stop in front of a noodle place called, 'Narook's Seaweed Noodlery.' Her eye twitches as she gazes at the fox. "You wanted water tribe noodles." She says in disbelief. She sighs and picks Lee up, strolling into the place. Her eyes roam the homey restaurant, easily picking up on the happy and peaceful atmosphere surrounding the place. She is seated at a table and orders two bowls of seaweed noodles. Lee and her are quietly eating when three people come in, one being unusually loud.
"THE MATCH WENT AMAZING TODAY! I WAS LIKE 'BAM BAM' AND MAKO WAS LIKE 'SIZZ SIZZ' AND HASOOK WAS LIKE 'WOOSH WOOSH!'" The stocky boy with black hair and green eyes yells. He has a fire ferret sleeping on his shoulder. The other two boys- both having black hair, but one has golden eyes while the other has blue- rolls their eyes. Kanna raises her eyebrows at the eyebrows on the golden eye boy.
"I've never seen a fire ferret or eyebrows that weirdly shaped before." Kanna whispers to Lee. "How cute." She smiles softly, eyes staring at the small creature on the boy's shoulder. She turns back to eat her noodles. The golden eye boy notices the subtle glances the water tribe girl is giving the green eyes boy and nudges him, gesturing to Kanna with his head. The three males wonder over to her.
"HELLO! I AM BOLIN AND THIS IS PABU!" Bolin grabs the fire ferret and holds him in front of her face.
"He's such a cutie." She coos, stroking Pabu's chin. "Where did you get him? I've never seen a fire ferret in these parts of the world before." She says.
"Got him from a pet store." Bolin grins. "This is my brother, Mako and teammate, Hasook." He says pointing to the respected people.
"Teammate?" She inquires.
"We're the pro bending team, the Fire Ferrets!" Bolin tells her in excitement. Kanna only tilts her head to the side confused.
"Pro bending?" She asks. Bolin's eyes widen.
"You don't know what pro bending is?" He questions shocked.
"I'm sorry. I just arrived here from the southern water tribe today. I'm not caught up to the culture or tradition up here." She says apologetically. Mako slaps a hand over Bolin's mouth before he could talk the poor girl's ear off.
"Southern water tribe? Are you by chance a water bender?" Hasook questions. Kanna smiles and nods.
"Yeah! I learned from my aunt, Katara." Hasook gasps and stares at her with a dropped jaw. Mako and Bolin send Hasook a weird look, he's never acted like this before.
"The famous Katara?! You're related to her? That means..you're father is Sokka! I can't believe this." Hasook says in awe. "Can you do anything else besides water bending?" Immediately, Kanna looks away. "You can. What is it?" She shakes her head no.
"I can't tell you." She mumbles. She gets up and picks up Lee. "This is my fox, Lee. I must be going." She sets some money down on the table for the food and quickly leaves. Her bottom lip quivers and a tear slides across her cheek. "Oh Lee. I'll never use that bending again." She whispers. Suddenly, she sees Korra running away from the metal bender cops. She sweat drops. "What the hell did she do?" She hisses, rushing after Korra. Lee hides in Kanna's shirt as Kanna shots ice bullets at the people chasing Korra. She propels herself in the air with water and lands on Naga's back. She quickly freezes the ground behind them to slow down the cops. Kanna glances to see a metal bender still chasing after them from the roof tops. She forms an ice disk and throws it at him, watching as it hits him in the stomach and he drops.
"Thanks Kanna!" Korra tells her while making Naga go faster. Kanna sees one more metal bender and notices that they are on a bridge. She throws her hands up in the air and closes her fists. The water shots up and freezes, forming a column the size of a building. The man slams into it. She leans against Korra's back. That's when they got caught.
•
"Let's see. Multiple counts of destruction of private and city property, not to mention evading arrest... You're in a whole mess of trouble, young lady. And so is your friend for helping you escape from police." The old woman growls at the teenagers. Kanna sighs in boredom. Lee left to go get Tenzin so he could get the two out of here.
"But there were some thugs threatening a helpless shopkeeper, and I had it-" Korra begins to say.
"Can it!" The woman cuts her off. "You should have called the police and stayed out of the way." Kanna points to the woman and nods her head in agreement.
"I agree with the woman, Korra. You may be the avatar, but you don't need to be the hero all the time." Kanna says. Korra kicks her shins from under the table. Kanna hisses.
"But I couldn't just sit by and do nothing. It's my duty to help people. As Kanna said, I'm the Avatar." Korra tells the woman very smugly, a smile on her face. Kanna shakes her head and looks away.
"Oh, I am well aware of who you are. And your Avatar title might impress some people, but not me." The cop has her arms crossed over her best with an unimpressed look on her face. Kanna snorts.
"All right, fine. Then I want to talk to whoever's in charge." Korra sends a nasty look at the woman.
"You're talking to her already." Kanna informs. "This is Lin Beifong, chief of the cops, ex girlfriend of Tenzin and daughter of Toph." Lin gives her a look of surprise.
"YOU'RE TOPH'S DAUGHTER?!" Korra yells in shock.
"What of it?" Lin inquires.
"Well then, why are you treating me like a criminal? Avatar Aang and your mother were friends. They saved the world together." Korra says with amusement in her tone.
"That's ancient history. And it's got diddly-squat to do with the mess you're in right now. You can't just waltz in here and dole out vigilante justice like you own the place!" Lin slams her hands on the table. Lin, Kanna and Korra stare at each other.
"You obviously have never heard stories about the avatars then because that's how they all act." Kanna says. Korra kicks her again. One of the metalbending cops opens a peephole in the metal wall.
"Chief, Councilman Tenzin is here." The cop informs the trio. Kanna smirks seeing the white head of Lee peeking from behind the wall.
'Good boy.' Kanna mouths. Lee yips happily.
"Let him in." Lin says, straightening her back. Lin stands beside the table, putting her hands behind her back in a formal posture. The wall in front of Korra and Kanna slides aside to form a door through which Tenzin enters. Kanna lifts two fingers to wave at her cousin. Korra has a sheepish smile on her face.
"Tenzin....I got a little sidetracked on my way to see you." Korra laughs nervously.
"Lin, you are looking radiant as usual." Tenzin attempts to charm the woman.
"Womanizer." Kanna sing songs. Everyone in the room gives her a look. "I'll shut up."
"Cut the garbage, Tenzin. Why is the Avatar in Republic City? I thought you were supposed to be moving down to the South Pole to train her." Lin hisses through clenched teeth.
"My relocation has been delayed. The Avatar, on the other hand, will be heading back to the South Pole immediately, where she will stay put with her protector." Tenzin gazes at Korra and Kanna with a dismayed look.
"But-" Korra goes to protest.
"If you would be so kind as to drop the charges against Korra and Kanna, I will take full responsibility for today's regrettable events and cover all the damages." Tenzin says.
Lin glances over her shoulder toward Korra, who is looking down at the table. She then glances at Kanna, who wiggles her eyebrows at the woman. Lin turns back, sighs, and nonchalantly raises her left hand, opening the cuffs that were binding Korra's and Kanna's hands to the table.
"Fine. Get her out of my city." Lin says pointing at Korra, not saying anything about Kanna.
"Always a pleasure, Lin. Let's go, Korra, Kanna." Korra and Kanna follow Tenzin. Korra is still rubbing her wrists. As she passes Lin, both eye each other in discontent. Lin points with her index and pinkie at her eyes and back to Korra, glaring at her. Lin and Kanna stare at each other, understanding between the two.
Angered, Korra bends over and exaggeratedly and mockingly mimics Lin's gesture that she will keep an eye on her. Kanna shoves Korra out of the room before she could do anything else to make the situation worse.
"I'm sorry for the trouble we caused today." Kanna apologizes to Lin, bowing to show respect and leaves.
"Tenzin, please, don't send us back home." Korra pleads.
"We'll just find a way to come back here anyways. So why waste our time?" Kanna asks. Tenzin slaps the back of his cousin's head.
"You blatantly disobeyed my wishes and the orders of the White Lotus." He hisses at Korra before looking at Kanna. "And you are suppose to stop Korra from making dumb decisions!" Kanna gazes at her feet ashamed. Korra lays a gentle hand on her arm.
"Katara agreed with us that we should come. She said my destiny is in Republic City and Kanna needed to be with me." Korra tells Tenzin in a soft voice.
"Don't bring my mother into this!" Tenzin screams as his face becomes red with anger.
"Look, I can't wait any longer to finish my training. Being cooped up and hidden away from the world isn't helping me become a better Avatar. It's not fair that Kanna has to be coped up with me when she could be exploring the world. I saw a lot of the city today, and it's totally out of whack. I understand now why you need to stay. Republic City does need you. But it needs me, too." Korra and Kanna stare at him, waiting for his answer.
"You ... ah ..." Tenzin sighs and drops his head.
•
Korra and Kanna get ready to leave for the Southern Water Tribe. Suddenly, the forms of three children come into view.
"Korra! Kanna!" Meelo and Ikki shout before running up to the girls and hugging their waist. Jinora holds back, but quickly runs toward them to join the group hug after Korra beckons her with a hand movement. Kanna gently places kisses on all the kid's foreheads.
"Are you coming to live with us on the island?" Ikki inquiries excitedly. Kanna frowns and bends down to her height. She ruffles Ikki's hair.
"No, we're not. We have to get back home." Kanna whispers. Ikki sighs and bows her head in disappointment. The airbenders watch as Korra lead Naga away with Kanna and Lee toward the members of the Order, who walk up to meet her. Kanna and Korra place their hands on Naga's neck while Lee crawls ontop of Naga's head, all four gazing down in sadness. Tenzin stares at them with a serious face until a hint of compassion hits him.
"Wait. I have done my best to guide Republic City toward the dream my father had for it, but you're right. It has fallen out of balance since he passed. I thought I should put off your training in order to uphold his legacy, but you are his legacy. You may stay and train airbending here with me. Republic City needs its Avatar once again." Tenzin informs Korra. He then turns to Kanna. "You may stay so you can protect Korra and explore the new world. Korra was right, its not fair that we coped you two up without letting you two explore the world first."
"Yes! Thank you! You're the best!" Korra cheers. Kanna tackles Tenzin in a hug.
"Thank you." She whispers to him. He pats her head.
"Yaaaaay!" The children scream, running up to Kanna and Korra.
The two hug the three kids, effortlessly lifting them off the ground. Ikki giggles as Naga walks up, joining in the group hug by putting her head against in Korra's back, purring contently. Meelo smiles when Lee does a flip off Naga's head and begins to walk around on his two front legs in happiness. Kanna lifts Lee in the air and spins.
"We're finally going to achieve our dream." Kanna tells him, crushing him on her chest. Her brown eyes sparkle.
•
A large cheering crowd has gathered to ask Korra questions. She gazes at the gathered mass, looking overwhelmed. She gazes at Kanna, who stands beside her. Kanna grabs Korra's hand and gives it a gentle squeeze to assure her that it's going to be fine. That's all Korra needs to gain her confidence back. She clears her throat and leans forward to speak in the microphones.
"Hello? I'm Korra, your new Avatar." Korra says. Immediately, people begin to bombard her with questions.
"Does this mean you've moved to Republic City?"
"Were you trying to send a message to the Triads yesterday?"
"Will you be fighting crime or the Anti-bending Revolution, or both?"
"Will you be working with Chief Beifong and the police?"
"Uh ... yes, I am definitely here to stay, but honestly I - I don't exactly have a plan yet. See, I'm still in training, but, look, all I know is that Avatar Aang meant for this city to be the center of peace and balance in the world, and I believe we can make his dream a reality. I look forward to serving you!" Korra replies back. Tenzin and Lin, who are also standing beside Korra, exchange a look with one another. The crowd explodes with chatter.
"Who's that beside you, Avatar Korra?"
"This is Kanna, my protector." More and more chatter and questions break out. Korra and Kanna take a subtle sweep glance of the crowd. The journalists and citizens take pictures of the two, blinding the girls with the flashes.

"I'm so happy to be here with Kanna. Thank you, Republic City!" Korra's voice is heard over a radio.
"Thank you for welcoming us with open arms." Kanna's voice is heard next. A man in a strange get-ups and turns off the radio.
"Amon, how do you want to handle this?" He inquiries. Amon, wearing a hooded cape, has his hands held behind his back as he stares at a large map of the world hanging from the wall in front of him.
"So, the Avatar and her protector have arrived early. It looks like we'll have to accelerate our plans." Amon turns, letting his masked face be shown.
