Once in the faraway land of Gelum there was a beautiful girl named Nix. She was kind to all and loved by many. But none loved her more than her dear father.
He was the king and took pride in his daughters beauty. But King Ultrix was worried that one day she may be asked to wed a prince that would just be waiting for him to kick the bucket so he would take his place. Which was every kings fear.
One day as the king was pondering as to what to with his daughter a bright light cascaded from the window. Blinding the king. As the light died down a tall, shimmering figure stood in front of him. It was none other than Prophetia. The minor goddess of prophecy. She bowed.
“Your mighty highness. I bring you urgent news.” she said.
“What is is Prophetia?! What kind of news?!” He was clutching the sides of his throne and sat on the edge about to fall off. Prophetia sighed.
“My humble king. I regret to inform you that your daughter has fallen in love with a pesant of sorts. He is wise, strong, and very powerful.”
The king relaxed and laughed. “A pesant? My daughter marry a pesant? Never.”
“Oh but this is no mere pesant. He is dangerous. If you daughter is to marry him she will help in the aid in your destruction.”
“Then I shall send my army after him and kill him!”
“Do that if you wish. But be warned. If you do you will lose more than you shall gain.” And in a burst of light she was gone.
Despite the goddesses warning the king sent his best troops to hunt down this peasant of which the goddess had spoken of.
As the troops neared the hills of ware the man lived they noticed Nix with him. The troops closed in with their bows at the ready. Nix’s love did not see the arrow before Nix did and in an urge to save her love she took the arrow meant for him. The man fell to his knees as his love lay there in the grass.
The man looked up and his image flickered to reveal one of the most feared god of all. Hades.
The men shook with fear as the god picked up Nix and carried her to the kings castle.
The king was in shock as Hades set down Nix in front of him.
“Ultrix!” Hades boomed. “You have killed the one I love and your own daughter and for that I curse you!”
Nix’s body rose up and in a flash of white light Nix was gone. Leaving unknown white flurries in her place.
“From this day forth whenever the earth feels as cold as your heat these will fall to remind all of your daughter. It as bright and beautiful as her midnight hair; as pale as her porcelain skin; as pure as her heart. And every time someone hears the wind as this falls it will be the sound of her soft tears that fell from her face as she died!”
“Bu-but what will you call this-this white?” the king stammered.
“I shall call it snow. After you daughter.” then Hades glared. “And now to further your cures. I grant you immortality. That way for whenever the snow fall it remind you of Nix, and how you killed her.”
And as Hades vanished into the Underworld the king sat on his throne. And sulked.
As Hades made his way to his own throne he to sulked. Remembering his lost love and the hole in his heart that will never be filled.
