Chapter 8

Dear reader,
I'm sorry I haven't updated for a while, but I HAVE A REASON!!! When I wrote and published chapter 8 it deleted! So FINALLY... here is chapter 8.

❤️Anna
~

Anika woke, eyes clenched and drenched in cold sweat. She scrunched herself into a tight ball and hugged her knees. Her visions - they had to be just visions! - traumatized her. Yellow eyes... Haunting her, dragging her to her grave... Sharp fangs, hungry for more. The continuous noise of the sharpening of claws racked her body. She held back a scream.

Suddenly light flooded in and tickled her eyelids, prying them open. Anika slapped her hands over her eyes, scrunching them tight. Warmth entered her chest and chorused through her arms, legs and neck right to the tips of her toes. Relief. Relief from the shattering coldness of the cave.

Anika almost shouted her joy. She felt the sun beating down on her and finally felt her fingers unfreeze. Then for one fraction of a second, her eyes fluttered open and blue sky smiled down on her. Anika smiled back.

After a long time, Anika finally realized what was happening. She was moving! A gentle swaying from side to side, the plod, plod of heavy feet on the ground... But not her own feet. Common sense told her to look and see who or what was carrying her. Yet she refused her eyes to open. Instead she decided that she was safe and snuggled into the warm, soft body of the mysterious creature that was carrying her. Sleep.

When she awoke, Anika no longer felt the heat of the sun, but the coolness of night. The plod, plodding of feet carried on however. She heard a curlew screech. Chills ran up her spine, but she felt safe with the creature with her. After a while the movement stopped and Anika felt herself being lowered to the ground. A soft blanket of leaves crunched underneath her. Suddenly without the warmth of the creature, Anika felt the coldness of nighttime. Panicking again, Anika almost opened her eyes to see where the creature went, but soon enough she felt a soft thud on the ground beside her and a large, warm body protecting her from the night. A few crickets chirped and the Mosquitos bit her skin, but Anika settled down to sleep, and shortly, she fell into unconsciousness.
