I woke up Friday morning, I felt calm because I wasn't in a hurry to get to class. This week had been really hectic and stressful. With finals and everything going on I was really glad that it was finally summer break.

I felt a sense of relief waking this morning and not having to rush out the door to get to my first class of the day. I got up because I heard Alexa in the kitchen, "What's going on in here?" Alexa jumped a little I couldn't help but to laugh.

"It isn't funny Alessa." She says "What are you looking for?" "I'm looking for the lid to my coffee mug." I open the cabinet and pull it out for her. "You have to be kidding me." She says a little annoyed.

"What's going on this morning?" "It's fashion show week and you know I start to freak out. Felicia has really been on me to make sure that everything is perfect." "Alexa you have been her assistant for 6 years now and every year you freak out. You rock it every year and you stress yourself out for nothing."

"Your right I do stress myself out every year about this, it's just you know this is my dream job and I can't afford to make a mistake." "Just take a deep breath take a drink of your coffee and calm down."

"Okay I really need to go though, I really don't want to be late. I will see you all later tonight." I hug her before she leaves as I make my way back to my room shaking my head at her. Alexa and I have been best friends since we were babies.

It only made sense that we would be best friends since our parents have all known each other for a really long time. They were all really close friends so it only made sense that when both our moms found out they were pregnant about the same time that we would be best friends.

Then to find out that both of them would be having girls. Alexa is about a month older than me. She does good not to let me forget that she is a month older and a month wiser. We moved out to New York about 6 years ago when I got accepted to the University.

School wasn't her thing but she knew she would have a better opportunity to land her dream job and she did. She is the assistant to one of the biggest fashion designers here in New York. I always knew she would get it, all through middle school and high school she made most of our clothes.

This was her chance to learn from the best and maybe one day become one of the best herself. When I started college I had this whole plan planned out for myself, lately my head has been somewhere else. I am pre med right now I only have two years of school left, I'm just not sure that is what I want anymore.

I don't feel like the same person I was then when I got here and of course I wasn't. With everything that has happened over the last year I just was feeling a little lost. I moved here started school and met this amazing guy, we were together for 4 years we ended it last year when he finally got this job offer he had been waiting years for and left to Texas.

To say that wasn't painful would be a lie because he never even thought about asking if I wanted to come with him. Not that I would of anyways I had left Texas and I didn't want to go back.

It still would have been nice to know that he was also thinking about the future we could of had together. I spent my pre adult years with this guy after leaving home and being on my own and for me to say it wasn't great would also be a lie. Now that I have been single for a little over a year now I just haven't felt like that person anymore.

As I made my way to the living room to watch TV I got a call, I smiled when I seen the name and I answered. "Hello?" "Alessa my beautiful sexy friend, what are you doing babes?" "Hey Kevin I just sat down to watch TV what's up?"

"Well Blaine and I miss you so we were just wondering is you wanted to go have lunch with us?" "Yes I would love to go have lunch with two of my favorite guys. I miss you both very much too." Although I stayed in contact with the close group of friends I had made here in New York it wasn't the same as seeing them.

It had been months now that I hadn't seen them and so going out tonight I was really excited about. I was going to get to see all my friends and we were just going to have a great time together. "Okay great we will be by to pick you up shortly." I hung up the phone as I ran to my room and grabbed some clothes.

I picked out some black leggings and my light blue pom pom jersey and I put it on. I pulled my hair up into a messy bun and put on some light make up. As I was doing this I hear a honk outside I look out the window and see that Kevin and Blaine were already out there.

I grab my wallet and run outside, I get in the car and kiss them both on the cheek. "Oh my gosh I have really missed you guys so much." I say to them as we drive to the Chinese place. Chinese was my favorite thing to eat and so I was really happy when we got there.

We get out and go inside and the waitress sits us down at the table, we gave her our drink orders and then made our way to the buffet. I got a plate full of food and went and sat down "I seriously still don't understand how you can eat so much and still be so thin."

Blaine says to me I just laugh as I start eating "So Alessa tell me what happened to that cute boy Josh you were talking too." "Well we were just talking and now we are not." "So what I'm hearing is that you would occasionally hook up with him?"

I laugh as I shake my head at him "You so had a hook up buddy" he says and we all start laughing. "I am just so ready for tonight and getting to see everyone it's going to be crazy." I say we talk some more about how school and stuff was and then we finished eating and left. They dropped me off at home and I was now tired from eating so much.

I went inside and sat on the couch and was going to watch TV when my phone started ringing. "You have to be kidding me." I say as I pick up my phone and answered it "Hello." I said annoyed. "Well hello to you too." My mom says "Hey mom." "Hey long lost daughter I haven't hear from you in a while. What's been going on?"

"Well mom the same as always just busy with school work but now that school is out I am glad." "It doesn't mean that you can start being lazy Alessa." "Oh mom don't start this right now, I'm 24 years old I don't need you to tell me what to do anymore." "Oh my gosh Alessa don't get your panties in a bunch."

"Is there a reason you called or was it just to annoy me?" "I can't ever have a civil conversation with you." "No because you always have to open your mouth about things that don't concern you anymore like my life decisions."

"You're still my daughter Alessa weather you like it or not that is my job." "No it was your job when I left that is when it stopped being your job." "How did your finals go?" "Well I passed them all if that is what you want to know."

"That's great and how is Alexa?" "She is busy, you know running around for Felicia and all that." "I bet she is really stressed right now." "Yeah you know fashion week and all." "Well tell her to call her mother she misses her."

"Why can't she just call her." "She does call her and she don't answer." "She is busy I can't do anything about that. I'm sure Alexa will call her when she gets a chance to." " Now that it's summer will you be coming down to see us?" "I don't know mom I haven't even thought about it."

"Well do you not want to see us? You know you haven't been home in like three years." "Well mom maybe it's because I don't want to go home. Besides it's not like your going out your way to come to New York either."

"Oh you know we don't have time for that." "You think I just have all this time to go to Texas? Why would I go anyways when half the time you aren't even home. The only reason I would even go was to see Dom and now that he is gone well you get it."

"Well what about to see Luke?" "Why the fuck would I want to see him we broke up." "Don't use that language with me Alessa, besides he really misses you." "Well he is the one that left mom not me and if he really missed me so much then he wouldn't have left without asking if I wanted to go okay. So he can just go screw himself."

"Alessa!" "Why don't you go bother Luke or something you seem to be really close now." I say as I hang up the phone. Oh my gosh I seriously can't believe he has been talking to my mother. How dare he tell her that he misses me when he left me.

I was annoyed at this point so I just turned the TV on and started watching shows that I was behind on. After watching a few episodes I fell asleep by the time I knew it Alexa was home and waking me up. "Hey get your ass up." She says to me as she grabs my leg "Hey don't do that." I say to her.

"Okay grumpy." I look at my phone and see that it is 6 o'clock "What are you doing home so early?" "Well Felicia has some business in Paris that she said she didn't need me for so she sent me home early and I will be off all weekend."

I followed her into the kitchen and she had brought home some food for us. It was pizza and I was so glad it wasn't a salad. "So my mother called me today." "Oh how did that go?" "You know the same as usual she tried to tell me how to live my life and I told her to stay out of it."

"What else did she say?" "She said to tell you to call your mom, she also said that she had been talking to Luke and that I should go down this summer to go see him because he told her that he missed me." "Oh my gosh are you serious? Wow he is so lame first he leaves without even thinking about you and now he is telling your mom he misses you. He really is a grade A idiot."

"Yeah no kidding, then I tell her why don't then ever come to New York and she says you know we don't ever have time to do that. Like what the fuck and you want me to go see you. Um no!" "What does my mother want?" "I have no idea she just said that she has been trying to call you and that you don't answer."

We sat down on the couch and ate pizza and watched some more TV. By the time I knew it it was going to be 9 and we hadn't even gotten ready. I looked at the time "Well we are going to be late as usual." We both laugh.
