Chapter Four: Preparations

Lilliana led me back to the others and Diana asked if I was okay. Nodding I sighed and asked her if she was serious about helping me out and she nodded, so I took her up on the offer. I'd rather not die before my two years are up so I better get more serious about training. Slowly everyone started heading off to bed and finally tired I said good night as well.

'What a long ass day.'

Later Diana woke me up and told me to get my running shoes on. Is she serious? I just fell asleep only hours ago, not to mention I have training with The Master in an hour too. She gave me a look and sighing I got up to change and get ready. She obviously waited outside in the hall.

Once I stepped out I noticed Mara was standing there, also dressed in running gear. She coming with us too? Diana nodded to me and had me follow them outside.

Apparently they both do this everyday or as often as they can when not on missions. Basically we stretched and then they told me to keep up. Which wasn't easy to do when your not used to running. We finally took a break in the woods before heading back.

"Don't worry about it, each time you do it it gets easier. Your body just isn't used to it yet. Your injuries probably don't help though," Diana said pointing to my bruises as I wiped my sweat from my face with my shirt. Honestly they didn't bother me too much. Mara studdied them and looked at me. I let my shirt go.

"I'm fine, Kiddo. They actually don't bother me. Anyways, I have to go change and meet up with Master. Thanks for your help, see you guys at lunch," I said and hurried back to my room before I'm late. I ran into Lillyana on my way.

"Whoa, man your sweaty and you smell," she said with a small laugh so I knew she was teasing me. I rolled my eyes.

"Well thanks for that, I gotta go change real fast before I'm late," I said and started to go around her. She stopped me.

"Tyrian, about what Noxos said yesterday, about you liking me. Is it true, I mean if it is I have a right to know don't I?" She asked. I trapped her against the wall gently and stared down into her green eyes. Her breath caught and I whispered in her ear that I had to go now. Then I backed away and continued on to my room. When I have time I'll tell her, but Master will kill me if I'm late.

Once I took a quick shower and changed I hurried to the training area. I know it's dumb cause I'll probably sweat or ruin these clothes too, but I really didn't want to A. Show up already soaked with sweat and B. The clothes I had on are different from what I wear for Master's training. For running I wore shorts and tank top, but with him I want as much skin covered as I can, so I wore light sweats and a t-shirt.

Training went a bit like the first day, he beat me, but I did manage to get hit less than before. Still can't get him to go down though. Once done I went to wash up for Lunch. I was hungry since I missed breakfast this morning. The others were already sitting at a table when I got there and I joined them.

Lilliana blushed and looked down at her food. 'Was she still thinking about earlier? If so is that a good sign or a bad sign?' Nox of course didn't miss it, but of course nothing happened between us so we ignored him and his theories.

"My brother has a point. So you two didn't kiss or anything, but what did happen?" Mara said.

"We just talked, that's all," I said. Which was true. I just left out the part where I had had Lilliana against a wall and had wanted to kiss her but chickened out.

"A girl doesn't blush like that over "just a talk" dude, so spill," Noxos said. I ignored him, after rolling my eyes, and went back to eating. It occured to me during training that she had probably thought I was going to kiss her and when I hadn't it might have confused her a bit. 'Had she wanted me to kiss her and if she had does that mean she likes me too?'

Once my sandwich was done I turned the conversation to a different topic. I wanted to know their opinions on how the Captain was dealing with the situation we're all in. Everyone said they trusted the Captain and that I should too.

I do, to a certain extent, but I don't know if he realizes that this is as serious as it is. I mean we should be hiding important documents and getting the area ready by fortifying the building and surrounding area. He should be prepared for all outcomes. Maybe bring in some extra people from our allies? I didn't tell them any of that though, I kept it to myself.

Maybe there is something I can do though. I stood from the table and told the others I had an errand to run. Then I threw my trash out and headed to talk to Captain. I have a few friends in other guilds and maybe I can get just them to come help us. Of course I was thinking that if I tell Captain I wanted a few extra hands for the town evacuation he might approve of it.

I went to knock on the door and heard Master kind of arguing with Captain. Maybe I shouldn't bother them right now. Maybe I'll make the calls and ask for forgiveness later? Just as I was about to walk away the door opened and Master stared at me.

"You just going to stand there all day or come in?" He asked. "We already sensed you were here," he added. I cleared my throat and nodded as I stepped inside.

"Sorry for the interruption, but I have a question to ask. I know you don't want to ask for help from the other guilds, but I have a few friends and I was wondering if you'd allow me to enlist their help for the evacuation of the town?" I said getting right to the point. He set his pen down and studied me a minute.

"If you can give me their names I can talk to their guild masters and see if any are available to help. Do you really need them for the evacuation? What I mean by that is you have a lot of capeable people already," he said.

"It couldn't hurt to have a couple of people with abilities with us incase they decide to attack us and stop us and you need all hands on deck so I thought maybe my friends could help," I said. He seemed to think on it a minute then slid his pen and notepad over to me.

"I'll need names and Guild names so I can help you with your request. I'll talk to their masters, but only to see who is free. You will have to make the calls," he said. I nodded. So basically he'll find out who I can call from my list and I'll call them.

I wrote about 10 names down and he nodded to me. I thanked him and left, then went to talk to the group tasked with the town evacuation and explained to them what was going on. Hey they should know, after all my fib is that I was doing it for them. They all agreed that it was a smart precaution. I then asked how the plans were going since I was supposed to be over seeing it.

They said they were trying to find a way to evacuate the town without causing a panic or allerting the enemy. I'm not sure how to stop from raising a panic, but I had an idea about getting the people out. Telling them I had an Idea I went over to the shelves and looked for the specific scrolls I'd need and when I found them I set them ontop of the map we had out and lined them up.

"Okay, you remember how Captian mentioned that there are old tunnels and sewer lines under the city? Maybe we can use them to get people out, right under the enemy's nose," I said.

"Yeah, but aren't half of those tunnels blocked off or caved in?" One of our researchers asked.

"Yes, and that is where my gifted friends may come in handy, as well as a few people here, they should be able to either fix the tunnels or get around the collapses by making their own connecting tunnel," I said. They all looked at eachother and nodded at me. Now we just have to find a way to warn people when the time is right without causing a panic.

"It looks like one of the tunnels connects to the church. Maybe if we can call a town meeting there we can evacuate people out at that point," One of our trackers said. I nodded, that was a good plan and most dark magic users stay away from churches so they wouldn't know exactly what we were planning. However, there is still the issue of a panic.

"Well lets put our first part of the plan in motion, getting the tunnels ready. We'll work on the rest when we've all had time to think and brain storm some ideas. Maybe as we work, it will spark our brains," I suggested. They did admit that they were pretty tired. I nodded, put our blueprints of the tunnels back, and headed to my bedroom. Should the enemy try to sneek in and snoop around I wasn't going to leave our plan out in the open. The odds of that happening are slim, but wizards can be sneaky.

I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw him standing there leaning casually against my room door like he was just chilling out. That pissed me off. The Captain agreed to keep him away from me indefinitely, so why is he here now?

"You have some nerve showing up here. Leave before I call Captain," I muttered and clenched my fists at my side. He looked up at me calmly then cracked a smile.

"Still need others to fight your battles for you, eh? I heard you got stronger, guess they were just rumors. All well, it'll still be fun to kick your powerless ass," he said pushing off the door. He kept his hands in his pockets as he started towards me. Did he really espect to fight without his hands?

"You need to leave, you're not supposed to be here, Dustin," I said through clenched teeth.
