Chapter Fourty-Three: Conclusion (Tyrian)

I could feel the blood running down from where he ripped something out of my body. I hadn't noticed it before, because of the numbness and adrenaline. Thankfully, since the fight was still going my adrenaline was still keeping me from feeling too much of the pain. Still if we don't end this, I might lose too much blood and either get too weak to fight or even pass out again.

How can I beat this guy though. He is on a whole other level than that other guy I fought earlier. He's far more skilled at fighting and his powers are even more unique and difficult to counter. I know I asked Master to stay out of this and I even played off the seriousness of my condition to Captain, but can I really do anything to stop this man?

I have to try, I'll use everything I know to beat him. At the very least I can stall him until the others get his men under control. I've got to do this, if he enters the fight right now we're all done for, he'll win.

"This is really getting boring, you're too weak to even beat one of my lowest level men, let alone me. Do us all a favor and give up or at the very least lie down and die from blood loss," he said looking down on me.

"Maybe so, but I wouldn't be much of a man if I just rolled over and gave up now would I?" I said, painfully straightening my spine, as I lifted the sword towards him. "No more talking, lets finish this," I added and attacked him.

He easily blocked and dodged but I didn't let up on my attacks and managed to nic him a few times. The plan was not to give him time to counter attack and keep him busy as long as possible.

Tired and in a lot of pain I pushed myself past it. There was no way I'm letting this man win here, not when my friends and the woman I'm in love with are in danger. If I die trying to save them, then I'll have no regrets. I just have to keep him from absorbing any more magical attacks.

"Really going to lay down your life just to slow me down, huh? You know you can't beat me, this is futile. Slow me down all you want, but it won't change the outcome. You and everyone else will die tonight," he said clearly picking up on what I was doing. Whether he knows or not doesn't change what I have to do.

"I know I probably can't win in my condition, but I have faith in my Guild. This won't end the way you want it to," I said and it was true I have faith that even if I lose to him here, my guild mates will persevere. But, that doesn't mean I'll give up either. I can at least weaken him, slow him down, or even - on the off chance - win, so I can't give up.

We will beat them and send them packing, no doubt in my mind. Whether I get to see it happen or not that's the only thing I'm unsure of. I kept blocking his attacks and he continued to block mine as well, we weren't getting anywhere like this. The longer it drags out the weaker I'll get from the blood loss. I wish I had asked Captain to do a healing spell on me too.

"I see you're just as stubborn as ever, Tyrian. Though it also surprises me that you're willing to go this far," I heard Alaska say. Austin joined her and instantly got to work. He cast a healing spell on me then went to help the others. Glad they were able to make it. I honestly didn't think they'd be able to get away from their jobs in time to help.

His healing spell wasn't enough to close the wound or help with blood loss, but it did stop the bleeding for now. That helped a lot, It'll give me a little more time.

I blocked his attack and counter attacked. After separating for a moment we continued our fight. Without absorbing magic attacks sword fighting was definitely all he could do right now. Still I'm not getting through, so what else can I do?

As his sword broke my defense and came right at me it's like everything paused for a second and I was able to dodge it and even cut him with my own sword. What was that though? It happened a few times before. Was it just instinct or could what he said before have been true? Do I have some kind of magic ability I didn't know about? I doubt he'll tell me anything so asking him would be pointless.

"Damn it, You're lucky, Kid," He growled out in anger and pain. I backed off and we stared each other down for a moment before attacking again. I'm going to have to stop being cautious and start attacking more furiously if this is ever going to end. I could tell my Guild members were winning their battles so beating him might just make them retreat.

"Tell me, you were planning on taking the magic from the sword to use it yourself weren't you? What were you planning to do with that power?" I asked.

"There is no "were planning" I am planning to take that power. As for the rest, it doesn't really concern you. You won't get to see the new world anyway," He said. He's pretty cocky and determined too. What new world does he want anyways and how many is he willing to kill to make that world come true?

"I admit this world isn't perfect, but killing people and destroying lives isn't the answer to changing it," I said and he glared at me. That's the first real reaction I've gotten from him.

"You're just a child what do you know about the imperfections of this world?" he growled out.

"Thanks to you I know a lot more about it than most kids my age. Did you forget you murdered my parents, twice?" I muttered back and met his sword with my own. Now I'm the one losing my cool. Remembering he was the reason for my parents' deaths as well as my friends', pissed me off for a moment.

I'm honestly lucky to have found a loving family to take me in after my biological parents were killed. If they hadn't decided to take me I'd probably either be living on the street, in an abusive home, or even dead. I'm not naive, I know how bad this world can be, but I've also known the good it has too.

I could feel it, that weird tingling feeling throughout my body was starting to slowly come back. Is Captain's spell wearing off? Damn, I might not be able to move much longer even with my wound stinted.

Time to pull out all the things I've learned and all my training. I backed away from him and closed my eyes. Taking a deep breath I tried to calm myself and drown out all of the fighting noise around me. I just need to focus on my immediate surroundings.

I felt it his sword and large frame coming at me and I easily blocked it. He had said something about not getting distracted and closing my eyes during a battle was pretty stupid. Once I was calmer I reopened my eyes and glared at him.

With my training I can sense him and keep up, but with what Shay taught me I can fight back. I took my torn and bloodied shirt off, since it was useless and slowing my movements down at this point.

"Seems like you are ready to get serious, but it still won't do you any good, Kid," he said. Maybe so, but I'll still try. I readied my sword and waited to see if he'd make the next move.

After what felt like a long time he finally made a move against me and I easily dodged it and counter attacked. He barely managed to block my sword in time. Instead of a fatal wound all I managed to do was scratch him. He pushed me away with force, but I managed to stay on my feet as I slid backwards. Not wasting a second I attacked again.

This time when he blocked my sword I used the opportunity to strike his side with my foot. He winced and we parted again. We continued like that over and over. Where his attacks weren't connecting I was able to keep inflicting minor damage on him.

That lucky hit I made earlier, with my sword, was also helping. The wound was deep enough that it was bleeding quite a bit and I'm sure it is pretty painful as well. He didn't slow down though, however it did seem to effect his strength a little from time to time. I'm finally starting to get somewhere, but I'm still far from winning this. Can't let up.

After about 20 more minutes of our back and fourth it seemed like all the minor injuries and the not so minor one were slowly starting to catch up with him. His breathing was getting heavier and he was sweating a whole lot more than before. Though I hit that point a while ago so he's still doing a bit better than I was. Still, with Austin's healing spell I was able to slow my pain and exhaustion down. He hasn't been healed yet and I don't plan to let him be either.

We kept going and that weird feeling inside my body kept slowly getting stronger. I tried to ignore it and not get distracted from the fight. At least until I couldn't ignore it. I jumped back away from him to get distance between us as I tried to figure out what was happening to me.

Of course he didn't wait for me and I had to keep dodging and putting distance between us. After a few minutes of me dodging the weird buzzing in my veins stopped along with everything else around me. What is happening? Did - Did time just stop? Or did I just speed up so fast it looks like everything is still? Is this someone elses doing or did I do this?

Well, I suppose I shouldn't waste it. But would it be fair to attack him like this? If this is time magic, it might actually be useful against him. It might be the one thing he can't absorb if he's not expecting it. I decided to use this opportunity to at least get one good attack in before I lose my chance. I ran towards him and sliced my sword across his chest. It'd be so easy to end it all right now, but honestly it didn't feel right.

I closed my eyes and wondered how can I restart time and or slow down? I'm still not sure which this power was. After a moment the sounds of the battles came rushing back as did the man's painful cry.

"What the hell did you do? How'd you get over there and how did you cut me?" he said in a demanding tone. Like I'd tell him even if I did know the answers to his questions. I just shrugged and he glared at me. "I see you must have powers similar to his," he said and took a deep breath as if trying to calm himself down.

I think it's time to finish this I'm too weak now to let this drag on and I want to settle this for everyone he has killed. As I raised my sword it was like all of their faces flashed in my mind as if they were telling me that I could do it and that they were with me.

As I attacked it felt like every ounce of strength I had left went into it and when he blocked with his own sword it broke. I dodged his punch and stabbed my sword into his stomach. As shock crossed his expression I pulled my sword out and he hit the ground.

Once I was sure he wasn't getting back up I fell to my knees and sighed. I'm exhausted and doubt I can move anymore. The rest is up to my Guild and my friends.

"D-Damn. You. They - They. Will win," he muttered before taking his last breath.

The last thing I remember before finally passing out was Alaska making her way over to me. Was she watching the whole time?
