"So, how are you feeling today?"

I force a smile to my face. "I'm good, doctor. Very good."

Doctor Miller shakes her head. "How can I trust you if you're going to lie to me right from the start? You know that trust is important - "

"- If I'm going to overcome my 'issues'." I sit down on the couch opposite Doctor Miller's chair. "I know."

"So, how are you?" The good doctor picks up her notebook and pen, ready to start taking down the details of our session.

"Mentally or physically?" I ask.

"Both."

I sigh. "Physically I'm fine. Apart from a massive headache. Mentally? That's your field, doctor."

Doctor Miller writes something down in her book. "I'd say you're feeling some hostility. Mainly towards me."

"Really? What gave that away?" I shift so I'm lying down on the couch. "I'm here because those assholes at work told me to be here or I'd lose my job. Of course I'm feeling hostile."

"You're here because you were aggressive towards your colleagues."

"I'm here because I was honest about my feelings towards them!" I spit back at her. "And they should think themselves lucky that was all!"

The doctor consults her notes. "Yes. In our last session you were talking about your fantasies towards your coworkers."

"Harmless daydreams. That's all." I fold my arms over my chest.

"Revenge fantasies," Doctor Miller says. "Quite gruesome and violent. For example, you told me about how you would have liked to have used a grinding wheel to mutilate the person who sits next to you."

I feel warm inside as I remember that one. "Erasing him one-thousandth of an inch at a time." I sigh happily.

"You also talked about your plan to put copper grease on the brakes of your team leader's car."

"A bit crude and potentially indiscriminate," I admit. "But it would have been been effective."

The doctor turns over another page of her notebook. "And this one, where you told me about dissolving your manager in hydrofluoric acid. That was - ," her faces blanches, "somewhat graphic in nature."

"At least I kept it all in my head, doctor."

"Yes, but you let it out in other ways. These are unhealthy thoughts you have. Positively psychopathic. You need to come to terms with your hatred for your colleagues. So we have to examine the reasons for your feelings."

I tune out Doctor Miller's voice, consigning it to the background noise of the office - the air conditioning, the creaking of the springs in the couch, the ticking of the clock. In my head, I run through the different ways I could shut Doctor Miller up. Maybe not kill her, but get her to leave me alone. The fantasies sustain me for long enough to -

"Hey!" Doctor Miller's voice rouses me from my daydreaming. "Are you paying attention to me?"

I turn to look at her, and smile. "Careful, doctor. That's some temper you got there."
