Evening Secrets.
Early evening had begun to descend on Jaroon and Ezra was sitting far apart from where everyone else was getting to know Heero.
"Something the matter, Ezra?" asked Neeran as she sat next to him.
"Kyipi beat me in lightsaber sparring earlier," mumbled Ezra, his eyes flickering between yellow and electric blue.
"I wouldn't go getting all anger about it Ezra," said Neeran, noting the flickering. "You only learnt how to use a lightsaber just recently. She's been practicing with them since she was three years old, which was almost five years ago."
Ezra huffed at Neeran's statement.
"Oh, don't be like that," chuckled Neeran, punching his shoulder lightly. "You were still impressive against her."
Ezra didn't reply because he didn't quite believe her.
"Do you want me to tell you two secrets?"
Ezra perked up at the mention of a secrets.
"You just have to tell me two of yours in return," said Neeran looking at Ezra this time.
That caused Ezra to falter for a moment. He had many secrets, but he wasn't all that keen to share any of them, especially with a powerful Jedi Master like Neeran who could easily strike him down.
Then his vision from earlier came back to him.
"Okay."
"Alright, I'll go first," said Neeran. "You know how you lost to Kyipi?"
Ezra groaned and nodded at her statement, while Neeran just chuckled and continued, "Well, so did Shakkuri."
"What?! No way!" exclaimed Ezra.
"That was one time Mum," said Shakkuri.
Neeran smiled and whispered to Ezra, "He's still a little bit sensitive about it, even though it happened about three months ago."
"My turn?" asked Ezra and Neeran nodded.
"Okay," said Ezra, taking a deep breathe and looking at the ground. "I rejected Kanan's offer to train with him."
"That's not all though?" asked Neeran with a raised eyebrow when Ezra had a pause for to long.
"No," said Ezra in an admittedly guilty sounding voice. "After the Ghost crew left, I had this nightmare that plagued me for about two weeks, until I met the Inquisitor and joined him."
"And that was about three months ago I'm guessing," said Neeran looking up at the sky.
"How'd you know?" asked Ezra snapping his head up and looking at her.
"The Ghost crew came to visit me after you refused to join them and they told me about you," informed Neeran. "Only, I didn't make the connection that it was you."
"Can I have my second go?" asked Ezra.
"Sure."
"I regret doing it now, but earlier," started Ezra. "I... I told the Inquisitor where I was the other day. He should be coming here soon."
Neeran's eyes widened with realization and then softened as she said to him, "I thought so."
Ezra cringed for a moment as if expecting to be hit, but Neeran simply said,
"Your mind-link is with that Inquisitor, isn't it?"
Ezra just simply nodded.
"As for the message you sent, weren't you intrigued by his reply? Didn't it sound a bit strange?" questioned Neeran.
Ezra remembered back to the conversation he'd had the day before and how his Masters words had seemed a little strange. "Yeah, it was a little strange."
"That's because he was waiting for you to confirm the message I sent him," replied Neeran. "And that's why I was training everyone so hard today."
"Thank you, Neeran," said Ezra.
"Don't worry about it," replied Neeran, standing up. "I've got many more secrets to tell if you ever need help."
"You just need to ask," said Neeran, walking away with one final dialogue exchange. "Soredewa mata ashita ne*?"
"Ja mata**," replied Ezra without even thinking about what he was saying.
*This means 'Well then, see you tomorrow?' in Japanese but it's only a question with the 'ne' added on the end.
**And this means 'See you' in Japanese.
