Ezra watched Neeran as she instructed several of the village members on how use a weapon of their choice. Rin, Janan, Erza and Ed had vibro-swords while many of the others used firearms or other exotic weapons that Ezra didn't know the name of.

"Do we need our lightsabers today?" asked Kyipen.

'Lightsabers?!' thought Ezra.

"Not right now Kyipi," replied Neeran. "We'll train with lightsabers later. Today is about not relying on the Force for all of your problems."

"Oh, is that from Master Odan-Urr?" asked Janan.

"That's right. His teachings of Dependence," said Neeran. "Do not come to rely on the Force at the detriment of your other senses and abilities."

'Who is Neeran talking about?' wondered Ezra.

"Sabine, Ezra, you want to join us?"

"Alright!" exclaimed Sabine, joining in instantly while Ezra hung back a bit.

"Come on Ezra!" called Kyipen. "It'll be fun."

"Okay," replied Ezra, reluctantly heading over to join them.

"Alright then," started Neeran, before noticing that someone was missing. "Where's Chopper?"

Suddenly, Neeran dropped to the ground to avoid an overhead-sweeping blow from a lightsaber.

"On an ordinary person, you would have just decapitated them with my lightsaber Chopper," replied Neeran, pulling it from his grip with the Force and clipping it to her belt. "But you're not sneaking up on me with a technique like that."

Sabine and Ezra were surprised that Chopper had just tried to kill Neeran with her own lightsaber.

"But I was so close that time," complained Chopper.

"I understand that you're an ex-child soldier but that doesn't give you permission to try and kill me!" exclaimed Neeran. "Although you are getting better at it."

"Why are you congratulating him?" asked Sabine. "He just tried to kill you!"

"There's a challenge among everyone here to try and knock me out, not kill me," said Neeran, looking at Chopper at the end of the sentence. "Only Shakkuri and Chopper have ever gotten close to completing it."

"Why would you have a challenge like that?" asked Ezra.

"To teach everyone," replied Neeran. "You can learn a lot by trying to attack someone."

"Chopper, you're demonstrating today," said Neeran.

Chopper jumped up and stood in a ready stance.

"Good," said Neeran. "Pinan Nidan. Black belt version."

"Hai!" replied Chopper, performing what Neeran had asked him to do with everyone else watching. Ezra recognised the pattern that Chopper was doing.

"I know that," whispered Ezra. "But how?"

"Well done Chopper," said Neeran. "You're getting really good at that kata."

"Thanks," replied Chopper smiling widely.

"Ready to begin everyone?"

"Hai!" replied everyone gathered.
