Chapter Seven - Austria
Morning had come much too quickly for your liking. What you wouldn't have given for another half hour of sleep, or better yet, another day in Germany. Three days went by faster than you expected, and now today you and your friends would be taking a bus to Austria for your next tour. You weren't ready to leave yet, but you had to move forward, even if it meant leaving your two very handsome German tour directors behind. At least Alfred would still be with your group, so you knew you'd have some eye candy to look at yet.
Despite your unbalanced emotions, you were awake well before anyone. Your phone read that it was only a quarter past five. With a quiet sigh, you got up and dressed yourself, taking care of the rest of your morning routine while you were in the bathroom. You made sure Charlotte and and Darcy were still fast asleep and hadn't been disturbed by you moving around. Once you were sure they hadn't woken up, you snuck out of the room since you had all of your things packed and ready to go last night already. You made your way down the halls silently to where Gilbert, Ludwig, and Alfred were rooming.
The lights under the door told you that one or all of them were at least up. You know what else told you they were awake? You could hear the sound of metal music blasting softly in the background. It wasn't loud enough to wake the neighboring rooms, but it was loud enough to be heard through the wooden door. You summoned all the courage you could muster and knocked. The music was turned down slightly and Ludwig opened the door.
"(Y/n), what are you doing up so early? I thought I told everyone breakfast wasn't until seven-thirty?" he inquired, extremely perplexed by your sudden appearance.
Gilbert got up and rushed over to peer over his taller brother's shoulder. "Awesome! Now this is really a party. Get in here!"
Gilbert pulled you into the room, causing you to squeak. He began head banging to the metal music with Alfred, who had been silently mouthing the words to the song and head banging. You couldn't help but giggle and join them. Ludwig facepalmed and went to read a book on his bed. The song soon ended and you painted lightly. Who knew head banging could take up so much of your energy?
"So, What brings you here at five-thirty in the morning?" Alfred asked.
"I wanted to spend more time with Ludwig and Gilbert before we headed off to Austria," you answered truthfully.
Gilbert pulled Alfred close by his shirt. "It's because the frauline has the biggest crush on me und mein bruder~" the Albino purred as Alfred chuckled.
"Yeah right. She's got a crush on me too because I'm the hero of her dreams."
"Guys, can we not talk about my feelings for anyone?" you asked with a pout.
"Ja, ja," Gilbert said with a wave of his hand. "Let's just hang and enjoy the company of each other for the few hours we have left."
"You make it seem like the apocalypse is gonna happen..."
"La la la! I'm not listening to you guys!" Alfred said obnoxiously as he plugged his ears.
"Kesese! Don't be lame, Alfred. The apocalypse is just a hoax, like the moon landing."
Alfred gasped dramatically. "You shut your whore mouth! That was real and you know it!"
"Whatever you say, bro. Whatever you say."
"Can you both not speak like that in front of a lady?" Ludwig grumbled.
You blushed and looked away. He was always so formal with you, but you kind of liked it. It was definitely something you wouldn't get back home in America, so you'd cherish his formality and kindness for as long as it lasted. You spent the rest of the morning up until breakfast in the boys' room. Gilbert gave you his email and social media usernames so the two of you could stay in touch. He may have also given you all of his brother's contact information too, but Ludwig didn't know about that little detail.
Breakfast ended and everyone grabbed their luggage and backpacks before heading to the bus to load up their belongings. Your friends and you said goodbye to your wonderful tour directors for Germany. Ludwig gave everyone a goodbye handshake and Gilbert did a secret handshake each girl had come up with him before they boarded the bus. You, however, got two very special goodbyes. Gilbert gave you a kiss on the cheek and a gentle noogie. Ludwig kissed the back of your hand and helped you into the bus subtly. You were a blushing mess as you took a seat by yourself with Alfred taking the row of seat across from you.
"So, you and the Germans, huh~?" he teased.
"Sh-shut up... We're not together... They were just being friendly is all. Yeah... Just being friendly," you sighed.
"Sure, (y/n). Whatever you say."
You whined quietly and tried to ignore the smug looks Alfred was giving you as the bus pulled away from the hotel and headed toward Vienna, Austria. You chatted with your friends happily and took a nap since you didn't get much sleep. After all, you did have almost an eight hour bus ride.
You were awake when you arrived in Vienna a little after four o'clock in the afternoon. Your group got off of the bus at your hotel, where you met your tour guide. He wasn't thin, but he wasn't overweight either, and he definitely wasn't buff like Ludwig. He was just an average looking guy. Well, kind of average. He had an eccentric air about him and he dressed somewhat fancily. His hair was brown with a wild strand of hair that refused to stay in place. His eyes were violet in color and he had a beauty mark by the left side of his lower lip. He wore thin wire glasses.
"I am Roderich Edelstein. Do not address me as Rod or Derek. I will choose to ignore you." Those were his first words to your group.
Alfred chuckled nervously. "Come on, Roderich. Lighten up a little."
The Austrian looked him dead in the eyes with the most bored expression you had ever witnessed. "I will not lighten up."
"Geez, dude. You're even gloomier than the last time I was here... Anyway, I'll tell you all who you're rooming with and then we'll be on our way to our first of only two destinations today, okay?"
"Yeah," you're group responded.
"Alright, so Darcy and Valerie are rooming together. Samantha, you're with Charlotte. That leaves Lily, Ami, and (y/n) to share a room. Roderich will hand out your room keys so you can drop your luggage off."
You were handed your room key, but Roderich's hand had brushed against yours lightly. Why did your face feel so hot? Yeah, he was kind of attractive, but you couldn't like him like that, could you? You sighed and shook off your emotions before heading to your room with Lily and Amilia. You dropped your stuff off in your room before locking it and heading back to the bus. Alfred announced that you'd all be going to dinner first, and then you would be going to St. Stephan's Cathedral for a tour. You ended up sitting next to Roderich on the bus with Alfred in front of you.
It was an uncomfortable silence you had with Roderich, but you couldn't blame him for not talking. He seemed like he did this sort of thing a lot and didn't have a good experience the last time, but that was just what you picked up from the vibes he was giving off. You decided to not push your luck by making any unwanted conversation with him.
Dinner was calm and delicious as you ate at a restaurant with live music. Roderich seemed to loosen up during this time and ended up enjoying himself at the cathedral. Despite it being a church and you having two atheists within your group, everyone had a good time marveling at the architecture. You spent two hours in the cathedral before deciding to call it a night and return to the hotel. Everyone bid each other a good night and headed to their respective rooms to sleep the night away, knowing that they'd have to be up at seven-thirty to have breakfast before starting their first full day in Austria.
