Peter's 3rd POV
———-
Peter woke up to an odd feeling. Someone was... fondling his... hair? What? Peter, being very confused as to what was happening, kept his eyes close and his breathing as even as possible in an attempt to make it look like he was still asleep. It must have worked because the hand kept stroking his head.

He took a moment to figure out where he was. He felt a thin blanket, a sheet maybe, on him. He also felt himself laying on a bed with his head on a pillow. The bed and pillow didn't feel the same as his old, but comfortable, bed and pillow. They felt... unused almost, stiff. The bed was in good shape, but not very comfortable. It felt like a.... hospital bed....

Then it hit him, Peter realized that he was still in the bottom half of his suit. But... if he was still in his suit, how was a hand touching his... oh no... his mask.

Peter's eyes flew open and he jumped up. He landed on the ceiling, but immediately regretted his actions. He gasped as his only-half-healed wounds flared in pain. His vision blurred and his mind got foggy. He lost his grip on the ceiling and fell. Instead of landing on the bed, Peter hit the side of it before hitting the ground and landing face first.

He groaned and laid perfectly still. He didn't want to hurt himself anymore. The only thought going through his mind was, 'owwww'. He groaned again as he moved his arms into a position that relieved him of some pain.

He stayed like that for moment until he felt a hand on his back. He jumped back and scooted up against the wall opposite the bed. Peter's breathing was fast and uneven. He still couldn't really focus on anything. He still didn't know who was in the room with him. He did vaguely register that it was a man and that he was coming towards him. Peter pressed himself even more up against the wall, if that was even possible. He felt his breathing quicken. This seemed to happen a lot to him lately.

Peter flinched and squeezed his eyes shut when he saw the man raise his hand out of the corner of his eyes. He stiffened in preparation of a slap or punch. It never came. He froze when he felt a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, Peter! Calm down kid! It's just me! Tony!" Peter couldn't help but flinch at the use of his name. He wasn't supposed to hear it in costume. It was just... wrong. He had worked so hard to keep it a secret. Hearing someone say it like they had known him for years was something he had worked so hard to prevent. He should have tried harder.

Peter opened his eyes and slowly looked over at who claimed to be Tony. He forced his fuzzy mind to focus. Sure enough, Tony Stark was crouched down in front of him. Peter opened his mouth slightly but didn't say anything.

Tony didn't need him to say anything though, he knew what he was asking. "Your at the tower kid, we brought you here after the fight in the clock tower. We did a background check on you. I'm so sorry kid." Tony said sadly.

Peter blinked. His eyes widened. Everything came back to him. The clock tower. Harry. The Rhino. The Avengers. The fighting. Doc Ock. And... Aunt May.

His face went blank. His mouth moved a little but nothing came out. No... nononono! He didn't catch her. He failed. She... she fell. He... oh god... Peter had let the last person he cared about fall...

How could he have done that? They were all gone now...

"I'm all alone." Came Peter's barley audible whisper as his eyes set on something behind Tony, something that want actually there.

Tony sent him a pitying look. "No your not." Peter barley registered his words. It didn't matter what he said. His Aunt was gone and it was his fault. All his fault... god, he was such a failure. Such a disappointment.

Peter froze as he hugged him. Peter just stared blankly at the wall on the other side of the room, still not fully comprehending what had happened. A single tear fell down his face as he thought about his parents. He thought about Uncle Ben, his love, Gwen, his broken best friend Harry, and his beloved Aunt May, even Captain Stacey. They were all gone... and he was alone, and it was all his fault.

Peter wanted to cry... no... he wanted to breakdown like a teenage girl after her first real breakup, but he wasn't going to cry in front of any of the Avengers. Not after what they did to him. Not after what he did. Tony pulled away and opened his mouth to say something but was interrupted by J.A.R.V.I.S.

"Sorry to interrupt sir, but Mr. Rogers has asked me to inform you that dinner is ready." Came his cool British accent. After a moment of awkward silence between the two, Tony rubbed his hands together and cleared his throat. "Right then, dinner?" Tony stood up and started moving towards the door. He stopped when he realized that a certain teenager wasn't following him.

"You comin' kid?" Tony asked him. After getting no response, he walked back over to him. He sighed. "Look kid, I know your going through a tough time, but at least come and eat. I would rather not have you starve to death."

Peter looked up at him. His denial was replaced with anger. 'A tough time? A tough time!? How dare he say that? He had just lost the last person he had ever cared about and it was my fault. I failed EVERYONE!' Peter screamed in his head. But, couldn't find the will to say his thoughts out loud. Instead, he started to get up, but he felt numb. He could barley move. He wasn't completely sure why he was still even trying.

He grunted as a fresh wave of pain went through him causing his legs to give out. The pain was the only thing he could feel. Guess those hits he took were a lot worse than he thought, but he welcomed the pain. He deserved it. He deserved to be punished for his failure.

"I'll be right back." Peter watched as Tony ran out of the room. He contented himself with staring at the wall mourning his loved ones while he waited for him to return.

After a few minutes, Tony returned pushing something very familiar. Shooby Dooby Steamroller.

"I know that you might not wanna be stuck in a wheelchair again, but you took some nasty hits kid. Your lucky you have enhanced healing, which is awesome by the way. Now hop in." Tony moved to lock the chairs wheels in place to make it easier for Peter to get in. It was obvious he didn't want help.

It took a few tries, but peter finally managed to hoist himself up. He begrudgingly allowed Tony to push him. He tried to keep his face as emotionless as possible as they started the journey to the communal floor.
~~~lololo~~~
Peter stared blankly at Tony when he stopped in front of a very unfamiliar door. It was definitely not the elevator. The door was a deep, chestnut brown color with a golden colored doorknob. It was very different form all of the other doors in the tower.
Peter quickly turned his dead gaze to the door when Tony turned around and smirked at him. He opened the door and motioned for peter to enter. He wheeled slowly to the doorway and froze. It was a bed room. But the room wasn't like the guest room Peter had used. This room had light blue walls, a white carpet, a master bed with four pillows, a red quilt, and some other blankets on it. There was also one nightstand on either side of the bed, a lamp on both of them, and some other personal things and furniture around the room. "Is this..." peter trailed off quietly.
"Yup." Tony said popping the 'p' "This is mine and Pep's room." He sounded very proud. Tony then proceeded to usher Peter inside. "Sit on the bed or something kid, I'll be back in a minute." Tony said before he walked into what Peter assumed was a walk in closet. He didn't move from his chair.
A minute later, Tony walked back out with a pair of gray sweatpants and a black, AC/DC sweatshirt. Tony frowned upon seeing him still in the wheelchair but didn't say anything. Tony held the clothes out to Peter. He just stared at them. "I'm guessing that you might wanna change out of that spandex." Tony said. Peter looked at him. He inwardly sighed in defeat. Tony was right. Spandex got uncomfortable after awhile and his only 'shirt' was a thick layer of bandages. Peter just grabbed them with one hand and waited. Tony raised and dropped his eyebrows before walking out.
Petey and a bit of the others
———
The elevator ride was short and kind of awkward. Peter didn't care. He just stared blankly at the doors the whole ride. He barley even registered Tony's frequent glances. Usually, the glances would have made him nervous or insecure, but now, they just made him feel like more of a failure.
He had failed to save his parents. If he hadn't called his dad into his 'office', they wouldn't have left.
He failed to save his Uncle. If he hadn't have been so selfish and had just stopped the thief, Ben wouldn't have been shot.
He failed to save Doctor Connors. If he would have just checked the calculations, he wouldn't have become a monster.
He failed to save Captain Stacey. If he had tried harder, he would have been able to web him to safety.
He failed Electro and Harry. If he had just remembered Max, he wouldn't have become a villain. If he had explained to Harry why he couldn't give him his blood, he wouldn't have taken the Green Goblin Serum. He wouldn't have gone insane and killed... either of... them.
He failed Gwen and Aunt May. If he had been faster, he could have caught them. If he had kept Gwen out of it, like he promised Captain Stacey, she wouldn't have been at the tower. If he had told Aunt May who he really was, she would have been better prepared for what happened.
He failed the people of New York. He failed all of those people he couldn't pull out of the way in time because he was too slow, or couldn't catch in time. He was hunted down by the Avengers for the gods sakes! JJJ was right. He was a menace.
Peter's head snapped up when he felt someone tap his shoulder. He immediately recoiled from the touch. He turned to look at tony wide eyed. "You ok kid?" He asked softly. Peter realized that a few tears had started to fall and that more were on the way. He quickly wiped his eyes and sniffed. He nodded his head a little and looked at the floor. He felt Tony's gaze linger on him for another moment before there was a light 'ping'. The elevator doors slid open. They had arrived. Peter let out an internal sigh and tried to make his face an emotionless mask again. He did pretty well considering the events that had transpired not too long ago.
The two walked out of the elevator-well, peter was pushed out-and everyone stopped what they were doing, even Captain America, and he was cooking, and turned to stare at him. He did his best to ignore their looks of worry and pity. He didn't want either of those. Especially not from the Avengers.
Peter was a little relieved when Bruce came over to him. He gave peter a soft, sad little smile. Peter made eye contact with the man. But only for a brief second.
Mr. I'm-Always-Angry
—-
For Bruce, that brief second was enough to see the broken look in the boys eyes. He felt a pang of sadness for the kid but acted friendly. He clearly didn't want them to pity him. But just because he wasn't going to pity him, that didn't mean he wasn't going to worry about him.
Bruce pushed peter over to the table and they took their usual seats. At first, Peter was a bit hesitant, but he didn't put up a fight. He just kind of...sat there. The sight of the broken boy really saddened Bruce. A kid his age should be out with friends having fun, not swinging around in spandex saving people, and definitely not mourning the loss of his last loved one.
Bruce wanted to hug the kid and tell him everything was going to be all right and that it was ok. But he didn't. Everything wasn't alright and it probably wouldn't be ok. So, he talked quietly to him about random things. Even though Peter wasn't looking at Bruce, he knew he was listening and Bruce was fine with that. He talked about random things, successfully distracting Peter, until Steve brought out the food.
Back to Pete
——-
Peter listened to Bruce chatter on about random stuff. He welcomed the distraction. It also helped that he kind of liked Bruce. He was always kind to him. He felt almost.... safe around Bruce... almost.
Peter was listening so intently to Bruce that he jumped a little bit when Steve announced that dinner was ready. He had forgotten that they weren't the only ones there. He ignored the glances from the other Avengers and stared blankly at the wall as he waited for Bruce to bring both of their plates back. Normally, Peter didn't like when people did things for him, but allowed Bruce to get him his food. He couldn't find it in himself to wheel over and get it.
Peter flinched slightly as Bruce placed his food and silverware in front of him. He had zoned out again. He glanced over at the scientist briefly in thanks (he didn't need to say anything, the two just understood each other like that) and stared back down at his food. He couldn't eat it. It was spaghetti. The last meal his aunt had made for the both of them.
Spaghetti nights were special for them. Those nights only came once a year. They ate it the night before Uncle Ben's birthday. It was Ben's favorite meal. They always did that. They ate the birthday boy/girl's favorite meal the night before their birthday. They always had. They even did it with Harry, since his parents barley ever acknowledged his existence, and with Gwen. Peter couldn't eat this. It's wasn't his Uncle's birthday. His aunt hadn't even made it. The thought of eating it made him sick.
As everyone else ate, he just stared at the food. He didn't even allow himself to think. He knew that if he did, he wouldn't be able to keep up him emotionless demeanor. And he was not going to allow them to see his pain. He never would. No matter how much it hurt, he wouldn't let them know. Peter knew it wasn't healthy to do that, but he doubted anyone else would cry in front of the people that helped get their last relative killed. So, he didn't care about how bad it was, or how many problems it might cause him later on. He would swing across that bridge when it came to it.
All Avenger's POV
—————
Steve scrunched up his eyebrows when he realized Peter wasn't eating. Whether it was he did it from confusion or worry, Steve didn't know. It was probably a mix of both, but that don't matter. Right now, the only thing that mattered was the kid. He had just gone through something very traumatic and needed people there to be for him. He needed to know that they, or at least Steve, was there for him.
"Hey Peter, is something wrong with the food?" He asked quietly. Everyone else turned to look at him, just now realizing that he wasn't eating. He twisted his lips in worry when the kid didn't even acknowledge him.
"Peter?" He tried again, but to no avail. The kid was lost in a world of his own and Steve, weather for better or for worse, feared that he knew what that world was.
Steve was about to get up and walk over to him when Peter's shook his head. "May I be excused?" His voice was just above a whisper and cracked at the end of his sentence.
No one said anything. None of them knew who Peter was talking to. He still hadn't looked up.
"Uh...yeah." Steve said quietly. Peter just nodded slightly and wheeled away from the table. Everyone watched quietly as he wheeled down the hall to, most likely, the room he used last time he stayed at the tower.
Tony stood up to follow him.
"Tony, give him some space. He needs to be alone right now." Natasha said, eyes glued to the now empty hall. She was the first to go back to eating. One by one, the others joined her.
Ok. I'm gonna end it here for now. I just really need to get a chapter out.
Can you guys give me some ideas of what I can do with this? I didn't really plan this far ahead and am running out of ideas and inspiration. But please PM me if you have any ideas.
Until next time.
