Chapter Five
*Rough Draft*
I wake up to the sound of someone giggling in my ear. I slowly lift my eyes open to see Blake staring up at me, his bright green eyes creased in a smile.
"Good morning Blake," I mutter, and then realize I'm still in his bed since last evening.
I sit up, taking a look around me: lush carpet, expensive bedspread, and an assortment of kiddy toys and stuffed animals. Yep, I was definitely still in the Right mansion.
"C'mon, Ms. Brea let's go have breakfast!" Blake said enthusiastically as he pulls on my sleeve.
"We need to wash up, Blake," I tell him, looking at the bathroom door connected to the room. I take his hand, pulling us off the bed and grab my cell phone on my way.
I flick on the lights and shove my phone into my pocket so I can lift Blake onto the sink.
"Are there any spare toothbrushes?" I ask him. Blake nods and points to a cabinet. I open it and gasp. Inside, are dozens of toothbrushes. But they weren't your normal toothbrushes. They were the $40 apiece toothbrushes you see on TV.
I take one and use some of Blake's Spiderman toothpaste since it was the only one there was.
After getting washed, I lift Blake off the counter. He runs out of the room, screaming out "good morning" to nobody in particular. I take the time to quickly glance down at my phone. It read 8% charge and 6:07 a.m. It was a wonder I wasn't tired at all.
"Ms. Brea, hurry!" Blake shouted from the end of the hall.
"Shhh!" I whisper loudly, realizing Will was probably still in bed at this hour. And if he knew I was still here...
I crept slowly after Blake, making sure my footsteps didn't echo in the silent hall, leaving the toothbrush I used on the countertop.
"Brea?"
I freeze and turn to see Will standing at the doorway –of his room?– with his hands busy putting on his tie. It was only six in the morning but he was looking fine in his black suit.
"Good morning," I said meekly. I was so not used to seeing a hot guy this early.
"I'm hoping you slept well," he replied with a small smile. I open my mouth to speak but I'm cut off.
"Ms. Brea!"
"I'm coming, Blake!" I shout. I give Will a small wave and rush after Blake's voice.
I enter another dining hall, I'm guessing for breakfast, where Blake is already seated. I sit down beside him and the memory of our last meal together rushes back. I frown at the platters of food the cooks bring but Blake didn't seem fazed at all.
Despite my worries, I couldn't help but drool a bit. There was just so much to choose from! Toast, muffins, pancakes, waffles, crepes, you name it and it was there. There were all sorts of jams and syrups with it as well: chocolate, maple, honey, blueberry, and grape. I was full just looking at the selection!
When I noticed Blake had taken a heap of pancakes lathered in syrup and two chocolate chip muffins, I take a few pancakes off his plate.
He turns to me, eyes wide.
"That's mine!"
"Blake, you shouldn't eat so much," I scolded. "You don't want another tummy ache." He frowns but doesn't say anything else.
Just then, Will walks into the room and takes a seat beside me like there weren't any other chairs to choose from on the mile-long table. I immediately tense at his closeness.
But after a minute or two, I start to relax. Will is quiet for the most part and I was too busy mopping Blake's face from all the syrup that he was spilling. Who knew dining with a millionaire could feel so normal?
"Brea," I hear Will say.
"Hmm?" I turn around to face him and nearly collide with his face. My cheeks flare up as I move slightly back.
"I was wondering when your college classes start," he says, smiling a bit. Hearing him ask I immediately remember Audrey and Ryan's call last night about coming home by dinnertime.
"Next week," I say and grab my phone with sticky fingers to call them, but the screen was black.
"Need to make a phone call?" Will asks, pulling out his phone. Embarrassingly I nod. He starts to hand me the phone and then thinks better of it. He unlocks his phone – oddly slow enough for me to catch his password – and quickly dials Audrey's number, holding it to my ear.
I bit my lip as I wait for Audrey to pick up, feeling Will's intent stare on me. I could barely think straight with him looking at me like that. Finally, Audrey picks up.
"Mr. Right," I hear her say a little groggily.
I swallow. "Hey, Audrey, it's me, Brea." I pause before I go on. "My phone's dead so I couldn't call you. I just wanted to let you know I stayed at the Right's house last night. Something came up." I hear Audrey sigh.
"It's no problem, dear. That wonderful chauffeur notified us. But thanks for calling."
"Sorry for calling so early," I say sheepishly.
"It's okay. I'll see you at the daycare, yes?"
"Yep."
I nod at Will and he ends the call. Before either of us can say anything, I feel a tug on my sleeve. I turn to face Blake, noticing that the syrup I hadn't wiped away had gotten onto his shirt.
"Blake, look at you! You're all syrupy!" I exclaim. He giggles. "Come, you need to change."
I take his hand and stand up. Knowing I don't know my way back, Will gets up too and shows me the way. He rummages through Blake's wardrobe while I get Blake and I washed up.
Setting him on the bed, I start taking off Blake's shirt. He starts to fidget and pulling on his shirt with his head facing away from me. I can only grin at his embarrassment. The moment his shirt is off, Blake jumps off the bed and starts running around, avoiding me.
It was silly of me, but I chase after him, cutting corners to trap him. It wasn't until I gave up, sitting down on the carpeted floor breathing heavily with Blake sitting on my lap, that Will cleared his throat, trying to catch my attention.
"C'mon Blake," I say, blushing, and stand up. I take the red shirt Will offered me and get Blake to put it on.
Once done, Blake grabs my hand. "Let's play outside!"
Before I can answer, Will speaks.
"Sorry, Blake. Ms. Brea has to get some work done with daddy." I do? Hearing it, Blake pouts.
"But I want to play with her!"
"I'll get Pierre, Blake, he'll play with you."
I awkwardly stand between the two. Should I go for the unofficial date with Will or the nice play date with Blake? Great. And why did it seem like they fighting for me anyway?
