Chapter 1

Peter had a great day. He didn't miss the bus in the morning, Flash didn't pick on him as much, there wasn't much homework. Now at home, he went patrolling as Spider-Man and caught many bad guys. One of them tried stealing a woman's bag, another attempted to steal a car. All was great that day.

It was almost 6pm and Peter was hanging out on top of a roof of a building, munching on a sandwich a elder lady gave him.

"Hey Karen, is there anything going on?" He asked the AI system.

"Yes, four blocks down. A robbery at 7/11 with already injuries of victims." Karen responded.

"On it!" Peter shoved the sandwich in his mouth and put his mask back over his mouth. He flew from building to building as fast as he could, to one, make sure no one died, and two, cause he liked the feeling.

"I swear to god, if you don't give me all the money and all the cigarettes here I'll kill you! You saw what I just to them!" A man shouted. Peter couldn't get a picture of his face, since he was hiding around the corner. He crept in the gas station and went around the back, to avoid being caught.

"Karen, what should I do?" He whispered.

"I advise you get the weapon from him first, then web him up by his legs and arms." Peter took that advice and moved closer to the man. He held out his arm and shot a web at the gun, flinging it back at him. He threw it up at the ceiling and webbed it stuck.

"So, you thought you could get away? Yeah, well spidey is here so I don't think your plan worked out." Peter found using sarcasm and snarky comments was one of his best ways of distracting the villains.

"Oh please, I got enough done. Look around!" The man shouted. Peter moved out to see there bodies laying on the group, all with blood pooling around. He didn't know any of them but wait... May.

"Fuck!" He yelled out in anger. He shot out so many webs at the killer, causing him to fall.

"May! Wake up! Please!" Peter cried out, kneeling next to her. He threw off his mask, knowing he would regret it later.

"Peter.." she coughed with a raspy voice.

"May! Oh thank god! I hear the sirens! Please stay awake for me! I love you so much." He held her bloody hand, with tears running down his cheek.

"Oh Petey, I love you too. But," she coughed, "I am so sorry if I leave." Her eyes began to close.

"No! May! Please!" Peter cried while shaking her slightly. He started sobbing, crying, yelling. Hoping she wasn't going to leave. He could still feel a faint heartbeat. Police cars and ambulances began to pull up, with people running out. Paramedics pushed away peter from his aunt, to allow her on the stretcher. They didn't even notice, or care that Spider-Man was right there. The professionals were shouting things peter didn't understand. Special codes and words too big for his vocabulary.

Peter was sitting against a fridge in the gas station staring at the bloody spot May laid. His mask was still on the floor. At this point, it didn't bother him if his identity was revealed, all he wanted was to know if his aunt was okay.

"Hey, kid." A voice said from above Peter. He slowly looked up and saw his mentor, Tony Stark standing next to him.

"You need this?" He handed Peter his mask and he slowly grabbed it. Tony sat next to the kid and said nothing.

"Will she be okay?" Peter asks, breaking the silence.

"I don't know." Tony wrapped his around Peter and the younger one laid his head on Tonys shoulder, with small tears running down his face.

They sat like that for a while. A police officer came in every now and then, checking up on whatever. The captain tried to talk to Peter, a main witness, about what happened. Peter just shrugged and mumbled something that was like 'I don't know'.

"Do you want to head to the facility? Get you cleaned up?" Tony suggested.

"I guess, but May,"

"I know Pete, I know what you're going through. Right know, we should clean you up." Peter nodded and Tony gave him his jacket. They snuck out of the gas station and into Tonys car. Peter sat in the front seat, resting his head on the window. He stared out the window, looking back at the crime scene he could have easily stopped. How he could have avoided the fact that his aunt could be dead or dying.

Tony was quiet the whole ride, respecting the kid and only talking to the kid when he wanted to be talked to. That's how he was treated when his parents died, so using the same techniques others used on him, may be easier to help Peter cope and understand.

They pulled up to the Avengers Facility. The time was almost 7:30pm, yet it was already dark out. They parked in the garage, and walked in the building. After walking through security, they went onto the elevators, to take Peter to his room, completely avoiding the other Avengers.

"Alright kid, you know where all your things are, why don't you take a shower and maybe come down, or get rest. Do what you feel comfortable doing." Peter nodded and walked into his bathroom. He stood in the mirror, looking at his face. His eyes were red and his face was pale. He slowly slipped off the suit and went into the steamy shower. Most of the time he was showering, he wasn't actually cleaning himself. He was just standing there, thinking of so many things, letting the water run down his face and chest.

It took about thirty minutes, but he managed to get out of the shower. He dried himself off and put on a pair of sweats and a hoodie. His hair was still soaked, but he decided to go to bed. There was no use to seeing the Avengers. They would just say 'sorry' and hug him, and give him pity. All he wanted was May. He wondered where she could be. What she was doing. Was she in surgery? Was she alive, waiting to see me? Or was she dead, and the doctors waiting to tell me the news? The thought of May I general, created tears. His vision blurred as he sat up in his bed. He tucked his head into his knees and he sobbed. He blankets were soaked in that one area and his body shaked.

Footsteps approached his door as a knock echoed his quiet room.

"Mm?" Peter mumbled. Tony entered the room to see the broken boy. He was so used to Peter being so positive and happy and having a giant smile across his face. Now, he was torn to pieces and his expression was expressionless, but pain hid behind the nothingness.

"Pete, I am so sorry." Tony sat next to the teen and hugged him tightly.

"So am I." Peter whispered.

"Hey, no, no, none of this is your fault. Nothing is your fault." Peter nodded, although all he felt was guilt. He felt guilty for everything that happened with his aunt. Felt guilty for not giving more attention to the other shot victims. Felt guilty for not getting there faster, to save everyone, in general.

"She isn't gone, has the hospital called you?" Peter asked hopefully, denying the worst.

"Oh Peter, I haven't got any calls. She was shot pretty bad, we don't know if she will survive." Tony rubbed small circles on Peters back.

"B-but you can! You're the Avengers! You can save everyone!" It broke Tonys heart to see how much Peter was trying to deny the fact his aunt would be dead.

Tony did actually end up getting a call a few minutes before, telling the death of May. Obviously, he couldn't break the news to Peter right now.

"I'm sorry kid, I know what you're going through, but I know you're strong and you can make it through." Those encouraging words calmed Peter down. His breathing slowed and the tears didn't fall as fast, but he was still shaking.

"Let's watch a movie, c'mon." Tony began to sit up, a weak hand pulled him, keeping him from leaving.

"Don't leave." Peter whispered. Tony nodded slowly and went back to his spot he was previously in.

"You want to watch a movie in here?" He asked.

"Yeah, just don't leave." Peter looking so miserable and broken, made Tony feel just as upset.

"Friday, play in Jurassic Park with Netflix." Tony said out into the room. The TV hooked up on the wall illuminated. It loaded, the movie was playing. The lights have already dimmed down to 15%. Peter was more laid out under the blankets, Tony beside him. Their heads were perched up on the headboard, with pillows.

Peter was so much more calmed down by the movie marked halfway. He was also terribly tired. Every time he blinked, his body tried to keep the eyelids closed. After many minutes of battling against his body, he finally gave up. The moment he closed his eyes, he fell in a deep sleep right away. Tony didn't notice Peter asleep for a while, until his head fell onto his shoulder. Tony commanded Friday to pause the movie. As the room quieted, Tony carefully moved peters body and pillow, to lay him out more comfortably. Peter stirred at first, moving his body around. While watching Peter sleep, Tony felt a wave of relief, knowing this is the first time Peter had found peace since the accident. Although the chances of him experiencing nightmares tonight were high, Tony kissed the teens forehead and left the room.

I am actually really proud of this chapter! I hope you like it ❤️ even though there are millions of stories with this same plot and things like that.
