Saved... For Now.
"Seems unusual for you to be visiting me. Especially in this time of day." I remark as I warmly welcomed who else other than my stalker.
"Can't I worry about the friend of my friend?" He smirks while approaching me in a delinquent-like manner.
"Heh. You should worry about that said friend first. Isn't she going to eat with Bill as usual?" I snarkily replied, copying his smirk.
"Don't worry, Michael can handle that." He stops in his track and sits down on the chair next to the bed. "What happened? And after I courteously visited your distant relatives."
"Courteously? Ha! The most courteous thing you did was stalking me without getting caught!"
"Did they do something to you?"
He completely ignored my statement, going ahead to ask a question irrelevant to the said statement.
"What makes you say that? The air conditioner was just set to a lower temperature than usual." I made an obvious excuse, although I think Arden would still buy that easily.
"So it was like Mary Jane said..." Arden thinks as he puts his finger on his chin while tilting his head up. "But Simon says otherwise."
His words make me want to bite my tongue in anger. He's full of nothing but suspicion and doubt towards me! What did I do that made him act this way towards me?
"You know..." He starts, playing around his fingers. "I thought you were the one who attacked Marie that time. Your stature just gave it away. And now you have done all you can to save her, probably because of your guilt and consciousness eating you away. So I had to make sure. I had to make sure that my eyes weren't deceiving me..."
He paused for a moment, fixing his sitting position on his chair. "Well," he sighs. "Your relatives removed my doubts temporarily. They said you never went out of the house, no wig, no military-like uniform, nothing that can make you look like the one I saw that time. So this time, I'm going to give up on you."
He stands up from his seat and walked to the exit without so much as a glance over his shoulder.
I feel a tremendous fear. It wasn't the fear that I got from Arden as he questions my identity at that time. More importantly, what was he doing in a place like that at that time? But still, the fear comes from the person from the abandoned building across the school, targeting me if ever I've been caught. I might have been bugged or stalked, and he could hear what I hear, see exactly where I am, and he's using this to his advantage. If ever I fail, he would instantly kill me. I escaped from the Johnson family's murder merely a breath away. Who knew it would come biting me in the back?
"Here's your well-balanced meal, Miss Queen. They planned this to be the finest meal they could do." Simon entered while holding a tray with a plate of rice, meat, fruits and vegetables, and a glass of milk.
He delivered it to me like how a waiter would, mocking and smirking at me because of how I'm being treated.
Speaking of which, I think this is the first time I actually saw him without his hoodie on.
"You should get better, Missy. We're going to a school trip soon." He sits down on the chair that Arden was sitting on, displaying a rather pleasant and excited smile at me. It was a rare sight. Rare enough to make me confused for a moment, but it was not that rare enough for me to hate it.
