Chapter 45
Chapter 45- Voices in Your Head

You kept on walking, through a dark abyss. You didn't know where you were going, but you had a feeling that you had to keep walking.
"How long until I make it through the darkness?" You mumbled, until you saw figures up in the distance.
Your squinted your eyes to try and see what they were, and them broke into a smile.
"Ma!! Da!! Aunties, Uncles!!" You called you, tears filling up in your eyes to see them again.
"(Y/N)!!" Ma and Da turned to you, running towards you as you ran too.
"I'm home!! I'm back home Ma!! Da!!" You cried, continuing to run, until you suddenly stopped. You turned around, suddenly seeing some weird shadows coming towards you, more specifically your family.
"Watch out!!" You roared, and immediately, seeing a looming and towering shadow behind you, and lunged at you. You transformed into your dragon form, and used your paws and strength to push it back, hearing your family roar and blasting the shadows.
You gritted your teeth, trying to use all your strength into pushing this force away.
"I'm the next Alpha, I'm the next guardian of the Hidden World, I will protect everyone!!" You strained out, claws digging into the ground, pushing you back slightly.
"(Y/N)!! Help!!" Your eyes widened, turning your head to see the darkness cornering your family. First went Uncle Skullcrusher, then Uncle Grump.
Then went Meatlug, Hookfang, Barf and Bletch, Meatlug, and Stormfly.
"No!!" You roared, but felt your arms tense and be filled with pain. You saw Cloudjumper spread his wings to try and fly, but the darkness burst upwards and grabbed him, consuming him entirely.
"(Y/N), don't break! Don't fall!!" You heard your Da shout, shooting the darkness with plasma.
"Yer the strong one (Y/N), ye carry the family burden!!" Your Ma called out to you.
Just then, the shadows grew bigger, and covered your parents, making your heart stop.
"Ma!! Da!!" You cried out, and saw three more small figures in the middle.
"Why did ye leave (Y/N)?! Why couldn't ye stay and protect us?!" Pouncer shouted, tears in his eyes.
"I wanted!! I-I had to!! B-but-!" You stammered, and hissed in pain at the sudden pressure against your arms again.
"If ye couldn't protect us, what is even yer purpose as an Alpha!!" Dart angrily said, hugging her brothers.
Lastly, Ruffrunner. He gave you a look of betrayal, which made your heart sink at his expression, tears filling his eyes.
"I'm scared (Y/N)!! Ye promised!! Ye promised!!" He sobbed, with the shadows finally consuming your siblings.
"N-No!! Please!!" You started to shake, choking out a sob as the shadows circled you, looking over you, and has whispers all around.
'You're weak,'
'What's the point of being an Alpha if you leave your family?'
'You can't handle the pressure of these expectations,'
'You're going to fail,'
'And when you do,'
'Your family will die,'
'Your friends will die,'
'You're home will fall,'
'And it'll be all your fault!!'
"NO!!!"

Knock
Knock
Izuku groggily woke up, checking to see that it was four in the morning.
'Who is...?' He got up from his bed, and trudged through his room, opening the door to reveal you, blanket wrapped around you, holding your Ryukyu plush.
That made him stammer and blush again.
"(Y-Y-Y/N)?! W-what are you doing here?! You should be sleeping!! And at my r-room door!! A-a-and-!!" Izuku then trailed off, seeing you start to shake, and squeeze your plush tightly.
"(Y/N)...?" He whispered now, placing a hand on your shoulder, and you pulled him into a hug, quietly letting tears out.
"Zuku..." You choked out, hugging him tighter as he quickly patted you on the back, trying to calm you down.
"Hey, hey, it's okay. You need to breathe (Y/N), or you're going to hyperventilate," He quietly said, taking you inside his room and closed the door. He set you down on the bed while you eventually calmed down, but was still hiccuping.
"Tell me what happened? Did you get scared?" He asked gently, making sure not to touch you so you won't panic again. You wiped tears away and took a deep breath.
"I... I-I had a nightmare..." You managed to say, and hiccuped from the crying.
Izuku hummed, listening to your voice.
"A-about my family, and they were being attacked, a-and I couldn't s-save them..." You choked out. You costumed to mumbled and cry about the dream, where Izuku listened and soothed you through it.
"I sometimes envy ye, Zuku," You finally said, causing him to freeze.
"What...?" He asked you, but you shook your head.
"That d-doesn't mean I hate ye. I just... we are on different paces, that's all," You reassured him, making his shoulders relax a little, but was worried about your mindset.
"Ye have everything cut out to you. Ye have a mentor who will be there for ye, a mother who will protect ye, and friends who have yer back. I-I left all of those b-behind... because I was selfish," You hiccuped and ears twitched because of the amount of crying you had.
"Even if we have t-the same goal, ye seem to be reaching for it farther than I am... yer more closer t-to be a hero, t-than me being a-an alpha," You confessed, feeling guilty for the envious emotion inside you.
"I won't be an Alpha. I won't be what the dragons say I'll be. I-I'm... weak..." You said, barely a whisper, but Izuku heard you. It broke his heart hearing you so vulnerable, feeling this low because of what you been through.
"Hey," Izuku placed a hand on your head, where he slightly stroked the strands of the hair was was sticking up. You didn't flinch that time, so that was a sign for him that you're getting a little better.
"Don't you ever put yourself down like that. You're not weak, you never were," You looked at him, where he held a gently smile, and a reassuring look.
"But... being a Fury means to be s-strong and resilient. I-I was none of those during t-the camp," You sniffed.
"You had no idea the advantage the villains, you didn't know about the Deathgripper venom darts," He reassured you, and slowly, but gently, rubbed your back.
"I had selfish thoughts too, but that doesn't mean I'm a bad person. Everyone has those thoughts, and that's what makes us to be human-er... dragons in your case," He tilted his head a little, making you smile a little.
"The point is, it's that just because you left your home, doesn't mean you failed at being an alpha. You said yourself that you came here to be just like your dad, and be just like him, right?" He asked you quietly, slowly draping his blanket onto you.
"Yeah?" You mumbled out, slowly laying down against the pillow, pulling your Ryukyu plush to your chin.
"What did he do exactly?" Izuku questioned, letting you release your feelings and venting.
"W-well... he made allies with humans. A-and he stopped b-bad humans. A-and he brought pe-peace with humans a-and dragons," You said through hiccups, but felt calm now.
"And what did you do?" He smiled.
"... Made allies with humans... and stopped bad humans..." You spoke, and gave him a smile back.
"I think you're closer to be an alpha like your dad more than you think. And that's because," He wiped the tears away from your face with his thumb.
"We had each other to push and help each other to be who we wanted to be," He told you, and that made you feel something inside your stomach.
'What... is this...?' You thought, but then Izuku picked up a All Might lamp nearby and turned it on.
"This used to help me sleep as a kid, I hope this would help you sleep too," He whispered.
"I'll sleep at the couch in the common area. You sleep well," Izuku said, and turned to leave, but you quickly grabbed his arm tightly, but loosened when you realized it.
"Don't... please don't leave," You pleaded, and he paused, a little nervous for him to share a bed with you, but saw your vulnerable state, so he pushed away his awkwardness and nodded.
You shuffled for him to lay next to you, and you wrapped your tail around his leg.
"Thank you... for letting me give out this... vulnerability," You whispered.
"Anytime. It's all for you," He smiled, which made your ears twitch, and felt your face feel hot.
"Zuku..." You whispered, leaning in close, which made Izuku hitch his breath.
"Y-yeah...?" He stammered, seeing your face lean closer to his.
'This is it! It's really happening!'
"Goodnight," You mumbled, before he heard snoring. Izuku let out the breath he was holding, and felt his heart race. He closed his eyes and laid on his back, staring at the ceiling.
'I'm such an idiot,'
