Chapter 1- Tampered Introductions
Mangle laid on the floor of Kid's Cove, her right eyeball laying less than a foot away, but Mangle was too lazy to get it.
Mangle looked up lazily at the dark wall. Endo made a small noise, but Mangle ignored him. Shadows flickered onto her face, but she could care less. She could care less about everything; the kids, the adults, everything.
She lifted her head feebly and looked around. A bright, shiny poster hung on the wall, proclaiming the words 'Let's play!' in bubble letters, with her face above the words. She then looked over to an extremely shadowy part of the wall, where a poster hung in the darkness. Mangle lifted herself up and swung over to the wall and looked at the poster.
On the poster was a red fox, with bright, happy yellow eyes and a sharp, shiny silver hook, gleaming in the light. The red fox had an eye patch over his left eye, and he looked extremely happy; happier than Mangle had ever been.
Had she ever been happy? She could remember being happy, but it seemed like ages ago that she was. Now, all she ever felt was loneliness and despair. The others often tried to cheer her up, but nothing worked. The others had abandoned their attempts to cheer the sad white fox, and they had just left her to cry during the night as they hunted the night guard. Was he truly more important to them than her?
She understood, of course, that Vincent had killed many children, but still! Mangle was furious and sad that her friends cared more about hunting Vincent each night than her feelings.
She tore the poster down in a surge of anger, then fell to the floor and started to weep.
No one cared about her anymore. What was the point in living anymore? But Mangle couldn't die... she'd tried before, but nothing worked. Stabbing didn't work, tearing herself apart didn't work, nothing worked. Mangle just wallowed in her despair, wishing nothing more than to die.
"Aye, ye lass alright?" Came a rusty voice from the shadows. Mangle looked up. "Who goes there?" She croaked. "Aye, I'm Foxy lass." The voice answered. "Reveal thee!" Mangle croaked. "Reveal yeself!"
A tall, red-haired man walked out of the shadows. He was young, no doubt, yet lines carved his pale face. He had an eye patch over his left eye, and a huge chunk was missing from the right side of his head. The suit on his right ear had been torn off, revealing the endoskeleton beneath.
He had one large yellowish-green eye, which was looking at Mangle with a look of both worry and pity. He had deep red hair, which was brushed off to the right.
"Why are ye crying?" Foxy asked, bending down on one knee and bowing low. "Well, ah, ye see, I've been torn apart. Me emotional state ain't too good no more. Be thinking 'bout suicide an' all, but never accomplish nothing." Mangle explained, bowing her head sadly. "Thinking 'bout suicide? Ah, me lass, I've been through no sunshine either." Mangle looked at Foxy confusedly. "What do ye mean?"
"Well, ye see lass, I'm 'aunted by one of them missin' children, ye see. Jake's me name. I watched me friends Phoebe, Ben, Caroline, and George die, didn't I? Ar, I did, nothin' ter do 'bout it neither. It bothered me, yes, but I was too scared ter do anything. Plus, Phoebe, Ben, and Caroline ran up ter Vincent, and they got killed. Who was ter say I'd be the same? Nay, I backed into a corner, and don't count me cowardly; ye'd have done the same thing, I'd expect. I begged, but 'e killed me anyways. Then, me life was going good 'till a few days ago. Me an' me friends woke in some dark room, only ter discover we've been replaced."
Mangle looked away guiltily. She had obviously replaced Foxy, thus causing him a lot of pain.
"I'm sorry fer asking." Mangle said softly. "Ar no, it's not ye fault, now is it? Ar, it's Vincent's fault." Mangle frowned. "Of course, Vincent. Mr. Oh-I'm-Much-More-Important-Than-Mangle's-Feelings-Vincent." Mangle growled.
"Who's Mangle?" "I am."
"Ar. Sorry lass."
"No, it's alright. I just- I just- I just..."
Mangle trailed off into silence, her head bowed low and sadly.
"Can I try ter cheer ye up, lassie?"
