When we got back to the cave I put the carcass next to the fire for it to warm up. The pups sat there licking their lips and staring at the deer with their eyes wide open. I flicked Misys ear with the tip of my tail she looked up at me in confusion.

"It means you can go to eat," I told her. Missy ran over to the deer. Gibson also started to run over there but I intercepted him and he fell over. He looked up at me.

"What was that for."He asked me. I looked at him with a stern glance.

"If I have not tapped you on the ear you are not to go eat. If I am to raise you. I will do it the right way."I told him. As I finished he went back to where he had been and sat down. I waited a few moments before walking up to him and tapping his ear. He was about to dash but then he slowed down and waited for me. As I and he settled down to eat he raised his head up to the air and let out a few low notes in a howl before saying words I thought I would never hear again. The words of thanks.

"Thank you great animals of the past for giving us this prey. I hoped he had lived a good life before we took it." he finished I looked at him in surprise. He had already started eating.

"Where did you hear  those words before, "I asked him

"My mother would always recite them before we ate. Don't you say the words of thanks." He asked me. I shook my head before grabbing the antlers and pulling them off tossing them aside so I could get to the flesh down below. When we all had eaten our full I took what was left and dragged the deer hide aside to reveal a hole in the ground so I tossed it down there. When I turned back Gibson was attacking the rack of antlers while Missy was trying to tackle Gibson. I walked over very silent.

"Missy nip very gently at his heels once then run backward before leaping on top of him," I told her she looked at me then nipped his heels he turned around to nip her back but she had already pinned him down. I laughed real hard apparently Gibson didn't like getting laughed at because before I knew it I was attacked by him. I let myself go limp to let him think he had won but then lashed out with my paws grabbing him and flipping him over.

"It seems you guys need some training in fighting. It time to get to bed if you go know well go to a clearing in the woods so you can meet a few of my friends and then we can work on fighting." They both hesitated before saying yes and then lying down. I lyed down next to them and was soon fast asleep. I woke up to the smell of something burning. I looked down at Missy and Gibson they were both still sleeping so I decided to leave them there and go explore for my self. As I got to the opening of my den I saw smoke then turned around to wake up the pups.
