Darren
Behold Jack Fucking Frost. My hair is among the many things that I am currently hating. And now it is on display for everyone to see. I notice a few people glancing back and forth at me and Mara, and a few just looking at me. My Plan of doing whatever the hell I want is going well. I could skip school but I want everyone to know that I'm here. This is me, and I'm not sorry. I think next I'm going to be a show off. Children of the Corn Math should be easier than the math I'm used to. I started Looking around. This class was more than half girls, and I have X-Ray Vision. You can imagine what happened next. The teacher began teaching, and I tried to ignore the lesson the best I could, but math was something I hadn't done since before my parents died, and I missed it. I paid more attention to the lecture than I intended to, and I couldn't help myself when she started working example problems.
"Alright, do example two in your notebook." Mrs. Davenport told us, and wrote the example on the board. I watched intently as she copied it from the book.
"X is Nineteen." I blurted out as soon as she finished writing the problem. The whole class turned and looked at me, then back at Mrs. Davenport for validation. She stood stunned for a few seconds, and then glanced down at her book, and then back at me. "That's right." She said. I smiled. She looked as if she was about to ask me something, but didn't, and turned back to the board. I lounged in my seat, aware of the eyes on me.
She started writing something on the board: another problem. "Example three is on the next page." She stated. "Y to the ninth power." I called out, almost immediately. Again, the whole class stared. I could practically hear Mara's eyes rolling, and I smiled again. I waited for the teacher to tell me I was right again. "Correct." She mumbled.
"Next time, raise your hand." She instructed. So I did. Every time she put a problem on the board I spit out the answer the next second. This went on until the very last minute of class. I'm pretty sure I aggravated her thoroughly. The bell rang, and it was time for gym. Mrs. Davenport may or may not have tried to pull me aside after class, but I didn't pay much attention to it, and hurried out of that class as soon as it was over.
I wasn't as excited for gym. I have never been able to go full force, so it's always been just me going through the motions. I can't show my powers just yet, though. When I got there, the coach said I could work out in what I was wearing since I ditched my book bag with my gym clothes in it before school. So I did, the exercises weren't the least bit strenuous, as usual. The class was a breeze. Third period should be interesting though, I have Chemistry, and so does Katie.
I showed up to class late on purpose, and ignored the teacher as I kicked some kid out of his seat so I could sit by Katie.
"And You are?" The teacher asked as I got settled in my new seat. He was really close, hovering right above my desk. His breath reeked. "Someone who can hook you up with a breath mint." I answered, and reached into my pocket to pull out a pack of icebreakers. I opened it up, and offered him one. I don't think he appreciated the gesture. He glared at me, and hurried over to his desk to pick up a clipboard. "Oh shit, the clipboard!" I mumbled just loud enough for the people sitting around me to hear. They laughed. The teacher hurried back, clipboard in hand, and stopped right back in front of my desk. He looked over it. "Darren Pollen." He read. My last name, something else I am currently hating. "You can call me Jack Frost." I said. He gave a fake smile, and wrote something on his almighty clipboard. "You know I had your sister last period. She seemed like a nice, smart young lady." The teacher said.
"You want her number?" I asked him. The whole class busted out laughing. He scowled.
"I've already had enough of you." He said, grabbed my arm, and pulled. It didn't take much to resist. I didn't move. He pulled again. Nothing. I crossed my leg over my other knee. "Did you want to take me somewhere?" I asked him. He gestured for me to get up, very angrily I might add. So, I did, and he walked behind me and guided me out the door. He didn't say a word, but it was clear we were on our way to the principal's office. He knocked on the door, and glanced up at me. I was a few inches taller than him. "Come in." Said Principal Jones, from behind the door. So We did. The teacher, whose name I hadn't yet bothered to learn, guided me in, came in behind me, and shut the door. "Mr. Clayton, is there a problem?" Asked Mr. Jones. Mr Clayton turned his attention towards me. "Mr. Pollen here has a bit of an attitude." Mr. Clayton declared. "I do." I agreed. Both Mr. Clayton and Mr. Jones scowled.
"I've already called home once today. The next step is three day suspension." Stated Mr. Jones.
"Cool. I'll take that please." I interrupted, and sat down in Mr. Jones' desk chair. "It's his first day. Being suspended wouldn't have much of an impact on him, in my opinion." Suggested Mr. Clayton. "I've wasted enough class time because of this one. Do you mind if I get back to my class?" Mr. Clayton asked, glaring at me. Mr. Jones appeared to be thinking, and was silent for a moment.
"Yes. Of course. I'm sorry to keep you." Mr. Jones answered. Mr. Clayton walked out. There was a long period of silence after he left.
"Detention and a session with the counselor every day for the rest of this week." He concluded.
Oh, so he thinks I'm nuts.
"Woah woah woah... Counseling session?" I asked.
"Don't forget about detention." He said.
"So, I'm crazy now?" I asked.
"I don't think you're crazy. I think you're troubled. Come back to my office after school. I'll call you out of class when I know when the counselor can see you." He said, and walked out the door.
