Chapter 33.

Abiola's POV

"Are you going to do double piercing for her?" Konyii asked Fikayo who was seated on her bed, resting her back as she fed Bella.

"I don't know, her dad might not want it." She said, referring to mine and Bella's dad.

"I'll do it for her, he can't get angry at me." I was using the advantage of the fact my dad knew deep down, I was still a little mad at him. Fikayo looked at me and nodded her head, I knew she wanted it too.

"Make it three, it's all on you." Konyii said.

"Nah, two is okay. When she grows and she wants more, I'll always do it for her." Fikayo shrugged placing Bella in my arms. I placed her carefully in her pink decorated cot and covered her body well. They would be leaving in the evening, so my mom was setting things up. I love my mom so much and no one can replace her. Many women out there won't help with anything, instead, it would be fight all day long. It didn't take long for my mom to accept her as a co-wife, something I won't be able to do and tolerate.

My mind drifted to Tobi, the big head had always asked how many babies I wanted and my reply was always, as many as I can have. He would always laugh and say he wants all of them to be girls and I would argue to have five boys and a girl or two girls. The first time I said that, his eyes bulged out of their sockets. I laughed so hard and he said I should never joke like that again, we still argued for more hours before he decided to ignore me.

My phone rang, bringing me out of my trance. It was Tobi.

"Hey baby!" He sounded happy, too happy.

"Did you win a lottery?" I asked, walking back to the FY1 quarters, where me and my colleagues stayed in the hospital.

"Good morning to you too and no I didn't. Is it bad to be really happy to speak to my baby?" I could see him rolling his eyes. He had grown that habit because of me.

"Well, we can't say. Has Tope gone to school?"

"Nope, she's still having cereals and using her phone." He said.

"Put the call on loud speaker." He did as told and I started. "Tope,
If you don't hurry up, I'll kick you all the way from here." I said aloud.

"Gosh, I'm done, I'm done." She said.

"Good." I had a satisfied look on my face as I walked into the staff room and closed the door behind me.

"She listens to you more than she does to me, what did you do to her?" Tobi asked, while I was walking to my desk.

"Nothing. What are you up to?"

"Done getting dressed for work. When you would leave today?" I heard shuffling of car keys.

"When they are discharged." I said opening up a file. We talked a bit more and said our goodbyes.

————————

"Madam! It's time to go!" I said, walking into the ward, really tired and frustrated from the whole day, very sure that I'll have missed calls from Tobi.

"What happened to you." My mom asked, while I walked towards Bella. I had washed my hands before coming, but still sanitized my hands before touching my sister's cheeks.

"I'm tired, just want to lay down on Tobi's bed, it's hard." My mom hissed and turned away. Konyii and I laughed at my mom's reaction. She always have different ones every single time.

"With the way you're always talking about his bed, is a baby  coming soon?" I whipped my head towards where my mom was and Konyii was trying so hard to contain her laughter.

"What?! No!" I scrunched up my face, trying to hide the embarrassed look I had with a frown. Fikayo and Konyii bursted out laughing, tears already forming in Fikayo's eyes. I rolled my eyes and continued stroking Bella's cheeks.

"No now, she's always talking about his bed. Last I remembered, that's where you were also made." I felt like entering the ground. Konyii and Fikayo still laughing.

"Don't pack your bags, I'll carry my sister and leave." I said,  annoyed. "You too, carry your big stomach and move it." I glared at Konyii.

"Why are you venting it on me? Shift please." She pushed me slightly with her belly. At five months pregnant, she's still the bubbly and annoying self she is, though she has added the weight she always ran from.

We packed the bag and left together, with me driving.

2 weeks later

"I'm sorry babe." Tobi said.

"What do you mean you're sorry?!" I snapped dropping the brush I was using to do my bronzer. It was my birthday today, I'm 23.

"I'm stuck at work in Glasgow, I can't leave work. I pro-" I hung up on him and didn't wait for him to finish his words. Just then, Konyii walked in, dressed in a knee length flare grey gown with polka dots and a high knee length boot, black pop socks tucked away in the boots, looking hot with her big belly. The October wind was strong.

"Where is he?" She asked, coming to sit on my bed.

"He said he wouldn't be able to make it, he's stuck at work. He promised he would make it." I said in anger and I put on my boots too.

"Babe, calm down. I know he would make it up to you." She said trying to defend him. I rolled my eyes and walked out of my room and slammed the door. Konyii came after sometime and pushed me with her stomach, she always did that when I annoyed her or made her angry.

"Because you have a big stomach now." I rolled my eyes and sat down on the kitchen stool. Fikayo came in, carrying Bella with her. I collected my sister from her and went to the sitting room, Bella looking at me with her brows creased.

"Abiola, your mom said you should go to Stanley hotel. She needs you to get something for her." I rolled my eyes.

"I'm busy, I can't go." I replied and removed the shawl that Bella was always wrapped in.

"So you did all the make up for?" Konyii asked.

"Tobi said he was coming to pick me up, only to later tell me he wouldn't make it. Please, it's my birthday. I'm supposed to be blowing a cake here, even my dad isn't here." I said trying to not let the tears fall.

"Sorry, daddy's girl. Let's go together, well get a cake on our way." Konyii offered. I shook my head, the lump in my throat not making it easy for me to talk. Konyii patted my back. "Don't tell me you want to cry, Tobi promised to make it up."

"It's going to be different! He's supposed to be here, my first birthday together." Konyii collected Bella from me and took her back to her mom, who was coming out of the kitchen with her bottle.

"Let's go." She finally dragged me up. I hesitantly agreed and we drove to the hotel.

We got to the reception and told the receptionist what we came for. I hadn't seen my mom nor my dad the whole day and I was really annoyed. She nodded her head, a smile on her face. She gave me a card which cause a confused look from me, it's a VIP card which I knew was on the top floor. Don't ask me how I knew it.

Konyii and I walked to the elevator and pressed the top floor button. We waited a few minutes then the elevator opened. We stepped out and looked around. Everywhere was dark, we had to stop and find the light switch. The lights came up at once, making the bright golden light shine and make every where bright. My eyes caught flowers on the floor and I looked at Konyii, she had the same confused look as me. We followed the arrow made by the flowers on the floor, till we got to an open space, it was totally empty, no single person was there. We both walked further.

"I think we're in the wrong floor." I said to Konyii, who had her gazed fixed somewhere outside. She dragged me along, opening the glass doors. The october cool wind welcomed us immediately, I turned towards my right to see Tobi standing there, with flowers. I ran to him with my high heel boots and hugged him immediately.

"You said you wouldn't come." I smiled. He placed a kiss on my lips. Slow music began playing in the background.

"Wouldn't miss it for anything." I giggled and kissed him again. He held my hand and kissed me. "Do I need to make a speech?" He asked, I looked confused until I saw diamond studs flash in the lights. I looked at him, words stuck in my throat. He looked serious all of a sudden and my heart got to my stomach. My hand was still on his chest and the left one in his hold. My heart started beating fast, he raised his brows indicating my answer for his question. I was still dazed until he placed his lips on mine again in a chaste kiss. I snapped out of my trace and looked at the ring again.

"A birthday gift?" I asked dumbly. He chuckled.

"What if it is?" He asked again.

"Be serious, can you?" I asked, still looking at the ring.

"Marry me?" He asked breathless. I could feel his heart beating against my palms. My eyes widen immediately the words registered in my brain. I looked at him and laughed.

"Joking or what?" I asked, looked to see Konyii who looked more emotional than I was.

"Do I look like I'm joking?" He switched to serious mode immediately. I looked into his eyes and saw the truthfulness in them.

"Bitch! Fucking say yes!" Konyii screamed, I heard a few people laugh making me look around the dim place. Finally, lights came on and I saw my parents first, then Ayo and a few people I met on Konyiis wedding day. I looked at my mom who had a joyous look on her face, she nodded her head smiling. I looked at my dad who also had a similar look to my mom's. I finally turned to Tobi and nodded my head. He raised his brows up.

"Y-yes." I whispered, stammering. His face broke into a very happy one.

"She said yes!!" He screamed, hugging and lifting me off the floor and spun me around. I giggled, my giggles loud and echoing in the quiet place. Everyone erupted into loud cheers, clapping. He finally dropped me and slid the ring into my finger. It was my perfect size.

I looked at him and smiled, before we both kissed passionately. I heard my dad saying something but didn't hear his words.

"We're still outside." Someone said loudly. We pulled away. My mom dragged me into a bone crushing hug, same with Konyii, before my dad did the same.
