Chapter 12

The Seventh Sister's POV

Ezra landed the ship on a ledge not too far away from the Jedi Temple. Since neither of us had slept in a while, we decided to sleep in the ship before we explored the temple.

Since there was not a lot of room in the ship, we both grab a few blankets from the supplies and tried to bed down on the floor. After a few minutes of trying to figure something out, we finally ended up with Ezra's head by the door and his feet near the front, and I layed the opposite way.

I fell asleep as soon as I settled down. I was automatically greeted with unwelcomed dreams.

"Lucy!"

I whipped my head back and forth, searching for the source of the voice. It was a deep voice that called out, one that was filled with distress.

"You can't take her!" The voice yelled again.

"No!" A feminine voice called out.

Blackness surrounded me. I tried running in the direction I thought the voices were coming from, but with no luck.

"She is only a child! She is not ready for this!"

"You cannot take my only child away!"

The voices started to sound heartbroken. The air crackled with tension.

And, out of nowhere, the tension ceased. The world seemed to calm down. The blackness seeming brighter than before.

"Lucy, my child, listen. We do not have long, so you must listen. These men will take you on a journey. I don't know what will happen to you or us, but always remember us. Don't forget where you came from."

It was the feminine voice that spoke. Although now it was calm and tired. Her words echoed in the ever-impending darkness. As the echoes died away, a scene started to form around me.

I looked back and forth, trying to take it all in. I automatically recognized where I was. The Jedi Temple on Coruscant. The room I was in, the Council Room, was empty.

I was standing in the middle, where a visitor usually came to speak to the council.

I walked to the windows. As I passed one of the old Jedi Master's chair, I put my finger on it and picked up some of the dust that had collected. I could tell no one had been here for a while.

I looked out the large windows. But, what I saw out those windows surprised me.

There was nothing. No speeders full of people on their ways to work, or transports picking up senators from the Senate Building.

"It is lonely, isn't it?"

I looked back to see who had spoken.

"Grand Inquisitor?" I said with surprise.

The dead inquisitor walked over so he was standing by me, also looking out the window.

"The planet sure does look different without all of the hustle and bustle. Don't you agree?" The Grand Inquisitor asked.

"Yes, it sure does," I replied hesitantly. "If I may ask, Grand Inquisitor, what are you doing here?"

"You may ask, but the real question is, what are you doing here?" The Grand Inquisitor questioned.

"I don't understand."

"You know, I was once a Jedi. Before the Empire came, I was a Jedi Master."

"I didn't know that."

"Yes, I wouldn't expect you to. I tried to leave all that behind when I turned so long ago."

"Were you successful?"

"It seems not. When I died and became part of the cosmic Force, I expected something else of my afterlife. Instead, the Force decides to make me revisit my past. This is where I have been since I died, staring out upon the empty surface, reminding myself of what I used to be."

"And why am I here?"

"That is the question, isn't it? Well, as I have been unearthing my old memories, I have discovered a few things. A few things I would wish to share."

"With me? Grand Inquisitor, there are many inquisitors at the temple you could have summoned. I am not even an inquisitor anymore. I left, and now I am stuck helping a rebel trying to find a red blade. And we do not even know why. Everything has been amise ever since those dreams started between the two of us. Something is meant to be uncovered, but we don't know what," I said.

"Seventh Sister, I have been watching you since I died. You always were my favorite out of all my inquisitors. The Fifth Brother was too reckless. I was very glad when Ezra killed him. And all the other inquisitors didn't have a mind quite like yours. You always stood out, in no matter what you did. And I know about you leaving the Empire. I watched as you were betrayed. It truly surprised me when you decided to fight with a rebel, though."

"I might have been your favorite, but that does not explain why I am here now."

"You are young to go through this much, Seventh Sister. You and Ezra. But you are facing it together. And as I havd revised my past, I revisited ways of the Jedi I had forgotten. I felt that while you are on this journey, I must warn you."

"Warn me of what, Grand Inquisitor?"

"This galaxy has been slowly ripped to shreds ever since it has been created. Mistakes have been made, and then repeated because no one learned from their past. I grant you with this wisdom now, Seventh Sister. You may be looking into the now and future for the answer to this riddle, but the past holds many answers."

I looked to the Pau'un. The one who I would have served to the death to before everything changed.

"You are young to be making these decisions. But decisions are being forced upon you and Ezra. You are brave to be facing them when most will not."

The Grand Inquisitor started to fade away before my eyes.

"Wait! I have questions!" I exclaimed as my dead master disappeared.
