Chapter 13

Ezra's POV

Dreams. That is what happened as soon as I fell asleep.

I hate dreams.

"Lucy!"

A deep voice yelled out, echoing in the everlasting darkness.

"You can't take her!"

"No!"

This time, a feminine voice joined in.

"She is only a child! She is not ready for this!"

"You cannot take my only child away!"

The mood of the voices were sad, setting the air in a certain way.

But then, everything calmed down.

"Lucy, my child, listen. We do not have long, so you must listen. These men will take you on a journey. I don't know what will happen to you or us, but always remember us. Don't forget where you came from."

The feminine voice that spoke quietly died away in the darkness. I looked around, trying to pinpoint the source of the voices.

But, as I looked around, the darkness was starting to become something else.

As things started to solidify, I recognized where I was. My old home on Lothal. My tower, after my parents were taken away.

I looked around at all the spare parts, helmets, and whatnot I had all over the place.

I walked up to my work bench where I used to do all sorts of projects.

"Was this place of importance to you?"

I looked behind me to see who had spoken. Standing by the door of the tower was a man wearing dull robes who had long brown hair with a bread covering the bottom half of his face.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"I am Qui-Gon Jinn. A Jedi master from before you were born," Qui-Gon said. His voice seemed unusually calm.

"And why are you here?" I asked.

"I am here to guide. You can to Ilum for a reason, yes?" Qui-Gon asked.

"Yes, but we haven't even visited the temple, the Seventh Sister and I," I explained.

"No, you haven't. Well, now you do not have to. You are getting your vision outside of the temple."

"I guess so."

"You come to seek answers about the red blade from your dreams."

"Yes."

"And why do you want to know?" Qui-Gon asked.

"Because the Seventh Sister and I are being set up, we know, and this red blade seems to be the center of it all. Someone wants to test us. We want to know why," I said.

"I see."

"Do you have any answers for me?" I asked.

Instead of answering me, Qui-Gon came and stood by me near the work bench. He scanned its contents and pick up an old communicator.

"Do you know the history of this object?" He asked me.

"I snatched that from an Imperial officer one day while stealing some food," I answered.

Qui-Gon put down the communicator and again started to browse the bench. This time, he picked up a wrench.

"And this?" He asked.

"Stole it from a store in Capitol City," I explained.

He put down the wrench, and instead of picking up something else from the bench, faced me.

"Does everything in this room have a story behind it?" Qui-Gon questioned.

"Yeah," I said hesitantly. I was beginning to wonder if this guy was here to help, or had severe mental issues.

"And everything in this room has a use now? Even if just for decoration?"

"I guess so," I answered.

"And everything in this room has a future? Something to become of it?" He asked.

"Is there a point here?" I asked.

"There is if you look for one," Qui-Gon said.

"You are a very confusing man. Might just beat out Yoda for the top spot," I said.

Qui-Gon smiled as humor filled his eyes. "I don't think anyone can be as confusing as that old man."

"Hard to argue there," I said. "Anyway, back to the point of the junk in this room."

"Ahh, yes. Can not forget the reason you came here," Qui-Gon said. "As we were saying, everything in this room has a story. Whether very simple or complex, everything has a reason it is here."

"And how is that supposed to help me find who the red blade is? I don't think he will come out and show himself if I explain the backstory behind a wrench. It seems to excite you, but not everyone wants to hear a story about an old tool," I said.

"Forget about the wrench. The point is, everything and everyone has a story."

"And?"

"And you don't know everyone's story."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"You can not truly know a companion unless you know where they came from," Qui-Gon stated.

"Wait, so you are telling me all of our answers can be solved if I hear the Seventh Sister's story?"

"Not her story. Find out where she came from and go there. There, the story will be revealed."

"What in the whole Outer Rim is that supposed to mean?" I asked as the ghost of Qui-Gon Jinn faded away.

I woke up abruptly, and automatically shot up into a sitting position. As I did so, the Seventh Sister did the same. Not weird at all.

"We have to explore your past!" I exclaimed at the same time the Seventh Sister exclaimed, "We must discover my past!"

"I think we have a common goal," I joked.

The Seventh Sister just rolled her eyes.
