Birds chirped as the sun rose deep into the sky. Light gave color to all the gloomy buildings on the street. There was one odd thing about this picture though. An owl was perched on a sign letting the warmth overwhelm him. Now owls are nocturnal which means they live at night and are scarcely seen in the day. This was exactly what was going through the young 14 year old Athena' s head. who was staring at this odd sight appearing right outside her window. Her thought was however broken when a shout echoed into her cramped room.

"Athena you are going to be late to school again. Quit daydreaming! You  have 15 minutes until your bus arrives. Hurry up!"Now you might be thinking that this voice belonged to her mother,but no it didn't. It belonged to the plump woman, Ms. Millar the head at the orphanage where Athena lived. 

"Okay , I'll be down in 5." Athena yelled. She pushed the owl from her brain and scurried over to her box.

No I'm not stupid. I did say box. All her clothes fit in there, it's all she has in fact to put them in.
"What am I going to wear." she said to herself.
Of course she knew what she was going to wear, she had few clothes and most of them were very similar.

"Gotcha" she said as she pulled out a navy blue dress and teal t-shirt.

Yep that's what she was going to wear, a dress and a t-shirt. She didn't own any jeans. Just dresses and shirts. And only one grubby pair of white converse. If you could call them white.
She pulled off her pjs and slipped her new clothes on. She went over to the bathroom connected to her room and opened a drawer. She rummaged around a little bit but eventually she found what she wanted. A tube of apple lipstick. She smeared some on and put it in her Alice in Wonderland purse. She brushed out her short hair with her fingers and put it in a messy bun. She smiled in the mirror and walked out. Before she went downstairs she remembered the owl she had seen. She ran over to the window. She stuck her head out but saw nothing. As she brought her head in a warming sensation rushed over her heart. Then it burned. 

"Oooooww!" She yelped. It felt as if something was being burnt into her skin. The pain was terrible. What is happening to me!" She heard footsteps draw near her door then she saw the owl fly into the window. Then she closed her eyes and fainted.
