Chapter 2
The next day, Diana went to the museum and upon walking inside she felt a strange change in the air. Looking around she saw most of the exhibit rooms were still closed and locked. Opening them was her job and knowing that none but her had the key she was curious to see what was amiss.
Taking her key she placed it inside the lock of the first door. Turning the key she prepared herself though she wasn't sure what she was preparing herself for. Unlocking the door and pushing it open the sight before her eyes were enough to make her scream bloody murder.
"Ahaha!" Diana screamed at the top of her lungs as she retreated from the scene.
Hearing a loud scream come from inside his new place of employment James ran inside as fast as he could. Diana turned and ran right into his arms, confused as to what was going on he looked past her and saw the reason for her scream. There upon the old rug in the tea room was a woman with blood scattered all around her body. He knew she was dead and he had a good idea what the cause was.
"Oh my god Celine! Why did it have to be you?!" Diana cried as James held her.
Within a few moments Colin then entered the museum and saw James holding Diana and looked at him shocked. James rolled his eyes and motioned to the tea room, looking that way Colin too saw the sight and rushed to the desk and dialed 911. James held Diana close and tried to keep her calm as Colin returned to them.
"They'll be here in five minutes...do we know who that is?" Colin asked both James and Diana.
"She was my best friend, her name is Celine and I have no idea how she even got in, only James and I have a key." Diana said as she tried to stop her tears.
"Colin my new office is the first door on the right on the second floor, the security camera should have caught what happened." James said as he kept still with Diana.
Nodding, Colin rushed up the stairs and into his brother's new office. Knowing his brother's password, he logged into the computer and was able to access the cameras and video from last night with hardly any problem. Watching the video made even him want to be sick though, there on the video before him was not just a someone but a warning. Taking out a spare thumb drive he had on him he saved the video but then deleted it from the computer. He would have to show it to James as soon as the police left. Right after he thought that the police came into the office wanting access to the computer.
Colin agreed and left the room. Walking back up to James he leaned over to whisper something in his brother's ear.
"They're here, once the others leave go look on the ceiling in that room." Colin said unaware that Diana had heard him as well.
After the police took photos and gathered as much evidence as they could, they wheeled in a stretcher and put Celine's body one it. Putting a white sheet over her Diana watched as her best friend was wheeled out right past her. That was the last time she would ever see Celine. Since everyone else was distracted Diana went into the tea room and looked up upon the ceiling. There written in blood were the words "Third life will end same as the first two.". Diana didn't know what to make of the words but looking back out to Colin and James she saw they were still talking to a policeman, looking closer at Colin's jacket though she saw something sticking out of his jacket, it looked to be a thumb drive.
Diana trying to act casual walked behind Colin and did manage to grab the drive. Telling the others she needed a moment she went to her office and locked herself in. Staring at her computer she began to question if she wanted to see what was on the drive. Thinking of Celine though and wanting to catch her murderer she put the drive in her computer and opened the video.
It only took a few minutes until Diana then went to her trash can and became sick. The images she had just seen on that drive were beyond disgusting. It looked like an orgy or sacrifice though she didn't know why Celine was willing on the video. Maybe her friend was drugged? Then there was a bang on the door, she didn't answer but she heard keys rattling and then the door opened. There stood James who went right to her but she pushed him away.
"What is going on? What happened to Celine and why are you trying to hide it?!" Diana demaned.
Colin walked in and shut the door with a panicked look on his face.
"I lost it! Where the hell did it go?!" Colin panicked.
"She watched it Colin...she knows what happened to her friend and now she demands to know why we are hiding it." James said looking Colin's way.
Scratching the back of his head Colin sighed. How would he tell her the truth, oh well your friend was killed as a warning to us that no matter how much we tried to protect you like your past two lives that you would be killed and the blood drained from your body...that would not go over well?
"You wouldn't believe the truth even if I did tell you." Colin shrugged.
"I just saw my friend's death! Try me!" Diana yelled at Colin.
"Fine, you asked for it then." Colin closed his eyes and then looked right at Diana. "The people who killed your friend are vampires, they made her death as a warning because they aren't after her they are after you and once they find you just like the last two lifetimes you have had you will be drained by the queen of death herself...did I miss anything James?"
"Colin...you are an idiot." James said shaking his head.
"Vampires? Warning? Draining me to death?" Diana said before she passed out on the floor of her office.
"What? She wanted the truth, so I gave it to her." Colin said as he took the thumb drive out and put it in his pocket. "You know as well as I do we can't stay here and neither can she. Queenie must be running low because last time we had a whole month to tell her and this time not even a day."
James scoffed though he knew that Colin was right. Picking Diana up in his arms he looked to the door. If they left that meant they would be on the run for who knew how long. However, if they stayed then the queen obviously knew where they were, and death would come to Diana faster than it ever had before.
"We could go to your old plantation...it's a museum now as well and obviously you have the credentials." Colin smirked.
"That's the only place we have left, your home is gone, and he's is probably already bugged to find out whatever they can about her." James said as he looked outside and watched the police leave the museum. "Come on, we'll let her rest in the back seat."
Diana felt herself placed on a softer surface than a floor. As her eyes were closed her dreams began to play what she thought were very odd dreams. In one of her dreams she saw James and he looked like he was from the civil war time but he was dressed very nicely. He held his hand out to her and she accepted, turning her to look in a mirror Diana was surprised to see her appearance in her own dream. She looked wealthy and happy with James standing behind her and smiling brightly. If she didn't know any better, she would have thought they were a couple. Then in the blink of an eye the scene changed, she saw James still before her and he looked normal except for his mouth, dripping down from his mouth was blood and he looked hungry...
Colin looked back at Diana as she seemed to be fighting something in her dream. Climbing into the backseat he held her close as he tried to wake her up. Finally, after her shook her for at least a good solid five minutes her eyes opened and she stared him down.
"Are you ok? You were fighting in your dream." Colin said wanting to hear her explanation.
"He's a vampire!" Diana screamed and pointed to James.
"Yeah...we both are but we aren't going to hurt you I swear." Colin tried to reassure her but that just made her pass out in his arms.
"Two for two Colin...do you not remember what she was like at all?" James sighed as he looked forward keeping his eyes on the road.
"Last time we had longer time and I didn't start off as a vampire!" Colin argued.
"You cheated on your fiancé with the woman now in your lap and you think being a vampire is bad?" James retorted.
"That's not the point, if she keeps passing out like this she will be an easy target." Colin groans as he looks down at Diana and he moves her hair to the side of her neck.
"Don't even think about it!" James warned Colin who looked away from her neck with great resistance.
Hours had passed, and Diana had woken up and handful of times, Colin and James were only able to tell her bits and pieces of information before she passed out again. However once they arrived at James old plantation he hoped that the pictures and artifacts there would be able to convince her that they were not lying.
