It has been a couple of moons since Batpaw became an apprentice. She was happy to grow more into the medicine cat life. Batpaw sat down waiting for Mossfrost. "There you go Eaglepaw all better now." He meowed happily as Eaglepaw got up and hissed. "Thanks I so appreciate that." He growled and lashed his tail. "I can so take care of my self." He whispered to himself. "Can we go find herbs now Mossfrost." Batpaw meowed almost jumping up and down with overjoy. "Yes Batpaw follow me now." He purred padding out of the den and to the forest. "Wait we are crossing into Cinderclan territory." Batpaw meowed and stopped flatting her ears. Mossfrost looked behind him at Batpaw. "Remember Medicine cats can go across territory when they need to get herbs." He meowed as Batpaw nodded. "Batpaw go get the horsetail it only grows here and Flowershine said anyone is welcome to take some." He meowed. "What are you doing here!? A new voice came. Batpaw's fur bristled as she saw a dark brown Tom and a cream colored Tom staring at her and Mossfrost hatred in their eyes. "I'm sorry to bother you Sandpatch we need to have some horsetail." Mossfrost meowed dipping his head to him. "Again?" The dark brown Tom hissed. "Shut your muzzle Spruceshine." Sandpatch hissed as Spruceshine quieted down. "Get your herbs and go." Hissed Sandpatch as Mossfrost nodded. Batpaw grabbed the horsetail with Mossfrost and left. As they where walking Batpaw saw fire around and gasped. "Mossfrost do you see the fire around us?" She meowed with terrier as it disappeared. "Now I don't Batpaw where?" He said worried as Batpaw sighed. "Never,ind just seeing things." She sighed

Batpaw relaxed in the sun as Mossfrost ran over to her. "I have found you hurry let's get back to camp!" He said worried. "Grab the Catmint hurry and go to Pinestars. He meowed briskly as Batpaw got up and ran to the Medicine den and grabbed some Catmint. And ran to to Pinestar's den and saw him on the ground. Redsnout was sitting next to him with Mossfrost. "Batpaw! Pinestar is losing one of his lives." Redsnout looked up at his daughter. Batpaw gave the catnip to Mossfrost as he noticed Pinestar stopped breathing as she watched in horror. "He's in Starclan's paws right now." Mossfrost sighed. "Now we will wait tell he awakens." Redsnout meowed looking at Pinestar worried. Batpaw walked to her father and sat down. "How long does it take Mossfrost?" Redsnout asked worried and looked at Mossfrost. "He's supposed to be awake right now." He asked scaredly. Batpaw looked at Pinestar with shock. "Is her dead." She meowed it was hard to say like there was prey stuck in her throat. Redsnout looked down sadly. "He was a noble leader." He sighed as Batpaw saw the grief in her father eyes. "Leopardstrike won't like the sound of this." Mossfrost sighed. "What are we going to do now?" Batpaw wailed as Redsnout nuzzled his daughter. "Me and Mossfrost I'll take him to the middle of camp." He sighed and looked at Batpaw. "Go and tell Leopardstrike about this." He meowed as Batpaw got up and nodded.

"Leopardstrike?" Batpaw meowed walking into the warrior's den. The leopard colored she-cat looked up at Batpaw. "What do you need Batpaw?" She asked softly. "It's Pinestar." Batpaw sighed looking at the ground guilt flowing over to her tail tip to ear tip. Leopardstrike twitched her whiskers. "How is he doing." She meowed tilting her head to the side. "We don't know how this happened but. Pinestar lost his last life. We don't know how it happened." She meowed as Leopardstrike gasped and looked up. "No no! This can't happened. Why!" She yelled running out before Batpaw could speak to her. Batpaw watched as Leopardstrike nuzzled her mate. "I'm so sorry Leopardstrike." Batpaw whispered. Raingaze sat up. "Why did he die? He was so young." He whispered and went to his dead body. Darkwater pressed against her brother. "Are you sure you don't know how he died Batpaw?" Leopardstrike begged. Batpaw shook her head. "Yes. I'm sorry." She padded out of the den. She saw Eaglepaw nuzzling his dead father. Poor Eaglepaw. "May starclan light his path." She whispered as Briarpaw sat next to Eaglepaw looking at Pinestar. "Batpaw are you going to sit with us. You have been close to him." Briarpaw meowed. Batpaw nodded. "Yeah your right Briarpaw." She meowed and layed down and out her nose on his cold body. With Briarpaw and Eaglepaw next to her. "We will miss you Pinestar." She meowed as the darkness swooped over her.
