Chapter 10
Levi's jaw hit the floor as Vivienne's eyes widened, arrested? Marian Sterling, their mother and tormentor was being arrested?
Please, Lord, please don't let this be a dream.
"On what charges?!" Marian shrieked; she couldn't believe her ears. This could not be happening to her. She was the Marian Sterling, elite woman of the business world and perfect mother/wife; surely they have made a mistake.
"Abuse of a minor and second degree murder" the mature officer slapped the cuffs on Marian despite her struggle.
"Get your filthy hands of me!"
"Resisting arrest can go onto the list ma'am I suggest you cooperate with me, I have no problem dragging you out of here if need be" the man snapped at her "now you have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to have a lawyer present during any questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be appointed for you if you so desire. "
Three Sterling children watched shock and awe as their mother was carried out of their home and placed in the back seat of a police car. They watched in disbelief as the car drove away, each praying that it wasn't a dream and that it really did happen.
"Simeon."
His head snapped around at the voice of his friend, "Reese, what-how..."
"Let's go inside and sit" Reese suggested.
Nodding in agreement Simeon ushered his siblings inside; when they were gathered in the living room and each of them were seated it was then that they talked.
"Did that really just happen?" Levi whispered; he was so happy he could cry.
"Yes, it did Levi. I know you guys have questions, well my team got a bit of help in what just happened from an unknown source." Reese explained.
"What? Who?" Simeon asked, he didn't think anyone outside of the Sterling family knew what went on inside the place he called home.
"One of the three of you" David butch answered.
"Us? What do you mean?" Simeon's brows drew together in confusion as he stared at his friend and his friend's boss.
"I received a video camera with footage of things that could only be taped by someone inside the family" Reese said.
Both Simeon's and Vivienne's heads turned toward Levi. Their father had loved to capture their moments on tape and when he suddenly 'disappeared' Levi kept his camera.
"Levi?" Simeon almost couldn't believe it. His younger was partially responsible for getting their mother arrested. "Did you..."
"Yes, I sent dad's camera" he blurted, tears welled in his eyes as he looked at Reese "she's not coming back right?"
"Right now, we can't say for sure, the video of the little girl Angelica Sterling and how she was found dead rose some questions and we got the all clear to arrest your mother, but we need your help to make sure she doesn't come back" Reese replied softly.
At the mention of Angelica, the Sterling children stiffened, they remembered the day they came home for her only to be gone, even though Levi was only three he never forgot the sight of his dead twin sister and neither did Simeon or Vivienne.
"What do you need?" Simeon asked.
"Do any of you know where your father is?" David questioned, he and Reese watched their reactions, Simeon looked crestfallen as did Levi but Vivienne, the middle child, she was white as a sheet.
"Vivienne?" Reese called softly but sternly.
Her eyes darted to his, she was scared, the very mention of her father brought back flashes from the night, the sudden ringing in her ears made tears prick her eyes.
"Viv, hey, what is it?" Simeon asked as he cupped his sister's pale face.
"I'm sorry" she whispered, she knew that she had to say something but she was afraid. Not afraid of her mother but how her brothers would react if they found out the truth.
"Why are you apologizing you did nothing wrong" Simeon chuckled.
Vivienne shook her head adamantly, if you only knew brother.
"Do you know where your father is Vivienne?" David threw the question at her and saw as she tensed up once again. Her head lowered and after a long while she nodded, he barely saw her head move up and down but it was still a nod.
"What!" Simeon's eyes widened as he stared at his sister "where is he?"
"Why didn't you tell us?" Levi frowned, he felt betrayed, he thought that they didn't keep secrets from each other.
Because it's not what you think, Vivienne thought.
"I couldn't" Vivienne croaked, how could she with that monster still in the house?
"Well, you can tell us now, please Viv" Levi begged.
"You'll hate me" she sobbed. That was her worst fear and it was one of the reasons she never told them.
"Vivienne, your brothers won't hate you, they love you too much, so much that Simeon asked me personally to help you from the nightmare you've been living in. Help us now, please" Reese told her.
Vivienne stared at Reese and then her brother, her eyes widened slightly as she realized how comfortable the two were around each other. Simeon's been protecting them all this time. Fresh tears sprung to her eyes as guilt ate her; she nodded at Reese who gave her a warm smile in return.
"Can you take us to him?"
Vivienne nodded again, she prepared herself, she would no longer run away from what she knew was coming...instead she'd face it head on. Even if that meant losing her brothers.
Standing from the couch Vivienne feet moved, with her two most important people behind her as well as their saviors.
Reese watched Vivienne with a keen eye, the way she glided was so elegant, he shook his head mentally scolded himself for getting distracted by her beauty. As he came to his senses he realized that they had entered the garden Marian kept in the backyard.
It was a sight to behold, well-kept and very beautiful.
Vivienne stopped walking and was standing staring straight ahead at nothing.
"V-Vivienne, why are we out here?" Simeon was afraid of her answer, he was begging the heavens to let the answer be opposite of his thoughts.
Vivienne turned around, tears staining her cheeks, "this is where dad is."
"I don't see him" Levi said looking around like Nicholas Sterling was going to pop out of the bushes.
"You won't" Vivienne whispered.
Levi frowned, his frustration got the best of him making him snap at his sister "then why did you say he was out here? Where is dad?"
Vivienne pointed to where a patch of blue tiger lilies were growing, the flowers were Angel's favorite because of their medicinal uses and healing properties, not to mention they were blue, the color of all their eyes.

"In the ground."
