At the beginning of each and every year

We gather in crowds to laugh and cheer

Wearing silly hats, waving tools of noise

Disdaining any thoughts of poise

Guzzling wine and steins of beer

Burping loud for all to hear

As the clock's minute hand deploys

Announcing loudly the New Year's joys

Most gratefully I shout aloud

To this writing crowd

With whom I've shared friendship's call
