Chapter 10
My muscles were sore by the time I went home that day. A small groan of relief escaped my mouth as I laid on my bed with my shoes still on. I closed my eyes and sighed, deciding to take a nap before I started to do the homework that some of my teachers had given me.
"Someone is waiting for you in the living room," Wally said, knocking on my door. "Do you want me to send her up?" he asked, amused when I groaned.
"Yes, please," I said, my face still in my pillow. "Coach worked us out hard today because a lot of people didn't work out over the summer. Ethan and I didn't have to, but I made Ethan do it and did it myself.
"Do you still have a bottle of painkillers in your bathroom?" Wally asked. Worry filled his voice, and I knew that he was worried about me.
I nodded my head. "And I think I have water in the fridge." I closed my eyes and dozed a bit while Wally grabbed me water and some painkillers.
"Should I send the guest home?" Wally asked, shaking me awake. He waited until I turned around and sat up before handing me the meds and water.
I took the medication and shook my head. "Who is it?" I asked curiously. Nobody usually came to my house this early in the school year. Every Friday night, the soccer team would come over to my house, and we would have a small get together. However, they usually just walked right in and sometimes jumped on my bed if I was asleep.
"I believe it is Mrs. Barren."
I frowned, curious as to why Drew's mother was here. "Send her up," I said. I stood and made my way to my dresser. "I'm going to take a quick shower and try to look presentable." I ran a hand through my hair, knowing that I probably still had some grass from the fight Ethan and I had during practice.
Wally nodded his head and left the room. There was a small smirk on his face, and I knew that it was because some grass had fallen from my hair and onto the floor below me.
I shook my head and found some presentable clothes before I ran into the bathroom. Let's hope she doesn't get too curious about me. I want to keep the secret of being the owner of Caprien a secret as long as possible.

I was seated on my bed when Wally led Mrs. Barren to my room. I stood out of respect, even though I would rather sit on my bed and watch as Mrs. Barren looked around my room and take in what I was about.
Wally came bearing snacks, and he nodded his head when I shot him a grateful look. "They're sugar cookies," he said, and I nodded. He set them down at the table near the window before leaving us.
Mrs. Barren looked me up and down. She didn't show any emotion on her face, and I hoped that she didn't care that I was in jeans or a t-shirt. "Did you even try to be fancy for me?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. "You did Saturday."
"Correction," I said. "I was forced to wear a dress. If I had it my way, I would've not gone down to the dinner and have one of the cooks bring food up for Ethan and me."
"What about for school?"
"T-shirt and jeans," I replied. "Dress pants if it is for something fancy." I gestured to the table with chairs beside it. "Come in and sit down. Trisha makes the best sugar cookies."
Mrs. Barren nodded and moved towards the table. As soon as she got there, she sat down and took a bite of a cookie. "These are good," she said, nodding her head.
I nodded, grabbed two drinks of water from the mini-fridge in my room, moved to the table, and sat down. "So, why is it that you are here?" I asked. "My parents aren't here if you wanted to see them."
"No, I wanted to see you, actually." She grabbed a folder from her purse and tossed it onto the table before leaning back. She took another cookie and studied me. "You may look at it," she added, seeing my curious look.
I opened the file and was shocked to see me. Not only was I seeing me, but I was seeing me in one of the factories that I partially owned with my grandmother. My face became pale at the thought of my mother seeing this and knew that I could be grounded for life. "Where did you get these?" I asked, looking up at her. "Who did you show?"
