Chapter 35
The next morning at breakfast, we didn't say anything about last night. We acted the way that we normally acted around each other, and I still had no idea what I wanted our relationship to be.
I was worried that Drew would decide to have sex with someone else if he felt frisky enough, and I did not want to get cheated on, and I knew that if he did, then I would probably kick his ass into next week.
The only difference was that Clarissa was eating breakfast with us that she hadn't planned. However, she looked pleased with what Trisha had cooked and had asked for seconds, which she normally didn't do in front of our parents.
"Does she always cook this good for breakfast?" Clarissa asked and took another bite of her food. She hummed in happiness, and I looked at her with a raised eyebrow in question. "I mean, I don't normally get to enjoy it because Mom keeps making comments and such."
I nodded and pressed my lips into a thin line, annoyed with our mother and the way she treated Trisha. "She does," I confirmed. "You should try her cake when she makes it."
"Which one?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question. "I mean, doesn't she make a couple of them?"
I nodded again. "Red velvet and double chocolate cake are her best ones," I said, and Drew shook his head, no. I scowled and narrowed my eyes at him while I waited for him to say something.
"Her carrot cake and cheesecake are the best," he said, and I scoffed and rolled my eyes. "They are," he said, defending his choice in cakes.
"They are not," I replied. "Those two are classic cakes that she makes regularly."
"Yes, when you want them," Drew said. He narrowed his eyes and pointed his fork at me, and I raised an eyebrow in question. "I saw you eating a whole double chocolate cake by yourself," he said. He sniffled and wiped a fake tear from under his eye, and I rolled my eyes and scowled. "You didn't even offer me a slice."
"Ya, whatever, Cupcake," I said, not feeling guilty about eating the whole cake by myself. "There was another double chocolate cake there, which you took a slice from, so don't go starting that shit."
"Wait," Clarissa said with a breathless laugh. She looked at me, and amusement filled her eyes. "You ate an entire double chocolate cake by yourself?"
I nodded in confirmation and took a sip of my drink. I had eaten multiple double chocolate cakes by myself before when I was in a very pissed off mood that both fighting nor a cigarette could calm me down.
"Why?"
"I was super pissed at school and asked Trisha if she could make me a cake. She said sure and that she was going to make another one so that everyone else can share." I set my drink down on the table and started to eat some more.
Wally walked into the room and started to collect some of the dirty dishes. He ignored the dirty look that I sent his way, and a small smirk appeared on his face.
"W-"
"Now, now Miss Christina, there is no need to have this conversation again," Wally said while he balanced some of the dirty dishes in his arms. "I shall collect the plates after you all are done and clear the table, too. You all shall finish getting ready for school."
"Bu-"
"No, Miss Christina," Wally said in a tone that meant, "that is final."
I groaned and slouched against the seat while I scowled. I was annoyed that he wanted to do this, even though he didn't need to because I was more than capable of cleaning my place myself.
"Ik weet dat je hiertoe in staat bent, en je bent niet zoals je moeder. Ik doe dit echter graag voor u, (I know that you are capable of doing this, and you aren't like your mother. However, I am happy to do this for you,)" he said in Dutch after a single glance towards Clarissa.
"Het zou het beste zijn als je het niet deed, (It would be best if you didn't do it,)" I replied, and he snorted but didn't say another word while he walked away with the dirty dishes.
"Wait... did you just have a conversation with Wallace in a different language?" Clarissa asked, and I nodded in confirmation. She furrowed her brows and cocked her head. "What? Does he know different languages?"
"Five in total, actually," I replied with a sigh and started to eat more from my plate. "He speaks Spanish, French, Dutch, English, Hebrew." I shrugged and ate another bite. "It's normal."
"For you," Clarissa replied off the bat, and I hummed and nodded in agreement because it was normal for me to speak different languages with him when he wanted to. "I only know French and Spanish." She grimaced and shrugged. "I'm only fluent in French though. I can make my way through some Spanish but not a lot."
"Chris can speak more than that," Drew said, and she looked at him before she looked at me.
"How many?"
"Ten," I replied.
"And they are...?" She raised an eyebrow in question, and I had no idea if she believed me or not.
I pressed my tongue to the bottom of my lip and thought about it. "Dutch, Spanish, English, French, Mandarin, Hebrew, Arabic, Italian, Japanese, and Swahili." I counted them on my fingers before I shrugged again and started to eat some food. "I'm learning Urdu, Hindi, and Finnish at the moment. I'm not fluent in them, but I can get by."
Clarissa stared at me with an open mouth and wide eyes, and I looked at her weirdly. "Seriously?" she asked, and I nodded. "How? Why?"
"Why not?" I shot back and raised an eyebrow. "I wanted to better myself, so I learned some languages." I shrugged and ignored her open mouth look. "It also kept me busy and not doing stupid shit."
"Like?" she asked and raised an eyebrow.
"Drugs and stuff like that." I didn't look at her and set my jaw. Annoyance filled my body, and I had no idea if it was because I didn't know if my sister believed me or not or what, but I was annoyed with her.
"Bu-"
I looked up as soon as Drew said a word and gave him a look that told him to "be quiet." I knew what he was wanting to say. I knew that he wanted to talk about my business and how I did have companies in different parts of the world.
Drew closed his mouth and didn't say a word. He took a sip of his drink and cleared his throat, and I had a feeling that he didn't understand why I didn't tell her who I truly was.
Clarissa looked between us with furrowed brows. Confusion filled her eyes, but she didn't say a word. She wanted to know, though, and I had no idea if she would keep my secret which was why I didn't want to tell her.
Again Drew cleared his throat and shifted in his seat. He looked at me and smirked, and I couldn't help but groan and roll my eyes because I knew what he was going to say. "Trisha's carrot cake is still better than the rest of her other cakes," he said.
"Oh my gosh," I said with a groan and rubbed a hand across my face. "Just shut up already about the damn cake. No one cares."
"That's because you know I am right," Drew said and wiggled his eyebrows.
I gave him a deadpan look and shook my head, not knowing what to do with him. "Just... shut up, Cupcake," I said, and he smirked. "Please... just shut up."
